I don't think CoCo Cay will get a lot of business until the storms passes. Edited August 24, 2014 by FLACRUISER99

But, If you see the "barf" bags everywhere.....not a good sign. Safe travels. Sea Ya

lovesthebeach2 Posted August 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) I never ever get seasick, but my DH is usually so bad that he can't even go on most amusement park rides. On one cruise years ago we hit a real bad storm and had 30' seas. I was in the cabin, I couldn't even get off the bed......he was fine, partying on the top deck, why you ask......... He was drinking, I wasn't . So if you start to feel rocking, start drinking! :D Edited August 24, 2014 by lovesthebeach2

ac1 Posted August 24, 2014 #11 Share Posted August 24, 2014 One of our best cruises were on The Big Red Boat in 1990, we were having rough weather trying to avoid the hurricane. My husband won thecmost money in the casino that trip and was also named King of the cruise! Our drinks were free all week. We had a blast! Hope everyone out ther this week have a great time! We will be sailing out Sat.8/30 on the Jewel. Hoping for clear weather from norfolk on Sat to fly out.

Life is Good Cruising Posted August 24, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 24, 2014 (edited) A few changes already. Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas: The ship will skip Nassau on August 24, spending a day at sea. Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas: FOS will not call in CocoCay on August 25; instead, spending a day at sea. Allure of the Seas will not stop at Royal Caribbean's private island of CocoCay on August 25 and will have a sea day instead. Rare island lady Posted August 24, 2014 #19 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Allure can't go to Cocoa Cay. It can only go to ports of call that has hard dock set up. Cocoa Cay is a tendered port of call. I am guessing Majesty and Enchantment may have some schedule changes.
cruzinlady1947 Posted August 24, 2014 #20 Share Posted August 24, 2014 Or perhaps a Bermuda cruise.:) Oh, I certainly hope not.....I love Bermuda, but not 9 days worth. I'm on the Explorer with "island lady". I think we will be fine. Just wish Capt. Olav was still the Capt. on the Explorer. He got them through "Sandy". Great guy, but he retired.:( OP, have a great cruise. I hope the weather is good for you, or at least not too bad. Gwen :)

rontravel Posted August 24, 2014 #22 Share Posted August 24, 2014 We were on Jewel out of Boston during Sandy. Stayed tied to the pier for 3 days. When the Coast Guard lifted the restriction we left the harbor and ran into some bumpy seas. As long as it's only barf bags put out it's fine. It's when they start tying things down that it becomes interesting. It adds to the excitement. Was on the 8th deck on the old Celebrity Mercury one cruise with a forward facing OV stateroom and got our windows washed for two days by the spray. Our tray with the ice bucket spent most of the time airborne. LOL!! You'll have a great time. Just go witheit.
meatball_nyc Posted August 24, 2014 #23 Share Posted August 24, 2014 The captain has the safety of his passengers, crew and ship first and foremost. We sailed out of NYC 2 days after Hurricane Arthur went by. We saw some nice waves but it was fine. Have a great cruise! Safe Sailing to everyone this week. ~Robin Every Day at Sea is a Great Day
