FRMPEI Posted April 8, 2015 Author #251 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Where is the spot to get the double exposure? This particular spot is on deck 4 Forward Entertainment court right near the entrance to Celebrity Central. You do know it is not a double exposure? You just get your subjects to move quickly (behind you) when the pan leaves them and they relocate to the other side when pan is finishing up. My sister says, "let me try." and she run in front of the camera and just creates a blur. No Michele! Go behind me. The iPhone does this even better than my Sony cameras... better light. FRMPEI Posted April 8, 2015 Author #252 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Day 2 - Sea Day #1 - Qsine The Silhouette was the second "S" class ship to receive Qsine rather than the Silk Harvest asian theme specialty. Donna and I first tried Qsine back in 2013 during the first week of our B2B with Ken and Norma Jean and then again by ourselves during our second week. This cruise would make it our third time but this time with six. The common thing you hear about Qsine is... "it is much better with a group". Yes! That might be true but Donna and I enjoyed it just as much as two as we did as four or six. So you folks that are just two do not be afraid to try it just as two. Now if you have not already figured out even though we live on island and are surrounded by water we really don't like fish, lobster, or shellfish. Crazy? I know. We like our meat and potatoes. That is why you will not see any fish food porn in my pictures. One exception to the fish rule... I like Fish and Chips as long as I don't know what kind of fish it is. Really! For those that don't already know Qsine is not your conventional dining or conventional decor restaurant. Not your normal starters, salads, soups, mains, and dessert. Your order your drinks and food items from an iPad. I am thinking with their original idea with iPad they were going to do such more with them. But really they are just a fancy cool menu that the waiter just hand write your orders from. iPad Menu Funky - Table Lights Hanging from Ceiling Kevin orders a special alcohol drink from the iPad. Boy! it was strong. Only took a few sips. Adam ordered a different drink and commented that it was good but very strong. Mr Fancy Sipper A close up of that drink sorry I don't remember what it was called. From this picture looks like Nolan and I ordered the same drink? Adam's drink I should really stick to what I know best? Regards, Kevin Reid
FRMPEI Posted April 8, 2015 Author #253 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Day 2 - Sea Day #1 - Qsine Back in 2013 we started our evening off with the "Spring Rolls". We liked them so we started with them tonight. There is a vegetable one and a pork one. I was surprised Nolan liked the pork one and he especially liked the sauce that came with them. Pretty cool service tray? Would you agree? Louis wanted to try the "Popcorn fish and chips" and asked for a small order but, they took out way to much. I didn't try them even though it did fit into my "fish and chip rule". This next dish " Slider Party" of beef sliders where actually quite good and comes with all the fixins. This next dish is probably my favourite "Persian Kebob" chicken and rice. Next up was the "Taco Royale" . Poor Donna messed up here when she was doing her's up. She though those green thing in the little bowl were just normal green peppers. Wrong! They were... you guessed it ... Hot Peppers. LOL! FRMPEI Posted April 8, 2015 Author #254 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Day 2 - Sea Day #1 - Qsine - Gosh! We Are Not done Yet! You didn't think we were finished yet did you? I might have made a mistake in my previous post because "Painters Mignon" might also be my favourite dish at Qsine. I get it... The serving dish looks like a painters pallet. With the sides as the colours. Neat! Louis felt he need some "Crunchy Munchies" assorted fries etc. Presented in another cool serving display. Then Kevin's eyes were bigger then his belly and insisted on ordering "Chinese Martini Chitinis". Mistake I barely touched it... had to leave room for dessert. The dessert menu is presented as a rubric's cube of sort. I remember back in 2013 Donna got the decorate your own cup cakes and didn't really like them felt they were to dry. This time around I believe we all ordered the Silver Bullet. Regards, Kevin Reid
FRMPEI Posted April 8, 2015 Author #255 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Day 2 - Sea Day #1 - Qsine So when Gelato is on the Dessert menu.. I am there. The Silver Bullet is served in dish shaped like a... bullet ... Right. A couple of gelato flavours are served along with a few berries and "pop rock" candy is also sprinkled on it. You know that sugar candy as a kid that would explode pop crackle in your mouth? Then to finish off the evening chocolate covered strawberries on a stick. Not sure what the fancy Qsine name that is used. Very nice when you hand over your Sea Pass and bill comes back with zeroes on it. Well that is number 2 of 5 specialties down. Hope you enjoyed this detailed photos adventure of Qsine? Regards, Kevin Reid
scd_cosprgs Posted April 8, 2015 #256 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Great Pics of Qsine!! I hadn't seen the slider tray or Taco's when I ate there last time. They look very good. Might have to give them a try next week!! Thanks again for the great review and pictures.
