Just got off Independence today. Captain Henrik Loy was our Captain, lovely young man, all the women swooning over him:). He was leaving for vacation today, sorry don't know name of replacement.

It has been confirmed Captain Remo has officially retired after 40 years service. We have many lovely memories of sailing with him and his wife Tove , especially watching from our balcony Independence being docked in Alesund by a 'local boy'. :)

Very sad to see that capt remo has "retired".we were on the cruise right before the port accident cruise..; we had the pleasure of having dinner with the capt and his lovely wife.this was the second time that we have had dinner with them.. All i can say is that they are first class folks.we will miss them..

He'll be on a fixed platform for 2 weeks on and 4 weeks off. This will allow him much more time with his wife and still very young little boy. RCI is leaving the for open to him should he ever desire to return as Master.

I know we aren't the only ones who will miss him so much. Anyone who sailed with the young, multilingual, outgoing Capt. Sindre from the time he was staff captain on RD and OA through being master of RD will feel the loss. His vibrant personality and skill at managing a ship will be missed by all including the crew who worked along side him.

 

His family is number one with him and seeing them on board was also a treat for many.

 

As many times as we cruised with him we somehow managed to miss his evenings of bar tending in the concierge lounge. But he was always out there somewhere around the ship.

Our first cruise was on Radiance of the Seas with Capt. Sindre. I was so impressed by him; his wonderful sense of humor so evident at the question and answer session he hosted.

 

I wish him all the best on his newest venture. His Royal Caribbean family will certainly miss him.
