Ramjet1997 Posted December 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2014 Recently on the Freedom of the Seas, we noticed several elevators passing us by, and there was a notation on the elevator floor reading above the doors that said something like "Priority" as it quickly passed us by - we have never noticed this before and is very disturbing to the waiting riders. Has anyone experienced this before? Is this really happening or is it a fluke? I read on the Facebook Royal Group that this was possibly being used by high level suite and Pinnacle guests - and that Royal implemented this but are now backpedaling on it - any truth to this? Hope this is not reality - this could turn into another Disney World with their "Fast Pass" fiasco for rich people willing to pay more that the normal cost of the park to gain faster admission to the attractions.... One elevator to that space at the top of the ship and 30 people to clear out. Your "Fastpass fiasco" analogy is a bit flawed as that service is free and does not require spending money on anything. There were 3 of them going at the same time and it was explained to us that it was because it was close to all onboard time on a port day and was an effort to move people quickly. Also, if the elevator is at its weight limit, it may be programmed to bypass floors not requested by someone on the elevator. The Concierge has the ability to take control of an elevator when taking Suite, Pinnacle and D+ guests from the lounge to the deck where they are disembarking at cruise end or at Labadee. dcedar Posted December 22, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2014 I think the elevators are just wacky at times. On the Indy I noticed elevators passing our floor with only a few people in them. Once we pressed the down button but decided to get on the one going up since it was only one floor. Why wait for it to come back down again? We got on the elevator and went up the one floor. On the way back down it totally skipped the floor we started on so we just waved at the others that were with us waiting for the down elevator. Umm no one can pay for Fast Pass access, it is included in the ticket price. when you can book your three selections per day just depends whether you stay on site or off. as for Priority: have seen it many times, usually used by STAFF who need to set something up( such as using the VCL for an Art auction). I also got to use priority access on disembarkation day as a suite guest who was escorted directly to the pier and customs and bypassing the normal crush of people trying to get off. I think they have those elevators focused on moving returning passengers from Deck 2 to the other decks. They don't respond to the call buttons on the floors. The guide can take them directly in all the FastPass lines (but usually not to the front of that that I saw). The WDW website has details about some of the packages, I saw someone on my last trip who had a guide with him and his kid. If you want to schedule Disney FastPass+ in advance you must stay in a Disney resort. Everyone else schedules theirs inside the park the day they arrive, and getting preferred times for in demand rides is tough if the crowd levels are high. Guests in these suites can go to the Concierge lounge and then they are escorted down on the elevator non-stop as Priority. Part of the benefits of opting up for a grand suite. Does it work 100% no. But a whopping 90% even when they are people in every floor requesting an elevator. It won't work in allure or oasis, how does he do it ? Now that we have the original FP question worked out, please know that Universal's isn't to be considered "front of the line". Unless you are very lucky there will always be someone in front of you; multiple people can't have "front" of the line access. It's Express Pass. It's fast, it's lovely, I won't stay anywhere but a deluxe resort when at UO (because unlimited Express Pass is included with deluxe resort stays), but it's not FOTL. If you want to schedule Disney FastPass+ in advance you must stay in a Disney resort. Everyone else schedules theirs inside the park the day they arrive, and getting preferred times for in demand rides is tough if the crowd levels are high. Onsite people can now reserve 60 days out. Offsite people can reserve 30 days out. And EVERYONE can change their reservations, depending on availability, while in the parks, either on a phone app, browser, or at a kiosk. You can pay for a fast pass @ Universal not Disney. BTW, those have different prices depending on the time of the year and worth every cent if you are not staying in one of their hotels. To the OP, we were also taken non-stop to our suite from Michael's club on embarkation day in Celebrity. Celebrity's cruise guests are escorted to Michael's club from the pier to wait there until their suites are ready. It is a really nice way to start your cruise. What's been widely rumored across the board as a plot by the Royal Caribbean Illuminati was actually an error with the RFID room keys and WOW bands in Quantum. The frequencies used were too close to those used by the emergency response teams to "commander" the elevators (think of the firemen service key slots common in elevators, but now electronic). This has been discussed at recent captains corners aboard Quantum and I believe it's been corrected. I had not heard of it and other ships, but it may be a similar issue or, as others have said, either a mass movement of people from a special event or an emergency response in progress. We were staying in an Owners Suite and this was one of the amenities for staying in any suite. The two times it was used for us was leaving the ship to tender over to Cocoa Cay and disembarkment day, 7 December. When we were getting ready to leave the ship for Cocoa Cay and board the priority tender, our concierge actually told us to expect some not so nice comments from other passengers and we passed them in the tender line.
