Rare Miaminice Posted August 2, 2015 Author #51 Share Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) Good Morning to you all! First of all, once more: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! The response we received to our review here and on our website is overwhelming! Thank you all for your kind words and for taking the time to comment! Receiving so many positive replies is beyond what we imagined and expected. It sure makes working on the next review fun... and makes us proud. However, the basic element of a good review is a nice cruise - and it sure was a great one! Thank you Celebrity. BTW: I have answered all the messages left via the comments site of our homepage. It seems that there has been a problem with our email address. If you have not yet received a reply, please let us know. Thanks again and have a great Sunday! celebrity Posted August 2, 2015 #52 Share Posted August 2, 2015 What an incredible review! I would never have guessed that English is not your primary language. A So American cruise has been on my bucket list for some time, but since I've never known anyone that has sailed that itinerary, I've been a bit apprehensive as to what to expect. Thanks to you, I'm going to start researching further. One question I do have is did you find it challenging to pack clothing for the changing temps? I would think waterproof shoes would be a must for some tours. Is a fleece jacket sufficient for the cooler temps? Looking forward to reading your other reviews when they are translated. Best wishes on your next adventures.
blrabbit Posted August 2, 2015 #53 Share Posted August 2, 2015 THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU ! We are so pleased and happy that you guys like our review! Yes, there is a lot of work involved... however, comments such as your´s make it worthwhile!!! We are especially happy because you commented on points that were important to us: our stories are meant to be entertaining AND informative... and there is no better compliment for a travel review than that it actually entices others to share the passion of travel to certain destinations. Thank you again for your kind words! As you can see on the website (http://www.travellove.one) I wrote quite a few other reviews. Up till now you can only view the photos because the text is still in German. However, we are currently working on the translation of our "Holy Land Cruise" on Silhouette. One of our best cruises ever! Give us a few weeks... The translation of Alaska will follow after that. Besides that we have three more cruises booked: - Eastern Med with Istanbul on Reflection in August 2015 - Iceland on Eclipse in May 2016 - Adriatic/Croatian Coast on Constellation September 2016 Given the positive response we received we will publish the reports in German and English simultaneously... and hope that you´ll like them. Thanks to you all Oliver & Birgit Great review and make me want to go for our next cruise (2017) :D You maybe on the same Iceland with us next May :) but I have yet see you on the roll call! We probably are... May 10. on Eclipse. I did write on the RollCall already but we are not yet listed on Orchidgrowers spreadsheet. We are traveling with my in laws and friends, so we are kind of a group ourself. BTW: Orchidgrower (Don) was on this South America cruise... it´s a small world :-) Oliver South America Review: http://www.travelandcruise.net/travellove_en/Our-Trips/South-America-01/south-america-01.html Edited August 2, 2015 by Miaminice
quilter06 Posted August 2, 2015 #55 Share Posted August 2, 2015 I sent you a rather long reply to your web site but want to also reply on this forum. I can't tell you how much your report has influenced our decision to take this trip in Jan. 3, 16. We almost cancelled and now are happily looking forward to it. Yes, please do include all your tour operators. Even though you didn't go to Iguazu do you have any info on it? Again and again....thank you so much! Thank you Celebrity! We sure had to think about what to pack after following the weather before the trip online. But thanks to all the modern outdoor clothes and light materials it was easy to pack and sufficient - Fleece jacket, outdoor pants, hiking shoes... the good old layer look :-) and we were OK. We are halfway through with the review of the Holy Land Cruise - one of our best cruises ever! Hope you will also enjoy that one... stay tuned :) South America Review: http://www.travelandcruise.net/travellove_en/Our-Trips/South-America-01/south-america-01.html

