celebrity cruisers seem aggresive .

Really ..The contemporary role of the House of Lords is primarily to act as a body of specialist knowledge that scrutinises in greater detail bills that have been approved by the House of Commons.

How is that aggressive , all you have to do is change the house of lords bit to celebrity cruises and that is pretty much what most of the threads turn into.

You have to go easy on us! A lot of us (most of us?) have knowledge of the House of Lords based mostly on what we've watched on BBC America and Downton Abbey. ;):D

I've really attempted to be helpful to you. Now I'll be aggressive: You've never cruised on a celebrity ship. You just joined cruise Critic 4 days ago. You have now reviewed enough threads and posts to be able to tell what "most threads turn into". Your posts become your history and reputation. Have a wonderful cruise. Bye!

Put that in your pipe and smoke it was posted on a heated smoking thread and was intended to put a bit of light hearted humour into the dabate.

smoking thread = smoke + pipe !

silly me , of course you are going to take it to the extreme , why not ? as i already mentioned Defensive, protective , maybe aggressive light humour....NO WAY.

Thankyou its nice to be aware of the kind of people i will be cruising with.

I have found out a few things on this site that i know to be aware of

1. I will be hung drawn and quatered if i smoke on a balcony

2.Given dirty looks if i smoke in the designated area near the spa

3.reported if i drink my husbands drink

4.must be vigilant at all times in case my son breaks into a run.

5.must not take food from the boat

6. do not and i mean do not ( there is even a name for it !)bring alcohol on the boat.

On the upside i did find a couplke of bits of info that interested me

The cc breakfast menu is good and sometimes its sunny in the med.

My point was to show you that people are not always the way their posts seem. I didn't take it as light hearted, which obviously you meant it to be, so see people don't always represent their posts as others see them. We all read something different into a posts. So, please don't judge people based on their posts on here.

People on all lines have their opinions and share them; some more passionet than others and being that is written and not verbal can come off differently than the person really is.

The only one of your items that I would turn you in for, is if you were my neighbor and smoked on your balcony and I would not have a problem calling guest services. Otherwise, you are accountable for your own actions. If one of them becomes a subject on here, I will certainly voice my opinion, but on the ship....do as you please.

What I learned on all my trips and my cruises on Celebrity was:

1. Celebrity is a very good cruise line and service is fantastic.

2. There are so many places I want to see and a cruise is a great way to see them all.

3. Do set dining, because you will meet a lot of great people; some you will keep in contact with and others not.

4. Talk to your fellow cruisers; there are so many that have traveled more than I have and have such wonderful stories.

5. Don't judge a book (or person) by its cover; take the time to find out what is inside before you pass judgment.

6. Always remember, that you have to give respect, to get respect.

I certainly hope you have a fantastic cruise.

Every CC Board has a few "cheerleaders" that tend to go overboard -- pun intended -- in response to negative comments from others about their favorite line. Other than that, the great majority of posters are very nice and willing to share good information and play well with others.

I am on Equinox , is the tribute always on there ?

To tell you the truth, I don't know. I read it today in a trip report of someone's cruise on the Equinox. :p We'll be on the Equinox next spring though so I'll report back if he's there. I hope he's the same guy we saw on the Independence of the Seas out of Southampton in February. That guy was really really good. He sounded just like Elton John at the height of his career and sang all his best songs!

There may be a better word for it , correct me if I'm wrong. Having browsed the other cruise line threads , I noticed how informative and friendly the comment are. There are the odd debates but celebrity cruisers get very personal with there comments. The only explanation I can think of for this is the celebrity laws and rules.

I only hope that all this aggression is kept to the forum and not taken on holiday with them .

:(

Have you been on the Carnival board??????

So insulting I am not sure where to begin. Your age discrimination is showing big time. So I will pick just one point - posting disagreements with a change is not necessarily a comfort thing, nor the fact that we "older" folks want stability. (stability?!?! are you kidding me?!?!). Did you ever consider - maybe sometimes we just don't like the change. Maybe it is not a good change. Some change is good and some change is not good. Anyone who has paid attention to the US economy the past however many years knows full well that change is not always good for heavens sake (and this was deliberately worded so as not to point fingers to either side).

ps

Yes, I definitely admit to getting defensive on this particular post. Have experienced way too much ageism in this country since I got to AARP age that I cannot let it pass without comment:)

Your making my point and I agree. I am also way past AARP age. We find a cruise line we like---for whatever reasons---and get comfortable with that line as it gives us the vacation we want---then the changes start---for better or worse--and that concerns us. That was all I meant--no offence intended

The smoking on the balcony thing is a mixed bag. On one hand, you'd think it would not be a problem because it's outside. However, we've had two cruises where we couldn't even use our balcony because chain smokers were up wind from us and used their's constantly. We couldn't even open our door because the smoke didn't realize we had a non-smoking room.

Maybe they should make the rooms at the back of the ship be for smokers. I can understand their predicament. It must be difficult for them in that kind of circumstance. But, maybe that wouldn't work either because they smoke tends to go up and then it would invade eating areas.

I'm not sure how you ever make smoking work without someone being affected.

It doesn't seem fair that a smoker couldn't smoke outside, but, it's also unfair for someone to pay for a balcony they can't use because of the smoke.

I am not a smoker so I appreciate Celebrity's policy. I don't look at them with any sort of "look" when they are smoking in a designated area. I may not go to that area, but I feel they have the right to use it for that purpose. I think I may turn someone in if their smoking precluded me from using my balcony (as has happened). If it were "every once in a while" I probably wouldn't say anything and just use my balcony when they weren't.

The rule is firm and clear: NO SMOKING ON BALCONY OR IN CABIN! You should have reported the smoking as soon as you noticed it. I have and will!

This isn't limited to the Celebrity boards. I viewed HAL boards the same way. People that love a particular cruise line, are often quick to go to bat for that cruise line, which can be construed as aggression. People just want to fight for the line they love :-)

Odd. I come to the Celebrity board because the people here are polite to each other. Occasionally you get a nasty person but nothing like the other boards.

Like most of the posters here, internet board vs. on board= two different worlds! One of our favorite things to do on board is hang out at the bar near the MDR right before late dining, (we are boring folks who like to eat as early as possible :) ) We've met the most fascinating people there, it seems like the people who cruise often dine late, & they've got some great stories to tell...

What I'm trying to say, is that one of the best aspects of a cruise is the opportunity to mingle with people that you wouldn't in your day to day lives.. & to write off fellow cruisers as "aggressive" or any other negative label before you've actually interacted with them, is a potential loss... people are not always what they seem at first glance.

Hope you have a great cruise & new experiences!

I recently posted on the P&O site forum that any new cruiser checking the forum might well be put off cruising because of the strong opinions displayed by many forum members, I do not necessarily exclude myself from this category.

However since only a very small percentage of the those who do cruise frequent these forums then its safe to ignore most of these issues; and even if you happen to cruise with one of these posters its more than likely that they will be having such a good time that even they will be ignoring "rule" transgressors, at least until they return home.

So cheer up X forum members, you are not such a bad lot really.

No such luck. I just got off of the Century (to Alaska) and found many of the passengers boorish, rude and inconsiderate.

Canuck Cruiser 42 -- so sorry to hear that. We sailed Century to Hawaii last April, and encountered the most delightful folks on board! Can you elaborate a little about the negative behavior you encountered? I've always believed that (generally speaking) small ships make for polite passengers. It's sort of like living in a small town -- everyone knows that they will be seeing each other all over the ship, so they are on their best behavior!

Aaahhh....but we already knew that! ;)
