dexddd Posted June 27, 2014 #9 Share Posted June 27, 2014 It changed in the last year roughly. As a result, we didn't buy anything on the last trip. Also, watch your prices. On our last two trips sailing out of NY on the Spirit and BA they marked up items in the perfume shop the last day.
puddles99 Posted June 27, 2014 #10 Share Posted June 27, 2014 It's the one time only clause that gets me. You're basically forced to figure out exactly what types of souvenirs you might want and check out once. Poor planning (or forgetfulness, or any other reason) results in loss of discount. Kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Not that anyone asked my opinion, of course! :p

NMLady Posted June 27, 2014 #13 Share Posted June 27, 2014 Discount was changed just recently to just NCL products and one time only. Actually it changed last year since that discount rule was in effect on our cruise last October.

Tiggertastic Posted June 27, 2014 #16 Share Posted June 27, 2014 yes I'm platinum and went to get my discount and was told I couldn't have it and was only available on NCL Logo items
Hikini Posted June 27, 2014 #17 Share Posted June 27, 2014 I think there is also a discount in the photo gallery - or is that only for Platinum members? I'm terrible about checking my receipts. We've been Platinum for quite awhile and I don't pay enough attention to know if we've received the discounts or not.
Ilovesailing Posted June 27, 2014 #18 Share Posted June 27, 2014 I didn't know about the change. The discount was a nice perk. Really! When your over paying for everything to begin with. There is also NO discount on liquor or cigs. Except if they run a liquor sale first night to grab business before folks realize it's cheaper in the ports. BritChickBN1 Posted June 27, 2014 #20 Share Posted June 27, 2014  I got the discount on 2 separate purchases a few weeks ago. I used my card both times. Maybe I just got lucky?
PatJim Posted June 28, 2014 #21 Share Posted June 28, 2014 We were on the Gem in May, and were told that the discount only applied to NCL products. We've usually bought something in the gift shop, but while this new policy is in effect, our Platinum discount won't be of use to us. It IS a bummer!:( Think it's a policy change by whatever company is handling their gift shop, perfume shop, etc. If sales go down, maybe they will rethink it. [One can hope.]

Kind of like the time we bought liquor and the new employee gave us the bottle to take back to the cabin, lol.
LrgPizza Posted June 29, 2014 #23 Share Posted June 29, 2014 I had no idea it was one time only, and neither did the sales associates with whom I dealt. The first week of June I bought items 3 separate times, and was given the discount each time without asking.