Still on the Holy Land Cruise we booked another similar cruise to the Eastern Med on Reflection with an overnight stay in Istanbul... we will sail in 3 weeks :-) But I would do Jerusalem again any time. Still on the Holy Land Cruise we booked another similar cruise to the Eastern Med on Reflection with an overnight stay in Istanbul... we will sail in 3 weeks :-) But I would do Jerusalem again any time. I agree with you about Jerusalem and even more meaningful was the fact that I was able to scatter a small amount of my mothers ashes at the Cemetary on the Mount of Olives overlooking the Dome of the Rock. Our fantastic tour guide took us right up to the entrance where I could walk down into the cemetery among the graves. Istanbul is my favorite city after Paris so I hope you are able to spend several days there. Be sure not to miss the area of Balat, the western walls and the wonderful Chora Church. There is a fantastic restaurant next door, Asitane, with authentic Ottoman cuisine, the best meal I had in Istanbul. I speak a little German from college days so was able to understand your Holy Land review for the most part. It was good practice for me to see how much I remembered from many years ago.:D Thank you again for your interesting web site. I will be following your adventures and looking forward to your review of Istanbul. Edited August 6, 2015 by ptrpanpens

Rare Miaminice Posted August 9, 2015 Author #64 Share Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) Hi @ all! Sorry, we were busy the past few days. We are in Amsterdam in the Netherlands (very nice city) where we were invited on a ships tour on the beautiful Celebrity Silhouette yesterday. Thank you Celebrity - we had a great time! Thank you Julia and thank you Plum Happy! We are glad you liked our review. As soon as we are back home tomorrow we will continue with the translation of the Holy Land review - should be finished this month. So please stay tuned... :-) Edited August 9, 2015 by Miaminice

caazcruzin Posted August 9, 2015 #66 Share Posted August 9, 2015 I cannot thank both of you enough for the wonderful review, pictures and all! I have one question re: entertainment on the ship while in Buenos Aires. When we took the Baltic Cruise, Celebrity had a fabulous Russian Folk Dance perform on board the nite we stayed overnite in St Petersburg. They also had a fun Russian buffet, etc. Some people went out to the Ballet that night but I think they missed a great evening onboard. Was there any special entertainment the first night when the ship overnites in Buenos Aires...a tango show, etc? Considering something off-ship but would be happy to stay onboard if there is something special to stay for. Thanks in advance.
Northern Aurora Posted August 9, 2015 #67 Share Posted August 9, 2015 I cannot thank both of you enough for the wonderful review, pictures and all! I have one question re: entertainment on the ship while in Buenos Aires. ..... We were also on the same cruise with Miaminice, in addition to the ones preceding and following. The tango group Pampas Devils were on both the February 15th and March 1st cruises. In addition to a great show one evening they also taught tango classes. Tangocherie Posted August 9, 2015 #68 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Oliver & Birgit, I just stumbled upon your review of your South America cruise. It is FABULOUS! My sister and brother in law are going on this cruise next January. I have sent them a link to your review so they can properly prepare. Many thanks. Looking forward to your other translated reviews. Happy cruising! Luc

Celebrity offered a Tango show on the first day. We have not seen it, so I can´t really say if it was good or not. That´s what it said in the program: "Gauchos Argentinos. Direct from Buenos Aires Argentine we bring you an evening of cultural traditional Tango and folkloric dancers." However, I´ve heard of a few people that went to Tango Shows in Buenos Aires the night before or on that night and really enjoyed it. Many different places offer them - with or without dinner. The operator we used for our BA day tour, Buenostours, recommends one place - and since we have been so incredibly pleased with their services, I have no reason not to trust their judgement. http://www.buenostours.com/buenos-aires-tango-shows Thank you again! Oliver Oliver- people are reading your reviews and I am one of them. This is one of the great cruising itineraries and is now high on our list of must-book voyages. I seldom leave the CC board to follow a link to a review as I like the responses and questions from readers but in your case I made an exception and I am glad I did. A well-written day by day report aided by some remarkable photos of some beautiful places I have yet to see. I was hooked from page 1 and just kept reading. The video of the two guitarists in the Sunday Market in Buenos Aires is something I have already played more than once: very moving performance indeed. The Infinity looked great as did all the wonderful food you showed ( I must have my food porn!) I have 2 cruises booked within the next 5 months but as they pass I will be looking to follow in your footsteps-around Cape Horn, sipping champagne! Thanks for putting so much work into this- it's a page-turner read of the highest order! Norris