mnsawyer Posted April 8, 2015 #257 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Incredible review! Amazing photos from PEI - we live in Central Maine so assuredly feel your pain with regard to the snow and cold this winter. Hopefully, you have seen some melting and understand that the weather should start to change over the weekend. We actually had a couple inches of snow yesterday morning. Cannot believe that you could travel direct to Miami on your flight! Wow and totally understand the cost of airfare - it is high from the Northeast especially on the weekends. We are ready to try a different cruise line and thinking about Celebrity. So enjoying all of your photos, your family and sense of humor! Keep posting! butterflymama Posted April 8, 2015 #258 Share Posted April 8, 2015 fantastic review! Love the Qsine info. I've been looking forward to trying it since I saw it on Top Chef a long time ago. We'll be going one night during our May cruise. The portions looked large for tapas....more than 1 slider per person? 6 pieces of filet for a table of 4? I wonder if you can ask to have that scaled back. I want to have room to try lots of dishes!

FRMPEI Posted April 8, 2015 Author #263 Share Posted April 8, 2015 Day 2 - Sea Day #1 - Time Change I think everybody in our group enjoyed the Qsine experience. It was well past 9 PM by time we finished so now show in the theatre for us tonight. But before before Donna and I headed off to deck 10 for bed I took a few more random pictures. Nolan still must be hungry because he tries to pick an apple. This is one of the two pictures we bought even though I had my mind made up not to buy any. A very quiet Main foyer... Taken from Deck 5. Tonight's Treasures Laid Out Time Change / Daylight Savings Time Normally when we cruise the Daylight Savings Time change had already taken place. I figured it would be a real bummer that the time would change the night before we get back into Port Everglades. But I was real happy the way this cruise handled the time change. Tonight Monday March 2 the ship's clocks went a head by one hour which would sync up with Atlantic Standard Time. Which also happens to be our home time zone. For the Trip back to Port Everglades they did not have to adjust the clock again for Daylight Savings Time. So no loss of that extra hour on your last night of the cruise. Donna complied with my Celebrity Today rules and was very gentle when she browsed thru the dailies. Regards, Kevin Reid

FRMPEI Posted April 9, 2015 Author #273 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Day 3 - San Juan + Sea Day 1.5 With the clocks going ahead one hour sunrise today is 6:42 AM and I set my alarm accordingly. Very windy this morning up on Deck 15 to capture the sunrise. Clouds again not quite cooperating with the best sunrise picture ops. The same lady from day 2 is already there before me sitting alone reading near the Art Studio. Lawn Club before Sunrise Sunrise peaking through Clouds This was about the best sunrise I was going to capture this morning. A little disappointed with the results this morning. I didn't stay too long up on deck 15 with it being so windy. So I popped down to guest services to get my "extra" room key redone because it stopped working. You can see that it is 7:10 AM on the Pool Bar clock... Picture taken from elevator lobby. So back to the room and sat on the balcony to watch the sea gulls dive for flying fish. As soon as Donna was up I volunteered to get some Hot Chocolates. This time I went up to Oceanview rather than Deck 5 and the Hot Chocolates were not very hot. Of Course I picked up a couple of those Chocolate croissants. With the time change not many other passengers yet on the move. Michele and Louis opted for room service delivery while Donna, I, and boys went down to the MDR for breakfast. On the way down to the MDR for breakfast Nolan paused to feed the birds. FRMPEI Posted April 9, 2015 Author #274 Share Posted April 9, 2015 Day 3 - San Juan + Sea Day 1.5 Grand Cuvee Light Fixture We pretty well ordered the same things for breakfast. I don't like egg yolks so I just order egg whites and some people just look at me with a puzzled look in their face. So in the last year or so I have learned to say, "Egg white only omelette please". A couple of years ago while in Montreal to catch a Canadiens game I asked for Egg white only and they wanted to charge an extra $1... so I ordered eggs fried hard yolk not broken. A perfect egg white omelette and bacon. Nolan's breakfast After breakfast Donna went on her own to worship the sun god up on deck 14 while boys and I would wander around before trivia at 10:00 AM back in Ensemble Lounge Deck5. I know what the boys got going on here. They did this back in 2012 while aboard Solstice. Donna and Norma Jean have also stolen this idea from the boys. What time is it Adam? "Why! it is 9:10 Dad."
