Wow that steak was HUGE!...........

I have not eaten in a Carnival steak house, just never made time to, we did while we were on the Allure of the Seas and it was awesome, call me old school but I do enjoy the MDR with the various entertainment that is lined up.

Once more great review, thanks for sharing!

I am really enjoying your review!!! I think we have had the "bowling alley" balcony 5 times now with our 6th coming up on our Splendor cruise.

We keep saying we are going to go to the steakhouse every cruise and never do. This time I made reservations!!! We usually eat at the early seating, this time we chose anytime dining. We figure it is just the two of us, no friends or family this time, so we will play it by ear.

Looking forward to the rest of your review I love Grand Turk!!!

Thanks for reading! The steakhouse is well worth the $35 per person IMHO. Great food and ambiance. Give it a try.

Great review as usual. Can't wait to see if you got your cabana. Thanks for sharing your cruises with us!

Thanks for reading!! The Grand Turk segment should start going up late tomorrow. Loads of pictures to upload.

I can't get over this review! It is so helpful for someone like me who has never cruised before. I'm learning so much about the Splendor, but also about cruising in general. After 2 years of being confused by the differences between the dining rooms and restaurants and the different seating times, I finally get it!

Another thing I don't quite understand is the thing about having to go up and down to get all the way across the decks. Is this a problem on the upper decks, too, or just the lower ones? For example, I'm thinking of booking a Cloud 9 spa balcony on deck 10. Would we be able to just walk down the hall from our cabin to Camp Carnival and from there to the Rotisserie? Or would we have to go down to another floor and then take an elevator back up once we cross over to the middle or aft of the ship?

Glad my reviews have been helpful to you. If you book a spa cabin on Deck10 you will be able to walk back to Camp Carnival and the Rotisserie without going up or down any decks. Once you reach Camp Carnival, you will have to walk outside on deck 10 to reach the Rotisserie

Thanks so much for your great review, we are about to leave for the Splendor~it truly added to our excitement!!! Can't wait to finish reading it when we return from our first Splendor cruise!! Bon Voyage!!

Have a GREAT cruise!!

What are these "bowling alley" cabins I'm reading about? Are they on all the boats?

They are on most of the Carnival ships except the Fantasy Class. These are usually the "L" shaped cabins next to the aft wraps. They are "L" shaped because of the crew stairs that are there, and because they are configured that way, the balcony is twice as long as a standard balcony is. Check out the deck plans and you will see them right away.

Hi,Jamman we are on Splendor next week. Can you let us know how full the parking was when you got there? We planned on getting to the pier around 10-1030 .

Thanks

There will be plenty of parking at that time. No worries! :)

Wonderful review!

We'll be on Splendor in two weeks.

I can't figure out if Splendor has an wrap-around deck like some ships. We'd love to take walks outside but would need to have a rest once in awhile.

Can you tell me which deck would be best for walking AND has chairs available too?

TIA

Decks 10 & 11 are best for strolling outside, and there are chairs out there.

I agree about the Steakhouse. Do you happen to remember what ice creams they had for dessert? I am always so stuffed and they have the most unusual flavors. Basil is my favorite to date.

Hey Jimbo!! Don't remember the ice cream flavors, but I do recall that a few were exotic. The mango sherbert intrigued me, and I wasn't disappointed. They do change their exotic flavors frequently though.

At 5pm we attended the Diamond Party…..

It was held in the Grand Piano Bar. This must be the right place…..

The Diamond Party with the Captain is my favorite Diamond perk. I like to joke that I’m collecting Captains, though Captain Candeloro Donato is a repeat, since we was the Captain on my Splendor repo cruise last October. Though the invitation had said “Tea with the Captain”, no one was drinking tea. The drinks were free flowing, and the snacks provided were great. The best part though, is just sitting and chatting with the Captain, the Senior Cruise Staff, our CD Malcolm, and fellow Diamond members for over an hour like we were old friends. Since there were only 8 Diamonds on this cruise, and not all attended, this gathering was quite small…..

It is sooo hard to not post too much on these feel good reviews.

I LOVE basil..and learned i loved it with my first basil pasta on a Costa cruise in 1992...the food was really to die for I remember and the pesto was a new thing to me....

I bet the slightly licorice taste could work in ice cream.

Jamman54......I love it when we get to the steakhouse dinner, mix and mingle, diamond appreciation, ship tour, port stop tour...arrival departure, flow of the day, fantastic time and photo parts...LOL...I just LOVE everything about your reviews...happy Wednesday you two to you and yours...

A busy auntie sarah...

I am loving your review. We sail the Splendor for the first time over Thanksgiving week. We have a Spa Balcony so I am really enjoying the spa pictures and seeing if the extra price is worth it. I believe I can find time every day for those loungers and the pool.

Today was the first blackjack tournament of the cruise, so I went to get my buy one get one (BOGO), entries from the casino cashier. I would use one entry today, and the other later on in the cruise. Patti got this shot just before my qualifying round started…..

CS0431.JPG

I wound up being the 4th highest qualifier at this point, but would it hold up?

You had asked me in a previous reply if we had met on the ship, I don't believe so but it looks like you met my hubby, he's the one at the table wearing the baseball hat backwards :)

Thanks so very much for sharing those awesome pictures of sailing out of New York. We did a HAL cruise a very years ago and all of the pictures we had taken were lost. To this day I have no idea what happened. I loved yours.

I really enjoy reading your reviews, and I really miss seeing Ryan in your pictures. He seems like such a great young man.

Another great review.

I agree, the Steakhouse is a real bargain and we also enjoy the MDR.

I too load up on the lobster and shrimp.

The Sea Day brunch is always good and we get the rancheros just like you.

Tell Ryan I want the number to the maid service used before you came home :>)

Thanks for posting, I really look forward to your reviews.

I will be on the Sunshine two weeks after you. I am sure someday we will share a blackjack table.

If you're on a lower cabin floor, you just walk forward or aft to the elevators/stairs that will take you closest to where you want to go. If you're on an upper deck, yes, you can just walk to your destination.

Decks 3 & 4 are blocked by the galley.

Thanks! As long as it is just those two decks it doesn't really seem like a big deal. I'm sure we'll check out the MDR at least a couple of nights, but other than that I doubt we'll even spend that much time that far down in the ship, when there are so many more conveniently located places to get food & drinks.

Perfect, thanks! I just didn't want to be planning this with the idea that it would be this easy and then get there to find out that I had to take 2 elevators just to grab a bite to eat or drop my daughter off.

Did you happen to go to any of the evening shows? If so how were they?

Other than the comedy shows, we did not attend any of the production shows. I do know that the Splendor still has the show band, and the shows are not Playlist Productions.

Jeff...I would love to do that Amber cove cruise on 8/1 but I have to wait to pull the trigger.

Amanda may be up at college those times.

May go with the 7/4 Sunshine cruise.. San Juan, St Tom and GT
