Navigator of the Seas – March 25rd Sailing

March 25, 2014

6:00 p.m. E.D.T.

Royal Caribbean International has received word from the U.S. Coast Guard that Navigator of the Seas will be able to depart Galveston early tomorrow morning. We are excited about being able to provide our guests with a portion of their cruise, with a port call to Cozumel, Mexico, on Friday, March 28. Guests that would like to sail and need to check in again, would need to be at the terminal between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, with the same government issued ID they used on Sunday, as well as their seapass card (if they still have it on hand). All guests will still receive a full refund whether they decide to sail or not

So some people stayed on ship, enjoyed full service everything, still get to cruise for at least a few days, then get full refund plus 25% on top for a future cruise?? How do I sign up for this program??!! I would do this in a heartbeat. Sad though that it came with an environmental cost

We'll I hope they have a nice few days cruising. I know if I had left but lived nearby, I would throw a few things in a carry on and be back on the ship in the morning. IMHO, no one should be upset about what is worn in the MDR in the evenings on this one - just be happy and have fun!

That is great news for all the passengers on board enjoying the ship while it is docked.

It is apparent that RC is doing the right thing by still giving those pax a short cruise anyway plus a refund. Nice to see a big company steppin' up like that.

I feel for those affected by the oil spill.

Good news. It is a win-win for everyone with the exception of those who chose to disembark... wonder how many did that?

I would love to know how many people left too. We are embarking Sunday and I'm curious to know what kind of madhouse to expect :D

We actually got off the boat. There seemed to be more staying on than getting off. They never mentioned the boat might go out and we didn't want to be stuck in Galveston for days. It was cold.

RCI did everything they could and we were certainly impressed. Way to go!

We left this afternoon and do not plan to return tomorrow for the sailing. We drove and were facing a shutdown of the parking access and our car until Sunday. Certainly not Royal's fault. We could drive back tomorrow but we are really done with back and forth. We got a full refund and already booked another cruise on her in November.

I am very happy for those onboard. Had we known this was coming, we would have stayed. But we made the right decision at the time. We absolutely did not want to be onboard until Sunday with no car access staying docked in Galveston. No regrets on our decision. :)

There will be other cruises.

Princess gave 100% refunds then took a shortened cruise earlier today.

Both Carnival ships sailed out today.

The only reason RC changed their mind was because they looked pretty foolish sitting in Galveston for no good reason...

I also think they gave a full refund is because the Princess gave 100% refund:eek:

Royal does not always do that as we were on the Jewel out of Boston when Hurricane Sandy came in and we did not leave for 2 days, stayed on the ship, no stores open and the Casino was not open because we were in port, and we missed 2 ports in the Southern Caribbean, we did not get a thing for that cruise so I wonder why the navigator got what they got?:confused::confused:

OK, let me get this straight.

All passengers get 100% refund. Those who stayed on the ship, or came back to ship today, get to sail at least 4 days, plus 100% back, and get 25% off a future cruise.

Wow, that is an awesome deal. Wish I was there. :D:

Actually, if I had been there, I would have stayed on the ship. Even if it had to stay at the pier all week. I still wouldn't have had to make beds, cook, or clean for a week. That's still a win, in my book.

Of course I'm retired, so wouldn't have been under any time constraints for work. Also drive to pier, so no flights to worry about either.

And you know this because you were in contact with the powers that be at Royal Caribbean that made this decision? Right. The only one looking foolish here is you.

I was on the cruise on the Navigator last week. We didn't get off the ship until 8 pm and didn't know during the day if we would be able to get into the port at Galveston. Had we not been able to get in port we would most likely have had to go to New Orleans to disembark. So there was uncertainty for all of us.

People had to change flights, etc.

Royal Caribbean went out of their way to keep us informed. As it was a Spring Break cruise there were a lot of kids on board. They opened up the Arcade for free all day Sunday and all pay per view movies in cabin were complimentary. We were happy with the way it was handled.

Now the embarkation the Sunday before….another story entirely. A real mess. And I am not talking about the late embarkation due to fog, that was handled well with cell phone calls to us from Royal. But when they were ready for us to embark late they had a mass of people trying to get in one entrance door at the pier with no order, no lines, no employees helping, nothing. Royal Caribbean gets a D+ at best for that and it WAS under their control.

Great cruise though and weather in all 3 ports was awesome. New restaurants Sabor and Izumi as well as Giovanni's Table were great. Chops however, raised their price and dropped favorite menu items, not a very smart move. We found the food fine but missed the dropped items. I would much rather go to the other specialty restaurants than Chops now.

You have a wonderful attitude...much better than some people who weren't even on this cruise, but are using this as an opportunity to slam RCI. I hope you have a great rest of the week and nothing but calm seas and sunny skies on your next cruise.:)

I wonder what happened with embarkation because when I got off the ship there was an organized line at the door, with two or three employees watching the line and telling folks it would be a while still.
