LIVE from Quantum of the Seas, sailing April 12th!

Recommended Posts

Chris, I loved your review. Our experience was similar, the waits in the restaurants were so very long. NEVER were we asked if we would like ice tea, soda etc while at any of the free restaurants. We had a very poor experience in the Grande, woefully understaffed for the amount of people they were serving, waited 45 minutes between courses only to be served undercooked chicken.

We did love the ship itself and have booked the Anthem, hope they have it together by then.

Wow! Thank you for your excellent review. Sounds like improvement is still needed on the Quantum, after six months. We sailed on the TA and I was not impressed with the iPads at check-in or at Guest Services. How could Royal Caribbean get so many things wrong on this ship?

Hopefully, someone in upper management reads your comments.

Looking forward to meeting you on the HOTS.

Saving Money!! Less staff.

Didn't Q start out with no Head Waiters or Asst Waiters? They were pulling them from Indy when we were on.

Thank you from Down Under for this great review! Up until just recently the Quantum class ships have not interested me but now that we have been advised that Ovation will be visiting Australia from December 2016 I've been looking for reviews of Quantum. What a great job you've done! Very much appreciated!

hmmm now there's a thought. :) Knowing Chris as I do that photo of him was a photo of love. I can imagine his thoughts at the time.

Now I was on two early Nov sailings of Quantum and was disappointed in the ship. It has improved vastly and it really seems to be coming into its own now. I think the testament to that was at the Captain's Corner were there were NO negative comments or questions at all. The mood there was upbeat unlike the inaugural Captain's Corner.

I feel the ship is leaving us all too soon and has just started to be accepted as a wonderful cruise option in the northeast area. We will have to start a new love affair soon for Anthem. :)

Will miss you Quantum. More time with us would have been great to see you grow as a cruise option here in Bayonne.

Emmy - are you going to try anthem? I think they will make the anthem even better and learn from quantum mistakes

I commented earlier about your great review and pictures but one comment above really stands out. You said "it had indeed improved greatly and I wish it was staying here". For those of us who were on an earlier cruise, there was much room for improvement. It had to get better.

I can't help but think Royal Caribbean used us as Guinea Pigs, in preparation for sending the ship to the Asian market. Otherwise, why didn't they send it directly to Asia? Perhaps the Chinese are not as tolerant? :)

Thank you for not sugar coating your review. I thought the Quantum was a beautiful ship but I do prefer the Oasis Class. Not as many gimmicks.

The ship had to sail from somewhere first, why not the US? The UK is getting Anthem first - we are on it in July - then it is headed for the US, but I certainly don't think of the UK as being used as guinea pigs. Ovation is home-porting in Australia. I'm sure there would have been a bit of an outcry if the US didn't get one of them for their inaugural season. ;)

We were on the March 29th sailing and we too were disappointed with the service. It is a beautiful ship with great food, shows, activities, internet and a drivable option for us but the numbers of new trainees on our sailing were much higher than normal. As a result, service was lacking. They could speak English but their comprehension of the language was not there. We also had to deal with a messed up first day and constant cleaning because they had noro virus on the cruise before us. I think the service on the Anthem is going to be a better because after a short stay in the UK, it will stay in the US.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. After reading your negatives, I am a little concerned about service and running out of certain food items. One would think that the person ordering the food would be experienced, and order what was necessary plus a little. Last year on the Oasis TA, they ran out of eggs (fresh eggs, not powdered) in the buffet two days before our arrival in FTL. We were very surprised. As far as the options shown in the Compass, isn't that the CD's job to plan enough events?

We leave next week on the Quantum, and hope we have as much fun as you seen to have had.

Thanks again

Our CD Dru did an excellent job with activities and making the cruise fun in my opinion. I think the reason there is so little listed in the Compass is they want people to use the RoyalIQ app. If you noticed the officer's bios are no longer in the compass, they're shown on the tv channel that shows the daily schedule of activities

Bugsy. Please post a reminder or link on Celebrity thread when you do your Princess cruise. Would love to follow. If you do a live review.

Chris, another fabulous review.I loved reading and seeing all the great pictures....it helped my post-cruise depression.

I agree with some of your thoughts and share some of the same experiences with poor service at times the week before you. Although our dinners were terribly long at Chic and the breakfast at American Icon took forever. My son's pancakes would be served and DH and I would have to wait nearly 40 minutes after that to get our omelettes.

I'm sure the trainees had a great impact on the service levels but overall the ship appeared to be understaffed. If Anthem is going to have the same number of crew members (which I imagine they are) then great service will likely be missing there too. That would be such a shame to have cutbacks on such an amazing class of ships and even more so their newest.

Thank you for all your time and effort in this review.:)

Appreciate you following along. I became a Packers fan when they got Brett Favre and the rest is history ;)

Ah yes....Brett baby....loved watching him. I have two #4 jerseys...one white and one green. Lately I've been wearing #80 but it seems I'm going to have to breakdown and buy yet another jersey.

I'm going to try and get tickets for the Packers/Bears game on Thanksgiving when they retire Brett's number.

You may like my t-shirt. :D

Northstar was fun. Many times the lines were long but we went just prior to them opening the gangway in Puerto Rico and waited only 10 minutes. I had a reservation for iFly day 2 and didn't get the hang of it in the 1 minute you get. I went standby on the last sea day and got to go again as it wasn't anywhere near full and I did much better.

Wait, so did you have to pay to go a 2nd time? I've seen people say that there's a charge to go again, but then I've read reports where people have gone multiple times? Does anyone know the actual policy?

I was on the Regal last month and loved it.

Not all the bells & whistles as the Allure & I love that ship too. Great entertainment, excellent dining-try the wine makers dinner we loved it! The buffet was amazing and we enjoyed Alfredo's. Best Crown grill dinner. The casino was very good to me. It paid for my cruise on the 2nd night. We liked the big screen tv and all the movie choices. Crooners still made the best martini's and the prices of drinks have not increased. Have fun!

What are you allowed on the internet if you are a diamond member and what changes have they made. I usually log on every day and dowload my messages to read later and send messages when connected. Will it still be possible to do this on a daily basis without having to pay extra as our diamond minutes usually covered this.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

So there you have it my friends! Quantum class has a lot of things to really like about it but also a lot of things not to like about it. I can only hope that things will be improved and go much smoother on Anthem when she arrives in the states. With that, LIVE from Quantum of the Seas has concluded!

I wanted to take the time to again thank everyone that followed along and commented and the kind words everyone had for my thread. I also want to thank all my wonderful friends that chose to join me on this sailing plus all the new friends I made on this sailing and had fun with it. It really DID make my cruise that much more enjoyable.

I really enjoy doing these LIVE reviews and appreciate all that follow along so again, THANK YOU :)

Until next time.... ;)

I LIVED this cruise, but when i got home I had to read your review in full! I love it!

Great job, Chris!

Miss you, my friend...until we sail again!:):)
