LizTO Posted December 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2015 Hi there, Just deciding if we should get a beverage package for our upcoming cruise on the Oasis. I know that cocktails start at $10 now. However is the price for a simple drink like vodka/sode rum/coke, etc. It cannot be $10...can it?! If anyone has been on a RC cruise lately and could let me know that would be helpful. Thanks!
setsail Posted December 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 22, 2015 (edited) On allure a week ago a vodka/cran was 8.26$ grat included. spookwife Posted December 22, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 22, 2015 beers averaged about $9-10 with grat on our last liberty. and the JD&Coke was $9.41 or thereabouts. I didn't pay too close attention since we left the ship with OBC still unused. OTOH my wines tended to be in the $20 range. what can i say, I like Vintages.... JulieRose Posted December 22, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 22, 2015 Just off Navigator Dec. 12. Vodka and tonic $8.26 including gratuity. I had suspected that they were just ringing up the $10.95 for everything no matter what because that's what all the slips said whether it was a long island iced tea or a vodka & tonic. Rare h20skibum Posted December 23, 2015 #10 Share Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) What about a beer, say Coors in 16oz can ? Beer on Oasis last month was 5.50 or 6.00 plus grats, depending on brand. Edited December 23, 2015 by h20skibum
steveru621 Posted December 23, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 23, 2015 If you want a simple drink order house anything with your mixer for $6 + tip. If you do not specify anything they will give you an expensive liquor. They will tell you that they don't have house vodka, not true. When they charge you for Absolut send it back. One night they charged me extra, I complained and got a visit from the bar manager + an apology. On Serenade two weeks ago. I got house vodka and tonic for 10 days for $6 + tip. My Grand Marnier was $7 + tip.

Or does it only work for simple "liquor + mixer" drinks like rum and coke, gin and tonic, etc.?
caseymorgan Posted December 23, 2015 #17 Share Posted December 23, 2015 I like the drink package for the simplicity of it. I'm on vacation and don't want to think about money. Plus we get our money's worth. An orange juice in the morning, pina colada by the pool, wine with dinner, and a drink or two at the show and casino... If you don't have to worry about the money when buying a drink package, then you probably don't really have to worry about money al la carte, you just like simplicity in budgeting. I, for one, cannot afford the over $1,140 it would cost my wife and me to get a drink package for our upcoming 10 day, which represents over half of our cruise fare for our inside cabin, including gratuities (and also represents more than are whole budget for pre-cruise hotel, taxis, additional meals, and excursions). For those of us who have to content ourselves with a drink or 2 a day, saving money on a la carte is a big deal.
pst4ever Posted December 23, 2015 #19 Share Posted December 23, 2015 There are also usually 2 for one drink specials going on someplace each day but if you have the drink package it doesn't matter.

Desert Cruizers Posted December 23, 2015 #21 Share Posted December 23, 2015 (edited) On the Serenade last Oct, my husband bought the Beer package and with Gratuity it came to $41/day. If I recall last year on the Radiance prior to his getting the package, he paid around $7 or $8 with gratuity. For my husband it pays for us to buy the Beer package.:) Edited December 23, 2015 by Desert Cruizers
