Onessa Posted December 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) the first "d" in DH, DD, DS, etc. I generally consider as "dear" or "darling" - but in some cases "darn" (or other equivelents) may be substituted! Depends upon the "H" Edited December 19, 2013 by Onessa

Rare ghstudio Posted December 19, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 19, 2013 The H and W are the easy part as others have pointed out. Depending on your mood, you can replace the D with things like Drunk, Dull, Despicable, Dear, Darling, etc.
CruisinNole Posted December 19, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 19, 2013 The first time I saw DH on CC and figured out what it meant, I asked my husband how he'd feel being called a DH. His reponse -- "why would you call me a "Designated Hitter"? Then he commented that he didn't think it really took that long to type "husband" or "wife". I think I agree with him. disneydave Posted December 19, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 19, 2013 And on the Disney forums you replace Dear with Disney. Disney Wife Disney daughter. Disney.......... Took me a while to realize over here everyone wasn't a Disney fan and was saying dear.

bighairtexan Posted December 20, 2013 #18 Share Posted December 20, 2013 It does get confusing w/ DS or DD. Is that dear sister? or Son… Dad or Daughter. Sometimes I have to read things twice because my mind has run amok w/ the wrong interpretation.
Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted December 20, 2013 #19 Share Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) I"m pretty sure that when I was a CC newbie I found an official answer to this question -- but now I can't find the link! [Must be an internet version of Old Timers, LOL] But a Google search shows that DH is a universal "chat speak" abbrev for Dear Husband or Darling Husband. Likewise DW [wife], DS [son], DD [daughter]. My recollection is that SIL and DIL don't get the extra D for "dear" [does that say something???] And let's not go there about MIL... ;) Edit: Just realized that SIL is ambiguous (son-in-law or sister-in-law). Somebody please clarify this one for me!!! Edited December 20, 2013 by jazzbeau
