When was your 1st cruise and how much you pay for it?

Nordic Prince in October, 1973. It cost us $500 for the two of us, including roundtrip air from SFO-Miami the day before. It also included an overnight hotel, too. Tips were extra. 7 nights Eastern Caribbean.

We got upgraded on our first cruise to an ocean view. No balconies back then.

We too were on the Nordic Prince Oct 1973 !!! But ours was a 14 night cruise from Miami that went all the way down to Caracas as well as all the Carribean islands - cost us 325 UK pounds each including return air from the UK - inside cabin Deck 3 - remember it well !!

First cruise was in December 2001 on the Rhapsody of the Seas to Key West. Don't remember the cost, but I saved all year to pay it. We both worked for the Army. I had booked this cruise a year earlier. I worked security and was advised not to travel. I did and am glad I wasn't scared off. We both were under so much stress we slept the first 2 days of a 7 day cruise. We were hooked maybe because we needed to relax so much. We sailed again on the RoS for our 50th Anniversary. This time we didn't lose 2 days. ;)

Our first cruise was the Carnival Valor in 2006 when she was brand new. Paid about $900 each for an interior cabin (it was Easter week & we didn't know any better). Have never paid anything close to that ever since. First RCCL cruise is in 12 days on FOTS and paid $359 each for a promenade stateroom.

First cruise was for our honeymoon.. set sail on 9/3/1983 aboard the Homelines MV Atlantic, cabin C35 (inside with 2 separate twin beds....how romantic!) Here's a copy of our cruise ticket (total fare for 2 = $1910 + taxes = $66) & the ships brochure. I saved everything! I have all of the menus & daily news letters, etc.. still love looking at them. It was the start of our love for Bermuda. Took us 27 years to get back there & now we go back every year... heading back next month on Explorer's last round trip from Bayonne.

I had saved all of the menus for the Oceanic, but over time they were discarded. If you have the menus any way that you can post so that I can reminisce.

I think ours was the end of October. I was in sticker shock writing those numbers

I can't imagine $250 each including air and a hotel now!!!

We loved it so much that we booked the Sun Viking six months later when we had more vacation time in 1974. The SV was for 2 weeks Southern Caribbean.

February 1976, Chandris Britanis, 7 day cruise, round trip from Aruba, inside cabin, $350. The fare included round trip air on KLM from New York City to Aruba.

I loved that ship!! I was on her a few times. I took my parents on her for a cruise. Great food too. I sail Chandris from NYC and Fl.

I'd be happy to! I have company today but during the week I'll scan them in & post if no one here minds. The whole dining experience was so elegant back then...

Our first cruise was on Royal Caribbean's Viking Serenade in September 1999. We had such a good time we booked the Mexican Riviera on the Rhapsody of the Seas 3 months later in December 1999. The fare for an outside room on the Viking was about $950 and our bar and casino bill was $1,800!

Hooked on Cruising!!

Southern Caribbean sailing on the Song of Norway in 1991 in an inside cabin that was so small and dark that I ended up with a broken toe trying to navigate the room in the dark. :-) We booked kind of last minute so the cruise with airfare was around $1500. We were required to dress up every night for dinner, and wine & champagne were included with dinner. The ship did not have any stabilizers so it was a bit rocky, but fun and we knew we were really at sea. The whole trip was magical and addicting.

Do you remember that the steward placed your night gown/pj's on the bed for you each night?

Ahh...the Carnival Legend out of NY Cruise to Nowhere. My dear SIL (experienced cruiser came along to teach me the ropes) and I shared a small suite - I think the price was about $700 per person for two nights. I loved it and have not stopped cruising since then.

I will always have a special place in my heart for that ship. :)
