Shorts! A scary thing.

Recommended Posts

Where can a lady find a geat pair of shorts- not too long and not daisy dukes. Finding a nice flattering pair seems impossible.

Any ideas? Please share:

Golf stores are where I find shorts that meet that criteria. :)

You could always get a too long pair and roll the cuff or have a tailor hem them to exactly the length you want.

Lands End carries shorts of different lengths - 7" or 10", bermudas that look to be maybe 11"? (they look longer than the 10" ones on the website). So what is the "right" length for you depends on your inseam. I've also been able to find varying lengths at Kohls, but they probably aren't in the stores right now (they do have some choices online).

You are right...the selection of short styles has been AWFUL in the past few years...but there are some "regular" shorts out there....just takes some looking!!! I like a 5" inseam.

I'm not quite 5' tall, and I've hemmed shorts. Why? Exactly the OP's reasoning: I want a nice mid-length short. I don't want to look like I'm trying to be 16 years old, nor do I want to look as if I've borrowed my 100-year old grandmother's shorts! At my height, I'm quite accustomed to hemming things.

I hear you. Got a pair of navy khaki shorts at KMart that hit at exactly the right place. Regular waist with a zipper.

Never know where you'll find something.

I have a singer that tends to do the trick. My grandmother taught me the basics when I was growing up, and though I never follow the rules when it comes to sewing, the items I hem seem to turn out the way I want them to.

Hi:)...Beall's normally has a good selection.....Coral Bay is one of the

store brands....I like them. I also have a couple of pairs from QVC's

Denim & Co line which I really like.:).....hmmm....I love Chico's jeans

so maybe I will have to check out their shorts too.

Just like other clothing, everyone has their own preferences so what

works for one of us may not be good for someone else........hope you

find what you are looking for:)

OOPS....I totally forgot.....I have 3 pairs of shorts from Dillard's...they

have a house brand called Kim Rogers. They are like a cargo short...I prefer

a longer inseam and these are perfect (for me).....they are button fly front

with elastic around the back. I should have mentioned them first........
