Hole punch on sea pass?

I put my sea pass in a clear card holder and hang that from a lanyard. I can also carry my coffee card with it that way.

That's what I do. And it hangs from my doorknob when in cabin.

DH packs one in his carry on along with our lanyards, and we are wearing them when we get on the ship. Makes all the last minute pre-boarding security checks much easier.

I simply wear my lanyard and holder under my shirt, and pull it out at/just after check in.

One lady on our last cruise had her cruise card and her driver's licence in a clear plastic holder, but both fell out. She was ready to disembark for her shore tour and found she didn't have the cards. Panic. Luckily someone had handed them in to Security. :)

In case someone is wondering why she had her driver's licence, it was because we needed government-issued photo ID to come back into the port area.

Not wise to use it for that, or anything essential. I put it in my wallet if in a "safe" port or my passport holder (the most useful trivia prize) if not.

Not that I would want to lose my drivers license but I still consider it the least valuable item of mine to lose. Just what else do people carry on shore that would work for identifying themselves that would be easier to replace?

Of course a copy of your passport page with photo would probably work. ;)

It is worse than you think.

Anyone you tell that you lost you've license will comment on

'Another DUI?', and think that they are hysterical.

This is based on losing my license...

...at the gym.

We both had to renew our drivers licenses in the past two years. We took the old ones (our state punches a hole in them) and hang them on our lanyards with our ship cards whenever we get off the ship (then and going to the hot tub/pool are the only times I use the lanyard). We've never had an issue...no one has even noticed it's an expired drivers license. And we've swam in waves and snorkeled and the cards and lanyard stay put around our necks (I tuck mine into my top or swimsuit once I'm past security).

Passports and valid drivers licenses stay in the safe on the ship.

I never thought of taking one of my old drivers license's with me.

Great idea. :):D

BRILLIANT IDEA! Not a coffee drinker, but the idea of the clear card holder is so OBVIOUS NOW! Please where would I look for a clear card holder? I'm in Australia, not personally confident with ordering online but have a friend who would help me do it if I gather the information for her (and of course we'll go to lunch on me!)

I have also gotten my cruise card punched in the Calypso Cove shop onboard. The cashier's desk has a hole punch.

OOOOOH! THANK YOU! Killing 2 birds with 1 stone, checking out the prices of souvenirs to buy, and getting the cruise card punched! Cruise Critic members have a real talent for knowing just what will streamline matters-I already use a lanyard for my unit key, so it won't be a big adjustment to wear the cruise card on the lanyard as well.

There are round holes and rectangular rounded holes (preferred). Depends who has what (Casino, Customer Service)...The Casino will give you a free lanyard.

Thanks for that information. A friend said she'd buy some On Board Credit for the Casino for me, she knows I like a budgeted flutter, and trying the Casino, is on my list of things to try-as is enjoying sampling different cocktails, mocktails and sodas; exploring the ship and taking LOTS of photographs and noting what each photo IS!, enjoying the speciality restaurant-picked Crown Grill and hopefully the Crab Shack; getting a professional photo to mark my cruising debut; choosing appropriate souvenirs for friends! I'm going to NEED a holiday to get over my holiday!:D

If you go to the casino, they will punch your card and attach it to a lanyard. That way, the gamblers can put their cruise card into the machine with their lanyard attached to them and when you leave and forget your card, it pulls you back to the machine ;-)

I don't know about Australia, but in the states they can be found in office supply stores, Wallmart and possibly Dollar stores.

It's not really a lanyard they give you but a very lightweight bungee cord. Very cheaply made.

THANK YOU!

I've a good Office Supplies store several blocks from me, so shall take myself down for a look. I have several membership cards I could use to "test" the size. 1 more useful thing organised ready for the cruise.

Most problems have been planned for, the 1 thing I can't possibly anticipate is my reaction to the movement of the ship-a tour boat on an inland river is very different to the open ocean, and a friend who's just been cruising, advised that the East Coast of Australia can certainly test your balance! She took 3 attempts to get up from a deckchair, the waves were a bit lively!

Have noted to get my Flu vaccination earlier next year to allow for any reactions-usually a sore arm and tiredness, and a prescription for anti-nausea medication that won't react with my prescribed medication. I saw my mother get caught with conflicting medications-terrifying, so taking no chances! Would rather be out exploring the ship than in the Medical Centre through doing something stupid.
