Strange new review about the NA

This one had my scratching my head, it's too bad there's no way to respond to a review:

 

 

"Deck 2 is comprised of the Manhattan Restaurant which costs additional $$ - The menu consists of the exact same food you find on the Lido deck – There may be a couple items added to the menu but 90% of what you see is on the menu for an additional cost is what you can get for free at the anytime dining. There were countless occasions where we seen other passengers Dressed for a romantic night dinner in the Lido Restaurant and countless times we heard “Why pay extra when we can get the same thing free”. This deck is also home to 3 lounges – the casino and the Pinnacle Restaurant which again is dining for an additional fee, with the same food offered on the Lido Deck. Don’t waste your money "

 

Did this person actually go to the dining room and think it cost extra? Did someone tell them that so they ate in the Lido 3 meals a day, all week thinking that was their only option with anytime dining? What a colossal misunderstanding!

On the Grand Princess one year, we were seated at a table for 8 with only 6 of us for most of the cruise. On the next to last night, the last couple joined us. They were newbies who didn't really do any research, and their TA hadn't explained things to them. They had been eating dinner in the buffet every night. A chance conversation with another passenger had resulted in them finding their way to the dining room at the end of the cruise!

I'm not convinced this person actually ever sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam.

As to the people who didn't know about Main Dining Room, it's hard to hide a venue that large. Didn't they walk around the ship? Didn't they wonder about that huge dining area? Didn't they see people moving in one direction each evening in that direction and wonder. Didn't they ask?

 

I find it so hard to understand how someone would be unaware the ship had that huge dining room.

 

When we first cruised, there was no internet and our TA was 'long distance'. I am very sure she didn't have to tell us to go to the dining room for dinner. :) It's a long time ago but I'd venture to say we figured that out. :D

I read that...something's not right. If I was researching that ship, that is a review that I would discount as either completely false or grossly misrepresented.

I just read the review.

Sad -- they have cruised on RCI and think HAL charges to eat in the main dining room. Guess they never heard of asking questions.

 

If, as they said, they are experienced cruisers, there's no way they thought there was a charge for the MDR.

I agree! They're either bored and trying to stir up trouble, or they tried HAL looking for a line where they can smoke on their balcony and didn't like it compared to what they're used to.

I just finished reading this review. Wow, is all I can say. One question in passing would have cleared up the dining situation. "We have only sailed RCI and the dining room is no extra charge, why is that not the case with HAL?" Any one of the crew could have set them straight with the correct answer.

We were on a cruise a couple of years ago and every night there were a couple of empty chairs. Finally, the very last night, two young ladies showed up and said they did not know they had been assigned a dining time and had been eating at the Lido the entire time. So, it happens, probably more than we think.

 

We now pretty much go with ATD and never know if anyone is missing or not.

I would say that he has totally misrepresented what one can experience on Nieuw Amsterdam.

And the sad thing is that people who are contemplating this ship will get a completely false overview of their potential cruise.

He really seems to be a 'gloomy gus' and I'm glad I didn't sail with him.

 

Hope he manages to find his way back home to a RCI ship.

I didn't fully realize how puzzling this review is until I actually read the review itself. At first, I thought the person had a good writing style and then serious grammar errors popped up. Too many details to think the person was not on the ship, but his perception is just amazing to me. The other posts on this thread don't give the full flavor of the review itself.

If this person actually sailed on NA I'm just wondering how they made it to the ship. Also they neglected to mention the crew member at the end of the gangway that collects the admission fee for the ship.

I think this message was a plant by *CC*. It was written by an alleged member Srandaz2, but there is no member in the member list by that name.

So, how did it get posted? It was posted by a *CC* Admin.

 

Keep in mind that *CC* was started on AOL but it is now owned by Trip Advisor, which is a publicly held travel company listed on the NASDAQ under the symbol TRIP.

With no personal remarks intended, just a situation, an old story:

 

A monkey's sight with age had begun to fail, nevertheless it heard from some people that: it is not yet the end of world, one only have to lay one's hands on glasses.
