Casino Program Changes

Recommended Posts

I have never received a cruise certificate, but I do receive email offers. Several were for casino rates on specific sailings, but twice I was offered a free cruise (4-5 nights) from a list of sailings. Do you think there are stickers involved, or should I just be grateful for the cruise (I am!) and not expect anything else? On the first free offer, the sticker was mentioned, but not on the next one.

I don't have an answer to this, and it's certainly possible that each casino host may interpret what rules may exist differently. I'd suggest that you should call Club Royale and ask them what you should be able to expect when onboard.

How are the 'points' calculated? I'm going on my first cruise later this year and plan on playing roulette.

I don't know the magic calculation for table games. Others may have a better idea about that. For slot games, each point is $5 wagered through a slot machine and $10 through a video poker machine.

For table: How many hours you play (min to qualify supposed to be 3h per day) + Average bet (min $25 per bet to be qualify)+ how much you are putting in the game .... They monitoring your play very well ....they check you out even if you go to the bathroom for 5 mins :)

I did get a certificate for a free balcony cabin. I should be able to use this certificate pretty much as specified in its terms and conditions for a change. The certificate must be used (cruise booked) within 30 days and the sailing must be within one year. The certificate is dated March 11, 2017. We're sailing on Oasis of the Seas on March 11, 2018! Woohoo!

Just got off a sailing on NOTS a week or so ago, my Mom and I both earned the 2,400 point certs. A quick note on the time frame you mentioned, the certificate only has to be used within 30 days if you're going to use the free cruise option and want to book on one of the selected sailings. If you trade the certificate in for the $$ off then you have up to a year from the issue date to book your sailing.

Thank you for all info above :) We will be on Brilliance in 49 days :) and never know that my DH also can get sticker ... Are you sure 100% on it?

Alla - if they don't give Boris his own sticker then you can get a drink for him! Have fun - and win big on your cruise! In May we are cruising in the Med on the Jewel out of Rome.

That's not what I was told on Anthem. I have received certificates on 6 of my sailings. I was told by the host that a cruise had to be booked within 30 days, and the cruise had to be within one year. I was also told the same when I called CR.

Either they are somewhat lenient on the "1 year" rule or the CR agents just haven't all gotten the rules straight yet b/c I was able to apply the "cash" value of a recently earned certificate (earned in Feb of this year on Harmony) to a Nov 2018 Symphony cruise. I was promised that when the casino rates are published for that Thanksgiving Symphony sailing, I would be allowed to transfer the value of the certificate over to the new booking - which would be repriced to the casino rate.

Was that what your certificate says, or what you were told?

Here's the back of the certificate I received:

Free-Cruise-Certificate-2017.jpg

On the right hand side, it lists two conditions:

  • RESERVE BY DATE: Offer must be booked within 30 days of the issue date/
  • SAIL BY DATE: Cruise certificate to be redeemed on a valid sailing below or can be traded in for any cruise of your choice with the value of $1,000 to sail within 1 year of issue date.

It appears that both of these are required, so even if you choose the $1,000 value, you still have to book it within 30 days.

That's great!

I do wish, however, that Club Royale would decide what their rules are going to be and follow them so we could have a reasonable expectation out of all this.

Hello all,

I am going on the Oasis in 2 weeks and was hoping someone here could tell me who the Casino Host is. Also, are they on promenade the first day to check in with them, or just ask for the host when I hit in the casino?

Thank you!

No idea who the host is, but just curious, why do you want to ask for the host?

I also got the cruise certificate when i salied in January 2017 which i could not use for any of those sailings listed but called Club Royale within about 3 weeks and inquired about a cruise in February 2018 and they applied the cash value of $500 (i only had a free inside cabin offer) to my cruise and i am taking a 9 day solo in an inside out of Baltimore for $432.00 which i think is amazing!

That was how the total got down to $432.

Interesting..

I just booked 2 cruises, one which was on the back of the sheet: "Allure in Sept for 7 nights out of Lauderdale". I combined cruise certificates (I had a free balcony and my wife had a free inside) for a free Jr. Suite.

At the same time, I booked a 7 night Junior Suite on the Harmony in Oct for 7 nights out of Lauderdale. This time I did not use ANY certificates or the value, but used a "Casino Rate", Which cost me $2700 and change for the 7 night Jr. Suite.

Even though Royal was advertising on board credit on the website I was unable to get any applied to either of my cruises.

Does this sound right? Maybe they applied the onboard credit and the 30% offer because you didn't apply for the casino rate? I'm very curious about this and would appreciate any feedback!

Cheers!

no- actually i said it wrong- i got the BOGO60 which ended up being 384 and then the casino discount

(it says YHPcasino slots) and then the $500 and at the bottom of the booking it says OBC $75. I think it all depends on who you talk to- i always get a different price and a different answer depending on who i get when i call.

i think the difference is that i was not able to use my cruise certificate so INSTEAD of that- they gave me the $500 discount off my rate. You already used both cruise certificates so you had nothing left BUT the casino rate.

My bet is that they DID use your certificate, just the VAL?UE of it and not for a "free cruise". UI still don't see how they would not be able to apply OBC for one customer and not the other, hmmmm!

My husband and I just returned from a cruise. We both received $200 off our next cruise. Certificate stated to contact either the casino department or our TA. Our TA called casino dept.and booked our next cruise. We were able to combine both certificates and received $400 off. No mention of free drinks or onboard credit. Just wondering if anyone has recently had any luck with these perks.

I can chime in regarding the "free drinks". I heard they used to give out drink coupons, this is no longer the case. If you have the VIP sticker on your seapass, they will give you complimentary drinks while you are in the casino (via the server or the bar). We did have several bottles of wine delivered to our room during our cruise, with compliments of "Casino" tag on them, but I don't think that is the norm!

Just to clarify -i only received OBC because of the advertised special on the RCCL website along with the BOGO60 discount. This was not something special to the Club Royale. The only "extra" that Club Royale gave me was the $500 off the cost of my cruise as the casino slot credit.

My husband just used a free cruise certificate from the casino. He booked it over the phone through the casino group/department. Because of this, they had him flagged. As soon as he walked into the casino the host approached, addressed him by name and gave him the VIP sticker. He asked if he as all set for our Anthem cruise in 2 weeks. They said you need to call the casino department (where he booked the free cruise) and give them our booking number. He would then be "on the list" at the casino and would get the sticker, etc. Casino host said if you wait until you're onboard, they have to call the central office and confirm. This is not a speedy process she said. So it's better to link the reservation prior to.

Just our experience!

Marc (and anyone else), my wife and I are going on a comped balcony cruise on Allure in May from an offer she received in the mail.

Marc, from your previous post you stated

  • "When booking a cruise with a free cruise certificate (or related dollars-off), not only does the Club Royale member get a sticker, but so does the other person(s?) in the cabin."
  • My wife will get the free drink sticker but I'm wondering if I will get it too. I was told by CR when I booked that I wouldn't get it but I've been told that in the past and once I've gotten on the ship, I've gotten it.
  • Anyone have any thoughts about whether I will get the free drinks sticker?

Anyone know what makes one qualify for the casino rate? I only heard about that via here so I called up and qualified for one. We booked it but not sure if I had enough points for drinks or not. I sent the casino host an email and got the same thing that was listed here about points. I'm guessing that if it had to be 1500 points on the last cruise I won't but could of been close to 1000 points.

I guess I'll find out when I board.
