Diamond Lounge

Recommended Posts

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the Diamond Lounge and the Concierge Club.

Except on Oasis and Allure, both venues have the same perks. The difference is who has access. The CL is for full suite guests and D+/PC Crown & Anchor members. The DL is for Diamond and above members.

On Oasis and Allure, the CL offers made to order breakfast and lunch, which is different than the CL on other ships.

We had access to both areas on Granduer. The Diamond area was by far nicer. The staff of the Diamond were much more attentive then the Concierge. (Which you would think would be opposite because there are more Diamonds than Suites). The food was always hot and replenished, was often cold and empty in the Concierge. The Diamond Concierge was always available in the lounge during hours, the Suite Concierge was not present many of the advertised times, because of that, many people brought many friends who were not in suites into the lounge (We could personally see their blue room cards and were told by several that one person had a suite but a family of 7 came with them). We will stick to the Diamond from now on. Try both and see which is better for each ship, they are not always the same!

Are you saying that some people brought their friends who were not entitled to be in the lounge?

If so, then the Diamond Concierge was indeed not doing their job!

Absolutely. There were people we saw wearing their card on a lanyard which was a blue card. Several people we met said they were in inside and balcony cabins, but traveling with suite holders and used the lounge nightly (as well as the breakfast in Giovanni's, ect). No one bothered to check. This morning at debarkation, there were many again, there was no room in the lounge, so we took our coffee and sat in the Viking Crown right outside the door. Many people tried the door, it didn't work with there blue card, then waited until someone went in and followed them in and helped themselves to breakfast. The suite concierge was no where to be found today, so the diamond concierge eventually came and took us off the ship. Those same people followed him down and got off the ship with the suite holders. You just had to be at the right place and the right time and follow the crowd

It actually is the Diamond Club and Concierge Lounge, but clarea's information is correct. :)
Actually RCI is their usual consistently inconsistent on this matter. If you look at the Brilliance http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/ship/home.do?shipClassCode=RD&shipCode=BR&br=R it refers to Diamond Lounge and Concierge Club (but the deck plans call both of them Clubs. Sometimes I think that RCI has a person whose sole job is to make their website as inconsistent as possible.

Bottom Line: The concierge allowed the suite guests to break the rules by allowing them to bring fairly large numbers of their friends into the lounge.

The problem is that this creates the problem of overcrowding, as you alluded to.

Gotta laugh at those who regularly condemn Pinnacles and D+ for a sense of "entitlement" but not suite guests!

We have reached Diamond level, so what actually will we be entitled to on our next cruise. Sort of confused as to what to expect in the Diamond lounge. Thanks.

It seems like the DL, and even the CL, differs ship to ship. We recently cruised on Serenade, and last summer on Grandeur, and we found on both ships that the DL concierge and staff to be absolutely wonderful. We enjoyed every minute we spent in those lounges--and we were there every morning for breakfast, and every evening for cocktails and hor d oeurves.

Bob, where are you? Drum roll please, and let these kind folks know exactly what Royal Caribbean has listed for "perks" in the Diamond Club/Lounge!

I will say, that it's nice, a private space, with, if you embibe, a nice selection of liquors, beers and wine from 5 to 8 PM every night.

There are other perks, but someone will have the link to Royal Caribbeans website to give what Royal does for you in their DL.:)

When you board, there will be a letter in your room from the Diamond Conceirge that will detail all the perks.

On Navigator, we had separate keys for the Diamond lounge. No gate crashers that we could tell. On Independence, the Diamond Concierge stood outside the lounge checking our cards. We even met a couple that had been asked to leave because they were not diamonds.

The card color doesn't matter. You can have a blue card and be Diamond Plus which allows you to use the Concierge Club. The cards have your level printed on them.

Gold cards are for suite and pinnacle members.

Silver cards are for junior suites.

Blue cards are for all other cabins.

this is interesting. who was the CL that trip? we had Francis and he was very approachable and always around during hours. and we NEVER ran out of food, and let's just say the bar tender who worked the room.. did not know the meaning of a the phrase "half a glass"

I will say it is a VERY small venue and laid out very poorly.

Is there a Lounge that 'Platinum' members can enjoy in addition to the 'Diamond'?

the Diamond club is for D, D+ and Pinnacle only

the CL is for Pinnacle and all suite guests ( regardless of C&A status) ( and all D+ )

so unless you are in a suite there is nothing for Platinum members
