I too am having problems voting on my iPad.

I really hope they keep the Sunset Bar as it is, we are not big fans of Asian food so would not be interested in dining there. However we appreciate that many people are excited about this new addition so hope Azamara leave the sunset Bar as it is, and site the Asian Restaurant elsewhere.

Seems like an obvious solution.

And put the Asian restaurant somewhere where dinner reservations won't have to be canceled for 30-60 people because of rain or cold or strong winds or pirates or giant Amazonian insects or whatever. With the outdoor area as part of the Windows buffet, if the weather is inclement at least there's an indoor area where those wishing to enjoy the Asian, Indian, French, Italian, Greek, seafood, or whatever themed buffet can still sit without being exposed to the weather.

I have voted to leave the Sunset Bar as it is - although it will make not a blind bit of difference as Pimental and co have already made the decision and do not listen to views expressed on this board. The fact is that this board is a place for us to express views but we are only a small proportion of total customers and therefore carry no weight whatsoever.

We should, however, be grateful that Azamara host meet & mingle, which is a recognition of loyalty.

First, I am not a newbie- just had to change my log in to keep some people at bay.

Reading this thread, it seems there are a number of associated issues that need to be considered. First, is it the bar that people want retained; or is it the idea that there is a lack of enthusiasm for another specialty restaurant? I would note that several R ships don't have a space hogging bar, rather just restaurant tables for more seating.

Is it the proposed Asian menus that is the issue? Or conversely, is it ANY specialty restaurant? What is the most important elements of the existing arrangement: the bar? The open access dinner dining? Both?

I am sure everyone has an opinion. Mine is to remove the bar and thus add seating to the existing arrangements. No new specialty restaurant.

So Azamara has less outdoor aft seating than Oceania? If so, then I totally agree with you. More people ought to be able to enjoy outdoor aft dining at no additional cost, so if there's a bar taking up table room, remove it.

I say reduce the size of the bar and add a few more seats. I really enjoy my late afternoon beer or wine there, when I get back from a full days excursion.

Then when I have showed etc I love to wander back there and have a long leisurely casual dinner with the team from our private excursion.

Putting in a must pay for Asian Restaurant will destroy all of that.

Ocean Princess has no bar on the open area of the buffet, and that makes it look like a cafeteria with wall to wall tables. With no bar, they've had to add areas to bus dirty dishes, etc., so the net gain in tables is two. Not worth it, in my opinion.

I am not going to battle for this. I voted to keep the Windows Sunset Bar but can see the obvious in this case: It will not matter. I think we will be positively surprised when we see the outcome of this. We want milk and honey, but obviously can't have both. I wish Azamara good luck with the forthcoming upgrades and look forward to seeing them sometime next year.:D

The more I consider it the more I'm coming to the same conclusion. Hopefully we will find a new favourite outdoor spot in the evening if we don't want to do a la carte dining. I'm just going to take those positives of a very smartly refurbished ship and hope they don't spoil anything.

Well said you two................I was wanting to bat an anti Asian food line but then I realised we all have personal likes and dislikes and I am sure Azamara should be given a chance to change my view on that one as I doubt they will be sourcing sea slug or bullfrog any time soon :D

Wonder if the new evening restaurant where the sunset bar currently is would be more appealing if they placed Prime C or Aqualina there and the Asian one indoors swapping them over? Just a thought.

I'd be very disappointed if Azamara moved Prime C or Aqualina, as we enjoy both specialty restaurants very much. FWIW, I think there's a near zero chance of this happening.

Hi Everyone,

Like others, I'm very pleased about Kibo, but I hope that Azamara can figure out a way to make it work, in a way that makes their guests feel better about their plans for the aft of the ship.

As Phil and others have stated, no matter how this particular issue plays out, I eagerly look forward to all of the updates for Journey and Quest, and would never allow this one item to make us consider other brands. I completely respect that some are displeased, but IMO, it's not nearly an item to make me consider looking elsewhere.

Yes, I like the Sunset Bar, and have enjoyed great times there. With that said, there's so many other wonderful things about Azamara, their onboard experience, and what's ahead, for this one item to make me very upset.

I'm sure this isn't surprising, but I have faith that Larry & Azamara's Management team, will do a blockbuster job with the updates. When all is said and done - I'm confident that we'll be very pleased with their massive efforts.

In fairness though, I don't think any of us have said they shouldn't have the new restaurant, it is only where it is situated that is the issue. :)

The aft outdoor protected seating area is often the most delightful area on the ship.

We enjoy cocktails there before dinner. Sometimes, we stay, and eat our ethnic buffet dinner outdoors.

It's a great place to spend warm evenings.

I have no problem with an Asian restaurant. Just use one half of the Windows Café area for the regular buffet, and use the other half for the Asian specialty restaurant. Allow guests of either to use the outside seating area,

Azamara removed the harp we all enjoyed. Then they moved the piano from the Mosiac where it belongs to the casino - where it doesn't.

Please leave the most pleasant area on the ship alone.

Interestingly, Regent is announcing a new ship and a focus in

their announcement is a new Pan-Asian restaurant.

Another Regent parallel is that Regent turns its buffet restaurant into a no-reservation specialty restaurant (now always Italian; at one time alternating French and Italian) for dinner. Appetizers, soups and desserts are in the buffet serving area but main courses are served from the kitchen. There is no traditional evening buffet in either the indoor or the outdoor areas of the buffet, or anywhere else for that matter.

On Regent's two larger ships, Voyager and Mariner, these are the only outdoor seating areas on the stern of the ships. On Regent's Navigator, there are twenty seating places, ten smoking and ten non-smoking, outside the lounge on the deck above the buffet at the ship's stern. Open seating at the stern is becoming rare as suites proliferate across the stern of newer ships. Perhaps why so many of us hate to have the opportunity for an evening Bailey's at the Sunset Bar taken away from us.

Yes, but what is of concern is that the wonderful things are starting to be gradually whittled away

Also can't get the poll to work on my iPad.

I vote 'yes' to Kibo. I love the idea of another speciality restaurant and we will still be able to use the area for breakfast and lunch.

Agree !!

Like what? I've admittedly only been sailing on Azamara for four years, but overall I haven't noticed anything being whittled away and take the extensive updates of Journey and Quest as being a real positive step. Something that has been called for for some time.

the harp and the duet people in looking glass. taking away the real coffee bar on deck 5 and what made it great at night. .by moving the piano it changed everything. turned it into an art mess with shop tables and a puzzle. .we had shop tables but never like this. I thought about hiding in discovers bar to read but more and more it is use for lectures instead of in he spa or a corner of Looking Glass. I only sail for 4 years and i seen lots of changes.
