Ice cream and chocolate chip cookies sound really good. I may go on a 500 calorie diet for a month BEFORE we leave.

 

And after! The scones in the afternoon (with jam and whipped cream, of course) were my downfall. As well as everything else.

 

Of course, if you get sick with a killer cold/sinus infection right after you get home, like my husband and me, 10 lbs. fly off. Two weeks later and we're still not up to par. Darned planes!

What a great idea! Never thought of doing that. We usually order a cheese plate from room service, but those little sandwiches might be a nice treat.

We would go up to the cafeteria around 5 and get a big plate of sushi and bring it back to the room for an appetizer before dinner. Enjoyed it with a drink on our balcony as we left port.

Great idea from our "neighbor" in Michigan. Below is a picture for how the Oceanview Cafe offers Sushi in the late afternoons. Plus, fruit items, etc. Lots of good treats are there to hold you over until dinner time, especially if you have a later time.

Did a June 7-19, 2011, Solstice cruise from Barcelona that had stops in Villefranche, ports near Pisa and Rome, Naples, Kotor, Venice and Dubrovnik. Enjoyed great weather and a wonderful trip. I am taking no chances (I also got a terrible tension headache one cruise at hotel the night before and there was nothing to take or buy)

 

I got Tylenol PM, reg kind, and dayquil - just in case (little small packs of one to 2 doses)

Here's a Celebrity tip: Bring a set of cloths that is two sizes too big. That way, you will have cloths that fit you on the last day of the cruise. Do NOT do yourself the disservice of trying to diet while on-board.:):):)

Thank you for the great advice (you couldn't have told me last week) I was told the reason is because salt water spray srinks clothes and it has nothing to do with grazing all day long. This is comming to you live from the Infinity in Alaska..

I'm in my first suite for my next cruise an have a butler. Will he bring us cheese instead of canapes?

You can also ask him to set up a mini cocktail party in your room. He'll bring plates food and all the necessary items. A tip after doesn't hurt too. We did this on the nights we didn't have elite parties.

 

The last two cruises we were on had night lights plugged in at the desk.

Hi,

 

For those new to cruising: All the cabins are made with metal walls! (And the doors, too.) Remember magnets (bring or purchase at ports) to hang up itinerary, notes to steward or each other; or calendar of specialty restaurant/show reservations. The 3M Company is now selling “Post It” notes with full sticky backing.:p

 

On a safety note: if staying in a hotel pre- or post- sailing, remember not to use the hotel internet to do any personal financial clean-up as those Internet ports are not secure and easy to hack. (I received a note from our company’s security officer about this last week.)

Are there any ocean view, not balcony cabins on Solstice class ships that are larger? Have seen the many posts on balcony cabins such as the sweet sixteen, but I am looking for advice on an ocean view. I have heard about the few cabins on Millennium class that face directly frontwards overlooking helipad and have more room, but have not seen anything like that for Solstice. Thanks

This is what I was coming here to find out. Will be booking the Eclipse for Christmas 2013 and want the best location for an Oceanview room. At least guidance on which deck(s) may be best.

Hi,:) I have stayed in the very forward window cabins on an M Class

ship (SUMMIT) and the room is way larger than a normal window.

As for the S class? I have not stayed in the same location. I do

have friends who I just sailed with and they had a window on deck 3

and were very pleased with it. About 180 square feet and I am looking

at the same location for the next time I book a window.

S class doesn't seem to have many ocean view cabins at all. I see deck 3 has more, and deck 7 and 8 have only 6 each that face front. Just wondering if those front facing cabins are larger like the ones on M class? We usually like to be higher up but does anyone have preferences or comments on being on lower decks? Deck 3 is less pricey category, but as Select, we get a category upgrade anyway. I have also heard you get more motion for those front facing cabins, but that doesn't bother us at all. Which would you choose and why? This cruise if for that 10th point which will get us to Elite...we wanted to do something short and inexpensive to get it over. We normally like the longer cruises and have only cruised as Concierge so know we will miss some of those amenities. CC is great for this kind of info...thanks so much to all.

yes but make sure you mark it clearly as "insulin do not touch!" as we found out and it cost us 500euro to replace amazing vanishing insulin :)

I have been in various Celebrity suites and CC with butler. Ask and normally they will bring any food (small things) you ask for. Tip: depending on length of the cruise, give the butler half his tip on the first day and half on the last day.

A word to the wise: bring Everything medical you might think you might possibly need in the way of pain meds, Immodium, Pepto Bismal, etc. Only report to the ships doc if you are fine about being restricted to the ship- and to your cabin- for AT LEAST 24 hours, more at his/her discretion. Fight it and you can and will be put off the ship at your own expense. Nuff said.

I'm new to X and sailing Millie in August. Just finished reading all 17 pages and found some wonderful tips!! I've got a couple of questions...

 

1. What is Steak Diane?

 

2. Regarding the 5% charge for getting cash from the casino...On Princess, you could put your room key in the slot machine and transfer money to your "slot bank". After you play (or don't), you can cash out your "slot bank" in to cash without charge. Does this work on X ships?
