New promotion!?!

Recommended Posts

It seems to be quite the crap-shoot.

I'll just view it as Christmas morning - either it's there and it's a huge bonus! or it's not, and oh well, next time... (but I'll have my fingers crossed really really tight as I look for it on the ship!)

Just heard from Carnival and they said I did not qualify.

Was it divided per person on your booking? I use my Carnival MC and just got off the Imagination (8/5 cruise) and there was like a $10 per person credit (and 5 of us on the booking). I never applied for the promotion...I don't think. I am just wondering if that's what the credit was for.

Mostly it was a refund of taxes/fees. That amount sounds like what they usually are.

The OBC would not be split. It would be credited to the MC charged for the S&S.

I sent Carnival an e-mail and this was the response that they sent me today:

Thank you for contacting us. We appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.

Unfortunately, our system does not advise which step in the process was not complete.

We receive confirmation to advise which guests are eligible, after they have completed our steps and we are unable to locate your information to apply onboard credit.

Thank you for choosing Carnival.

I have responded back to them that I would like to have Master Card's address because I had a screen shot of the form that was submitted..and I wanted to know what part of the process did they not have.

And then Carnival sent me a survey a few minutes ago and wanted to know about the e-mail and if it answered all my questions and how satisfied I was with the response.

I also wrote to them and got the same response.

Honestly, I'm getting a little tired of this.

I NEVER get any promotional emails. Doesn't matter that I booked using my MC and have used it to set up my onboard accounts. Sorry!

I NEVER get anything from the Casino club. Doesn't matter how much I spend (or don't). Seems like virtual newbies have recently received offers for FREE cruises.

I NEVER get upgrade offers.

Sheesh. I did my first B2B last October and it seems that every single person who has ever done one received a gift basket in their cabin for Leg 2. Not me!! Not a single thing from anyone.

Is it because I sail too often? Do the marketing folks think "hey, why offer HER anything? She's going to cruise with Carnival anyway! We'll give a bunch of stuff to everyone else and let this solo cruise pay for two people and not offer her one single incentive to continue to cruise with us!!!"

Sorry. I'm just getting a little tired of it. And a plate of chocolates that I don't want and a crappy gift is NOT much of an incentive.

Guess I should STOP booking cruises and then maybe they'll offer me something. But I doubt it! I think I'll go rant at John Heald. Not that he cares (since I'm not going to rave about how WONDERFUL he is).

I also cruise Carnival solo all the time and believe that a lot of it has to do with being a solo cruiser. I have never been offered anything either.

My sister that cruises an average of once a year gets free upgrades (from inside to outside and on her last cruise inside to a balcony) almost every cruise. And before everyone says they do not give free upgrades anymore I know hers are free because I manage her cruises for her and when she gets to the pier she has the upgrades. She also gets things from the players club and I am in the casino more than she is. I also do ship tours when cruising solo and she never does ship tours since she never cruises solo.

By the way I am Diamond and my sister is being grandfathered into Platinum with 10 cruises but only about 60 days. So you might be correct in the frequent cruisers do not get as much as the cruisers that do not cruise as frequently.

But I do enjoy the free gift and do not think they are crappy. I do feel you pain as I have a lot of the same gripes as you.

Dh and I take 3 to 5 cruises with Carnival a year and we have never been offered an upgrade, a free cruise, a discount or anything. Not sure how they do it but there are two of us sailing, so not because you sail solo. Maybe because they know we are going to cruise if they offer us anything or not like you said.

I never get promotional emails either. It is hit or miss with dh. We both have everything checked that we are suppose to on the website.

We have gotten things such as fruit baskets, chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne for our b2b's.

I sail this sunday July 28th on the splendor I will post and let you know ....

I'm bumping this thread back to the top hoping that Keene State Mom will see it and update us. And could you please let us know if you used the Carnival MasterCard to book your cruise? Did you receive the e-mail or just use the link posted here?

Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear that some of our fellow cruises did not receive their MC OBC.

Both times I applied for the MC OBC (for my March and December 2012 cruises), everything worked well. I never received a confirmation email. You do have to make sure that you're using a MC (doesn't have to be the Carnival one) to get the OBC. I know in the past, the stopped the promo ahead of schedule, as they maxed out their allotted lucky folks.

If you are not receiving emails from Carnival - sign up again on their homepage. I went the longest time not hearing a peep, then voilà - I started getting them again.

Oh, and I should mention that for my December 2012 cruise, I did get a call from the Upgrade Fairy - the offer was to move me from a Lido deck quad cabin to an OS - for over $750 bucks. I declined. I think it's all about the category - more demand for some than others.

I get what I've paid for...a wonderful cruise experience, never expect anything more. I win plenty of stuff, but I NEVER expect it. Good things come when least expected!

Just off the Valor today. No OBC for us. I took my printout to the Purser's Desk last night and the girl spent a lot of time in the back trying to figure out what credit it was. She finally said that since it was the last night and inquiries to Miami take at least 3 business days for a response, I would need to call 800- Carnival and ask them about it.

So if you have your printout and no credit, inquire earlier in your cruise. I didn't really expect to get it, so I'll just let it go.

Good luck to everyone else!

I made a deposit on my carnival MC and filled out the form. I'm leaving in a month so I called to confirm. Carnival service desk didn't know anything and told me to call MC. After asking 4 people I was told to just call Carnival again. As of now, there is no OBC for using my mastercard to book. $200 would be nice OBC but I'm not counting on it.

I am guessing that I am not going to receive the Mastercard Credit on my November 16th cruise......the last time they ran the promotion I didn't receive the credit until a week or two before sailing....but I haven't noticed anyone posting lately that they were receiving the credit....

As previously noted, it appears that unless you received the ORIGINAL email offering, it doesn't matter that you used your MC and you filled out the form online and received their little registration confirmation. You will NOT receive the OBC unless you are on the original "list" of people.

No point in wasting anyone's time at the service desk. No point in wasting paper printing out the stupid confirmatoin that you applied for the OBC unless you really, truly received the original offer.

If ANYONE has actually received the OBC that did NOT receive the original offer, please let us know because, as I've already stated, I was told that you have to be "on the list" to receive the OBC.

I'm so ticked off about it that when I board next month, if there's no OBC, I'm going to the service desk and switching my onboard account to my Visa. Thanks for nothing, MasterCard! :(

Do come back after your cruise to update us. I'll then change my onboard account back to my AmEx card.
