chiguypaul Posted December 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 26, 2015 Just curious If anyone has ever bought an unlimited drink package of any kind and then been cut off because of consuming too much in a short period of time?
Rare Lionesss Posted December 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) I have not heard of anyone reaching the limit. The time limit was enforced on my DH He ordered a martini, and hated it. Went back to same bar within minutes and they actually told him he had to wait. Whatever so he waited in front of the bartender with the martini that he told the bartender he did not like----- and I do not know if the bartender got sick of seeing him, but he got another drink after about a 5 min. wait. Enjoy Edited December 26, 2015 by Lionesss
nolimits Posted December 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2015 I really doubt someone would admit that.LOL I will say I have been overserved and still served so no cut off, I was only served because I kept asking,My own doing.Bar tenders know how to slow you down but they don't know where else or for how long you've been drinking

Retired LEO Posted December 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 26, 2015 If the bartenders feel that you've had too much they can and will cut you off.

denatravels Posted December 26, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 26, 2015 If the issue is that you didn't like the drink, go to another bar and they should serve right away.
George C Posted December 26, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 26, 2015 I drink a bit and have never been cut off, love the premium package, I have been told that there is a minute min wait between drinks, but some bartenders ignore that and I had a friend that did RCCL and the Carnival, he was cut off on Carnival after 15 drinks and all adults in cabin need to buy package, but this is not true on RCCL
Retired LEO Posted December 26, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 26, 2015 If the issue is that you didn't like the drink, go to another bar and they should serve right away. There's still a time limit between drinks.

denatravels Posted December 26, 2015 #11 Share Posted December 26, 2015 There's still a time limit between drinks. I've never experienced this-- by the time you walk to another bar, place the order, they make the order, and then they swipe your card-- I've never had an issue. spookwife Posted December 26, 2015 #13 Share Posted December 26, 2015 Just curious If anyone has ever bought an unlimited drink package of any kind and then been cut off because of consuming too much in a short period of time? its less a matter of how much you drink in a time frame and more a matter of your behavior/attitude and ability to stand up. I know people who would be a belligerent drunk with physical violence after 3-4 drinks and I know people who can drink 8-10 in the same amount of time and not bother anyone. the bar staff/crew has a legal responsibility to cut ANYONE off who is a danger to themselves or others. whether that is after 1 drink or a dozen. Mommags123 Posted December 26, 2015 #15 Share Posted December 26, 2015 I can tell you that if you get too drunk you may be escorted back to your cabin. If you become obnoxious or if you become too drunk too often they can take away drinking privileges for the rest of the cruise. This, sadly , happened to someone we were traveling with in spite of some efforts to baby sit him..... Moderation!!!!!

Garavar Posted December 26, 2015 #17 Share Posted December 26, 2015 Friend of mine ordered drinks like water. No idea how many he had in the entire day but it was alot. He is very heavy and although intoxicated he seemed "fine" Towards end of night some officers came to his room to "talk" to him. He said they pretty much interrogated him about whether he was actually drinking the drinks or sharing it with someone else. He told them he had all the drinks himself and they seemed satisfied. They didnt bother him rest of cruise and he drank like a fish daily.
springaussie Posted December 26, 2015 #18 Share Posted December 26, 2015 The bar guy on Voyager told a lady she was not have anymore for the remainder of the night while I was standing beside her in 2013. Deck Patrol was supervising.

ccryder Posted December 26, 2015 #20 Share Posted December 26, 2015 We have never had a problem. Many times we would sit at the bar, finish our drink and order another one and a bottle of water to take to our room.

ShawninFL Posted December 27, 2015 #22 Share Posted December 27, 2015 Bartenders on RC told us that in the fine print it does say you are purchasing a specific number of drinks but it's only enforced if someone is too intoxicated and getting out of hand. They do enforce a 5 minute time limit between drinks, but our bartenders took care of our group on that front. Our group frequently ordered a round of Fireball shots along with our cocktails. They would serve us everything together and then just hold onto our cards to run the second drink a bit later. We've found if you take care of your bartender on Royal Caribbean (tip over the gratuity already included) you'll pretty much get what you want within reason. Now on Carnival, you really are just prepaying for 15 drink credits. One credit equaled up to one $10 drink. If you wanted something over $10, it was 2 credits. (A friend was on a different Carnival ship a month after us this fall and said if they ordered a drink over $10 they paid one drink credit plus the amount over $10). If you used all 15 credits, you could not order or purchase any additional alcoholic drinks until 6 AM the next morning. We found over-tipping on Carnival gets you nowhere, not even a Myers Rum float on a frozen drink.
papcx Posted December 27, 2015 #23 Share Posted December 27, 2015 I think the "time limit" is just a bar tenders way of slowing down someone who's close to being cut off. I've seen a friend cut off. The bar tender said they'd had a lot and he would serve them a water and maybe more alcohol later. The other 2 bar tenders wouldn't serve her either. About half an hour later we were all back on the B52's. And water.
mollyeilis Posted December 28, 2015 #24 Share Posted December 28, 2015 Bartenders on RC told us that in the fine print it does say you are purchasing a specific number of drinks... There is no fine print available to us, that I can find, that says anything of the sort. So if they are saying there is something, it certainly isn't binding on US, since we can't read it before buying. :) (I am NOT arguing with the concept of bartenders keeping us safe...just the what-I-think-is nonsense of there being some place where a total number of drinks is written in fine print)

For being drunk yes. For simply having to many drinks, no.
