Canadian cruisers!!

Recommended Posts

Fill me in please.... I am also a Canadian cruiser.... I don't want to read all 967 post to find out the final answer but I feel like someone had already answer my question... So with the OBC I had the same confusion... I paid via travel agency for my October cruise.... Bought all online dining excursion in CAD as well... Bought a 25 dollar OBC but also charge my credit card for 25 dollars CAD..... Does that mean I will get $25 on board credit in USD? I was assuming that they would charge me at $30ish dollar for the $25usd..... Can someone please clarify?... Of this is the case... Or when will the funds be exchanged to USD??? Please help.... Been calling NCL AND MY TA they both said I will get 25 in USD which I believe it's too good to be true..... Help!!!!

Did you make a typo and mean RCL.

If your credit card was charged $25 CDN then you would only have an OBC of about $22.50 US. It's not a straight exchange.

Have you actually seen your CC statement. Maybe you purchased $25 US and will be charged $27.50 CDN

Can anyone tell me what happens to your money if you have a large credit left over at the end of the cruise? We are interested in buying a watch on the ship for $2800-$3200. We would like to purchase $3000 U.S. For the 10% exchange. If they do not have the watch we are looking for, can we receive the credit in cash on the last sea day?

Yes, you can get cash in USD on the last evening of the cruise.

Thank you for the advice, do you have to pay 5% at the casino to withdraw cash? Sorry, we never go to the casino. Just curious how to withdraw money there

my understanding is you set your account up as a "cash account" and then you can withdraw at the Casino for no additional charges.

If your onboard account is secured with a credit card, they will charge the 5%. If your onboard account is a cash account, there is no service charge.

I understand the casino is not always open, if we want to get cash to spend in port would there be another way to do it

You would have to remember to get it in the casino the night before.

On line as you complete your set sail pass. You can also do this at the pier at check in.

Can you start as a cash account and add you credit card towards the last day or two? I want to avoid waiting in the line on the last day to get any remaining cash at the guest services, and I like the idea of getting cash at the casino without fees during the cruise. The idea of having the credit card added on the second to last day would be to cover any final charges such as a meal or drink on the final day or two. Therefore I wouldn't have to visit GS to pay for the $40 in charges.

Is this possible?

Yes, you can visit Guest Services and change to a credit card.
