shrimp56 Posted July 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Who is the current Eurodam captain. Also anyone who got off recently, how is the ship? Also any hints for coping with a larger ship than we're used to. Our previous HAL ships have been Volendam and Veendam.
CruiserBruce Posted July 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Also any hints for coping with a larger ship than we're used to. Just sit back and relax. It will be great.
sail7seas Posted July 7, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 7, 2013 We first cruised Eurodam, when she was new, out of curiousity to see HAL's then newest ship. We expected to see her likely not return. We found we liked her so much more than we expected and have now sailed Eurodam five cruises. :) She's a terrifi ship IMO Be sure to have dinner in Tamarind and enjoy a cocktail in Silk Den. Both lovely venues.
RuthC Posted July 7, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Also any hints for coping with a larger ship than we're used to. Our previous HAL ships have been Volendam and Veendam. When going long distances on the ship, for example dining room to show lounge, break up the walk. Walk forward from the dining room to the mid-ship area, then change decks before you continue forward. It really makes the length of the ship seem shorter. When heading up to the Silk Den or Tamarind, use the correct elevator bank in the first place, or you will have a lot of backtracking to do.
shrimp56 Posted July 7, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Thanks for the advice:) I already have 2 Tamarind reservations and have the Silk Den on my radar. And the "break up the walk" idea is great! Also the right elevator is a good reminder that not everything is connected. It looks as though it is the center elevators that will get you there. And that Lido deck is the best deck to use to get there. Am I right?
sail7seas Posted July 7, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 7, 2013 You need to go to Observation Deck forward for Tamarind and Silk Den.

The mid-ship elevators/staircase gets you to the Silk Den/Tamarind. That elevator bank can be accessed from every deck, so it doesn't matter from where you approach it. I came from my cabin on Main Deck, forward. I did learn, after a few times taking the mid-ship elevator, that I couldn't get to the Internet center from there. :o Had to go forward first. shrimp56 Posted July 7, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Understood:) ATM we're on a VT GUAR so potentially on Observation deck. Question is The Pinnacle Bar a public bar?
sail7seas Posted July 7, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 7, 2013 By pass the elevators at the MDR. They do not go to Observation Deck. You have to use mid ship or forward elevators.
RuthC Posted July 7, 2013 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Question is The Pinnacle Bar a public bar? Yes. They are happy to take money from everybody. ;)
sail7seas Posted July 7, 2013 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2013 You do not have to be dining in Pinnacle to enjoy a drink in Pinnacle Bar. It is one of our favorite bars though surprisingly underused IMO

Typhoon1 Posted July 7, 2013 #14 Share Posted July 7, 2013 Check out the Tamarind. Eurodam also has one of the finest art collections in the fleet. Take the Ipod art tour on sea day.

Jean1946 Posted July 10, 2013 #23 Share Posted July 10, 2013 You already know who the captain is, so I'll just tell you we just got off our 3rd cruise (Baltic) on June 30th. Loved it and we plan to be on her again one of these days.
