first timerZ11 Posted June 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Not planning on buying anythinh but drinks on the cruise. Goin on a 3 day bahamas cruise is 250 enough for one person bar tab ?
oakridger Posted June 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 30, 2013 It depends on how much and what you drink! Check the prices on the ship you are sailing on.
paul929207 Posted June 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 30, 2013 I would hope that 250 would cover your tab for three days, but it is up to you
Elaine5715 Posted June 30, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 30, 2013 That is about 20 drinks...so plan accordingly
Waterloomarc Posted June 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Depends on what you drink. I generally drink beer on a cruise (scotch at home but that's a whole other rabbit hole) and most beer can be had for around $6 on Carnival or NCL which I'm assuming by virtue of a 3 day cruise. Domestics can probably be had for less than that. $250 would buy closer to 40 beer. But yes cocktails and mixed drinks the money would run out sooner. Only you know you liver and can determine if its enough. It would be enough for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
maureencruiser Posted June 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 30, 2013 You are cruising on RCCL, they offer beverage packages which you might be interested in, I think there is one that is $55/ day - someone else would know more or you can look on their website. I'm assuming you're over 21 - do not drink so much that you end up laying in your cabin all day and missing all the activities. :(

Rare Scrapnana Posted June 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Sounds like the premium package would be a good deal (if you plan to have 6 or more drinks a day) and still be less than the $250 you have budgeted.
TruckerDave Posted June 30, 2013 #9 Share Posted June 30, 2013 I'm no teetotaler (I did my part to keep the brewers and distillers stock prices high when I was younger;) ) but the thought of just going on a cruise to drink holds no appeal to me whatsoever. But to each his own I guess, this coming from somebody who is thinking of spending $1300 for a camera lens. (I really need cheaper hobbies...photography and travel bad mix :D )
GORDONCHICK Posted June 30, 2013 #10 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Is that $250 also supposed to cover the daily service charges?
dorisis Posted June 30, 2013 #11 Share Posted June 30, 2013 If you figure between $5 to $10 per drink then all you need is to figure how many drinks you will consome in 3 days.

KirkNC Posted June 30, 2013 #13 Share Posted June 30, 2013 That's a lot of drinks in three days, don't you want to remember the cruise?
sail7seas Posted June 30, 2013 #14 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Will the automatic tips be on your ship board account bill? If so, remember to have enough cash/credit card comfort to pay the tips in addition to your bar bill.
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 30, 2013 #15 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Is that $250 suppose to cover drinks + 15% gratuity, the daily service charge on the ship, anything you buy on shore (like food and drinks)?
NMLady Posted June 30, 2013 #16 Share Posted June 30, 2013 I presume you realize that your drinks aboard ship will be charged to your shipboard key card, that you don't pay cash for them. As others have mentioned, include the obligatory 15% gratuity that will be added to each drink price. Also be sure you budget in your daily service charge when you're figuring your budget. Elaine5715 Posted June 30, 2013 #19 Share Posted June 30, 2013 With just beer, $250 should be fine plus remind your travel partners they owe you a birthday beer .
maureencruiser Posted June 30, 2013 #20 Share Posted June 30, 2013 If just drinking beer, go with the classic beverage package, that is $45/day or $135 for the total cruise - I'm not sure what brands of beer are covered, maybe someone else can chime in here...It also includes fountain soda and juice for when you need to rehydrate...You say you don't plan to drink to excess, that's good, because you know the ship can and WILL put you off in the Bahamas if you are too drunk, abusive to others, destructive, etc...
