Good question.

I am curious as well.

I went to order alcohol for our cabin for a future cruise and the prices have gone up there.

KK: How much was the price increase? Was it across the board, or just on certain bottles? TIA....

I had to laugh out loud at HAL's new wines that were added. I could be wrong, but I think most of us wanted a better selection in the lower priced category. At least I did!!

I don't think they heard that....but they are trying to please those people who turned up their noses at the previous selections. These new wines are for those who were upset at not being able to bring wine onboard, because they preferred superior vintages! This is a hoot!

I am will to bet big bucks that very few indulge in these additions. They will be aged quite nicely---possibly to vinegar in time!

I also wanted a better selection in the lower priced wine. It's outrageous that HAL raised the price of the Robert Mondavi Private Selection Merlot. It was way too expensive before - since it only costs $8.47 in my local WA Total Wine store.

You are all welcome.

I read the new list to my DH and he laughed. No way will we be buying any of them.

And some of the alcohol prices -- getting out of line. DH has informed me -- no more bottles of Grey Goose for the cabin. We can 2 bottles of Stoli's or Absolut for the price of 1 bottle of Grey Goose.

KK - thanks so much for the updated list.

WOW! so much for the theory that the wine price might be reduced with the new policy.

Glad I already ordered the Grey Goose for two upcoming cruises. It's gone up nearly $10 since I ordered. Scary!

Thanks again.

That Grey Goose is way higher than we had ordered it for our last Nieuw Amsterdam cruise and the cruise we had to cancel last week.

Don't calculate the markups. It will make your head hurt, particularly if you consider that your price in the store is above restaurant wholesale.

I am nearly certain that the Villa Maria was less on the Westerdam than the price you found, KK. I am thinking the higher price is what I saw on the Eurodam and the lesser price is what I saw on the Westerdam. I don't have a photo of the wine list, so I can't be sure.

Certainly the way to go is with the wine packages, particularly is one qualifies for a Mariner's discount.

I thought Cunard's wine prices were high. Fortunately we can take it or leave it - well, I have to admit I would rather take it. DW has to limit alcohol due to various medications, so we may order a glass now and then instead of sending the bottle away to be kept for the next dinner. Is there anything decent served by the glass?
