jmomma Posted April 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2011 Four of us, maybe more, will be docking in Civitavecchi and looking for a transfer (private van/car) to two different hotels in Rome. Can anyone recommend a good company with reasonable rates?

Rare cruisemom42 Posted April 16, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 16, 2011 Roma Shuttle, which I've used twice very happily has the following rates: Private car: 120 euros for 1-2 people; 140 euros for up to 5 people Shuttle: 90 euros for 1 or 2 people, each add'l is another 15 euro http://www.romashuttle.com/ Be careful when booking a service; many have similar names and some get not-so-good reviews. chloe kitty Posted May 1, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 1, 2011 We are going in July, and are still looking for something not too expensive. We appreciate all help!!
CruiserBruce Posted May 1, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 1, 2011 We are going in July, and are still looking for something not too expensive. We appreciate all help!! You need to define "not too expensive". The general fares are listed back in posts #4 and 5. If you wait much longer, services are going to become unavailable, and you will be forced to use a regular taxi.

Cruiser Bruce is absolutely right - not only that several companies raised their rates this year (i think due to the increase in gas). The others may shortly follow suit so I wouldn't wait too long. For us, it's part of our cruise cost and we prefer the private transfer especially with luggage, etc.:)

Rare cruisemom42 Posted May 2, 2011 #13 Share Posted May 2, 2011 These prices are for one way?? Yes, but they are not per person. Europe is expensive, and Rome is a long way from the port. For those wanting to investigate a budget-friendly option, the train from Civitavecchia to Rome is easy unless you are loaded down with a lot of luggage. easy spirit Posted May 19, 2011 #14 Share Posted May 19, 2011 I assume tips are extra. What will be a reasonable % to give to the driver. Does the driver leaves you directly over the ship?
CruiserBruce Posted May 19, 2011 #15 Share Posted May 19, 2011 Tips are personal, and will depend a little on the culture you come from. The driver will leave you at the ship.

What type of van does Romashuttle use? I noticed that Romecabs uses Mercedes but don't see anything about the types of vehicles used by Romashuttle.
