cassamanda Posted November 8, 2014 #26 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Sounds like a great idea. Would be great if you could include Asian port reviews and news to! :D Then you would have to call it an Australasian Cruise Critic board.
cassamanda Posted November 8, 2014 #27 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Then you would have to call it an Australasian Cruise Critic board. The more i think of this the better i like it as Cruise Critic Australia infers that only Australian topics are covered. Seeing that NZ is a separate country then the correct name should have been Cruise Critic Australia & New Zealand. If you then include topics from Asia i would go with Cruise Critic Australasia. Fair comment? Hugh

Fair comment? Hugh I agree Hugh! Those in the North & West of Australia definitely see themselves as part of Australiasia as they travel to Asian countries regularly both for business and pleasure. Fair comment? Hugh If they do include Asia in the new forum, then Cruise Critic Australasia, works for me! If they had only mentioned Australia & New Zealand in the OP, I wouldn't have suggested/asked for it. But as they mentioned the South Pacific, I figured why not? as there are many cruising to Asia now. The worst that can happen is that they say no :( If you are cruising soon, may you have a wonderful cruise :D
Kiwi_cruiser Posted November 8, 2014 #31 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Whooooooo :D, Welcome to the forum Louise :D I agree we do need a joint mascot :) Its great to see that Cruise Critic has recognise the Australia & New Zealand cruising market! I should be able to help with the news from this side of the ditch!
GUT2407 Posted November 8, 2014 #32 Share Posted November 8, 2014 Ha ha, serves me right for travelling and bringing back the locals! Love my extended Kiwi's, we just dont' talk at rugby or footy time! CruiseCriticAUeditor Posted November 10, 2014 Author #34 Share Posted November 10, 2014 Thanks for all your support and suggestions. I'm in the USA office this week (for training) so I will bring up your ideas in our meetings. - CC Australasia: good point. We are adding Asian port reviews, so I'll see what they think. - Roll Calls for Eden & Aria: of course! Will ask Laura to add these, now that bookings are open. - Kiwi mascot: kiwis can't fly but they can cruise :) - more promotion: we are waiting until the new site is ready to be accessed by the public - which is very soon. Lots of holes to fill, which is why your feedback/beta testing has been so useful. I'll have further updates this week... - Louise

CruiseCriticAUeditor Posted November 27, 2014 Author #36 Share Posted November 27, 2014 G'day everyone Just an update on local progress... The Community team has set up the Roll Calls for P&O's "new" Pacific Aria and Pacific Eden. So if you've booked a cruise on these ships next year, head over to: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=990 - Pacific Aria http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=991 - Pacific Eden No to CC Australasia... you'll have to read between the lines for now, but until I have more to announce (don't hold your breath just yet), AU and NZ will live as a happy antipodean family on http://www.cruisecritic.com.au - which is getting much closer to launching, so please be patient! Meanwhile, you can see some local news has started appearing on the main CC news site: http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=6090 The Facebook site has also doubled its number of "likes" and we're always looking for photos to share, so send away! https://www.facebook.com/CruiseCriticAU Thanks everyone! CruiseCriticAUeditor Posted November 28, 2014 Author #40 Share Posted November 28, 2014 (edited) Hi John I understand not everyone is on Facebook. That's why I posted my update here (not Facebook) :o For announcements relating to the new AU site launch, I'll always be sure to post here. For cruise-related news, it will all be posted on http://www.cruisecritic.com.au (when it's up). The_Big_M Posted November 28, 2014 #43 Share Posted November 28, 2014 I don't think it was allowed - I actually thought that was a typo, and it was meant to be "Now to CC Australasia..." The sentence seemed to make more sense that way.

The_Big_M Posted November 29, 2014 #47 Share Posted November 29, 2014 Oh well, there you go. But given it currently just redirects, all they'd have to buy is a .nz domain and do the same thing.
