Latitudes meal and a la carte

Just looking at my latitudes pack on the Escape.

 

The latitudes meal is for either Le Bistro or La Cucina (doesn't mention Moderno) and it states:

 

"For ships offering an a la carte menu at Le Bistro or our Italian restaurant, benefit entitles guest to one appetiser, one entree and one desert of their choice. Restrictions apply"

 

Not sure what those restrictions will be.

 

It does mention the bottle of wine elsewhere, by the way.

So, no choice/option for a soup selection at all ?? Or, just curious - can one choose a soup as the starter / appetizer ?? For our next NCL cruise - we cancelled our plans for a 2nd. sailing this Fall (for variety of reasons) - looking like DW will get a salad to share between us and I'll stick with escargot (assuming it's not going to be an extra charge or restricted item) ... or one soup & one salad, plus one entree for each. Dessert is included ... that's good, what about that complimentary expresso or cappuccino - or, regular coffee :D Complimentary I hope, on that cup.

I will not be surprised when this morphs into a $$$ credit to be used at any restaurant and will not include gratuities.

 

Probably a $50 dining OBC eventually.

Probably. The casino at seas complimentary dinner for two was replaced on the Escape with a $75 food and beverage credit.

That's a shame, I always considered LeBistro fine dining.

 

I don't consider a three course meal fine dining.

 

More like "diner".

 

I'll be curious if you'll be able to swap your desert for soup or salad.

That is what I was wondering. I would normally get an app, salad and soup (depending if I liked what they had) and an entree. I wonder if the elimination of the Behind the Scenes Tours for Platinum is Escape specific and only temporary because the ship is so new. Maybe the behind the scenes areas are not up to snuff yet on the ship.

 

Wonder if the paid, more extensive Behind the Scenes tour is currently offered on the Escape. If so, then my theory goes out the window.

I think the behind the scenes tour change is Escape specific. There are loads of platinums aboard and they are still getting to grips with things.

 

I've not seen any mention of a paid version being offered

Before a la carte my husband ordered escargot for dessert and got it with no problem. I would think that would still be possible, to get an appetizer for dessert.

I am sure if you want to pay for anything additional / a la carte they will be happy to oblige. Any purchase outside of the perk have nothing to do with the perk itself.

As expected, I was charged for one of them, but I'm pleased to say I was charged for the Soup at $2.99 and not the Escargot at $5.99.

could be and that might not be such a bad thing as long as they continue to offer the bottle of wine with the credit. There would be a lot of people choosing Cagney's with a dinner credit I am sure.

 

Grego45, why would you say this sounds like a diner? All the has changed is the extra charge for more of this or that. I certainly would not consider LeBistro anything resembling a dinner. Can we say O'Sheehans, the on board diner?

Sounds like the Seinfield episode "No soup for you!!!".

 

Le Bistro may not look like a diner, but for Platinums it is providing more of a "diner" experience.

All of those items are in one section on the Escape menu, called "Appetizers, Soups and Salads". Then there is a section called "Entrées". Then "Desserts". It seems clear to me that the Platinum voucher allows you to choose one item from each of the three sections. But until we get more reports, you are free to assume the worst.

I am not assuming anything. The OP has already said he ordered both soup and the escargot appetizer and was charged for the soup. I stand by my statement that this is incredibly chintzy.

 

Interesting choice by NCL to combine appetizers soups and salads into one section of the menu ( at least at Le Bistro ) and then tell you to choose one of the above. I don't think I have ever seen this is any restaurant anywhere.

You're right. A comped meal should be a comped meal. A 3 course meal is a bit stingy. I said, either here or a different thread, I think the Platinum voucher will just move to a flat dollar amount. I also believe they will not allow it to cover gratuity if that becomes the case.

 

Careful with using that logic; some might come to tell you NCL is putting you on a diet and if you don't like it go on a land vacation.
