bighairtexan Posted March 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2013 I love pancakes. I love salmon. Salmon pancakes (and like BND I must have blocked them from my mind) sound um...er.... odd? Of course I love escargot and some people wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.
Merion_Mom Posted March 2, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2013 Is there any chance WHATSOEVER that you are asking about lox and bagels? I sure hope so; salmon pancakes would get a huge thumbs-down from me!
cruiseguy4567 Posted March 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 2, 2013 Got off Enchantment this week and don't remember them. They did have Salmon Benedict though. As far as the pancakes they were chocolate, and assorted fruits changing daily.

negc Posted March 8, 2013 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Still no word on the salmon pancakes? Never heard of them and it looks like no one else including many veterans of RCI are in the same situation. Even on our Alaska cruises they were not a menu item. Where and when did you ever have them on an RCI ship? It seems a bit early for an April 1 post.
ahecht Posted March 8, 2013 #10 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Closest I saw for breakfast were crab cakes.
deltahog Posted March 8, 2013 #11 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Closest I saw for breakfast were crab cakes. Crab cakes for breakfast? Really? The same kind usually served as a dinner appetizer?
VillaHappy Posted March 8, 2013 #12 Share Posted March 8, 2013 I have never seen salmon pancakes...ever. However, I have enjoyed lox and bagels!

Even on our Alaska cruises they were not a menu item. Where and when did you ever have them on an RCI ship? It seems a bit early for an April 1 post. Or, perhaps Spring Break? RCCL has never served salmon pancakes on any ship I've sailed in the last 40 years, and that's as of December 2012.
Dayenu Posted March 8, 2013 #14 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Never heard of salmon pancakes! Maybe salmon omelette? Or another egg dish with salmon? Or not on RCI?
ahecht Posted March 8, 2013 #15 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Crab cakes for breakfast? Really? The same kind usually served as a dinner appetizer? They were billed as Crab Cake Benedict, but it was served as eggs benedict (minus the Canadian bacon) with a crab cake on the side.
PH8 Posted March 8, 2013 #16 Share Posted March 8, 2013 another one who has never heard of salmon pancakes.....either on RCCL or anywhere..

DrD Posted March 8, 2013 #18 Share Posted March 8, 2013 Peasants! ;) It's not a real pancake, it's more like a blini that would be found under some caviar. A blini is a non-sweet pancake, usually made from potato. A salmon "pancake" is usually salmon with some creme fraiche on the "pancake." (blini) If you google it you will see some nice pictures and might change your minds! I have no idea if they have them but if they do I'll eat a bunch. prayfordaylight Posted March 8, 2013 #19 Share Posted March 8, 2013 They were billed as Crab Cake Benedict, but it was served as eggs benedict (minus the Canadian bacon) with a crab cake on the side. They call it Eggs Maryland in these parts. It's one of my favorite brunch items.

Nope, never seen that on RCI either, so us "peasants" must be on the wrong cruise line. You had to google it didn't you? Come on, fess up.
