to those who have cruised Allure/Oasis...

Recommended Posts

I watched a video showing Oasis yesterday and its size. I could not believe it and what it had to offer. It really was like a small city/huge mall. So my question is- do you really get a chance to experience all those ships have to offer on a 7 day cruise? Seems there just wouldn't be enough time. Also, don't you get tired of all the walking since it is so large? Like what if you forgot something in your cabin all the way across the opposite side of the ship? Sometimes it is a huge trek on just "normal" size ships. I guess what I am trying to ask is- is bigger always better?

We have cruised on both and have not experienced everything on the ships. Just incentive to go back. :)

We book a centrally located cabin (midships deck 6) to cut down on the distance to activities but never did get tired of walking. If you are in at least average health it's no big deal.

I've been on Oasis. Going on Allure in 36 days.

Did not have a problem with walking. We choose a cabin close to the aft elevator lobby, as that is pretty convenient to the Promenade, Central Park, Boardwalk, Dining Room, Windjammer, and pools (with an elevator ride or some stairs, of course). I personally feel that the forward lobby is convenient to less things, but that's just me.

Regarding experiencing everything, well I think it depends. For example, if you're a specialty restaurant fanatic, you're probably not going to get to every place. If you like the active things like the rock wall, you can probably get to do everything. So I think it depends on what each person feels that they want to. On the Oasis, I didn't get to experience everything, but that's fine because there were several things I didn't care to experience.

I was on Oasis last month and going on the Allure at the end of this month. It's big but never feels too big.

Did I experience everything. NO - but I did this on purpose as I knew I was going again shortly after the first cruise. Keep in mind, Allure/Oasis itineraries *usually* have only 3 ports. This gives you 3 full sea days to do plenty of exploring.

Our cabin was close to the aft elevators as well and will be on this next one. It's easy access to the Boardwalk, Central Park, Royal Promenade, Pools, Casino. If you are going to book anywhere, do it close to the aft elevators.

Been on both, and you will not be able to do "everything" on a 7 day cruise. But the same can be said of any ship. You just have to pick those things that interest you and do what you want.

Yes, they are big, but how much walking you do depends on your lifestyle and what you are use to. According to my fitbit, I logged 84 miles on our last 7 day on the Oasis. Of course, every day started with a 5k on the track before breakfast, and we never used elevators.

One of these ships should be experienced at least once.

I have a problem walking more than half a block because I run out of air. I walked all over Oasis and loved it. If I lived on the ship, I'd probably increase my lung capacity over time.

It's also the only ship in years were I've attended most of the entertainment. The Aqua show is marvelous, and so is the ice skating show. We're sailing on Oasis again in June.

I was on the Allure for 12 days and found that while yes going from one end to the other can be a walk, unless are late for something it is not that big of a deal. We didn't do everything as we didn't want to but there is plenty for everyone.

It was nice being able to sit outside and have breakfast with no wind.

Johnny Rockets is great for breakfast.

We have cruised Mariner - Freedom--Allure and Oasis ships.

Yes they are bigger than the other classes, and yes we always find something new when we sail them.

I would love to do a back to back to really enjoy, but every time we sail we never get bored and always find something to do.

Go for it, even if you do not get to do it all what you do accomplish will make great memories.

Safe travels.

Of our 18 cruises, Oasis was our favorite. We would love to go back to do some of the things we did not get to do. Right now, the prices are too high, but we hope to get a deal on the new dates when they release the rest of 2017...

We don't mind walking and did not get tired - event though we had the most aft boardwalk balcony. :D Great view!

I went on Oasis for the first time last month, and I would be thrilled to go on her again. We were limited by our toddler, so we certainly did not do it all. We did a lot of walking, and I was glad to have a small stroller, but I did not feel the ship was too large, despite having a cabin near the aft of the ship. It might be problematic for someone with mobility issues, though. We loved the neighborhood layout.

My wife and I have cruised on Allure twice now and we just booked Oasis for May. No, you probably won't have time to do everything. I have yet to do the zip line or rock wall but I plan on fixing that this time. :D

You will find that shows and/or your selected dining times can sometimes conflict with things that only happen once. For example, we missed the promenade disco party on our first cruise because we were watching Chicago. The last cruise we did, I used a Cruise Compass I found on here from a prior cruise and did our show reservations accordingly. That was too stressful so I'm not doing that this time. Plus I have no desire to go to Cats on the Oasis. :)

These ships are awesome. We had decided we were going on a Southern Caribbean cruise this year to do something different but we just couldn't pass up the Oasis ship class.

I've said it before but it is worth repeating. Yes, it is a huge ship but oh so fun! It has two main banks of elevators. When you arrive and register at the port, you will receive a simple map of the ship. Each time you leave your room to head to a designated location (main dining room, windjammer, casino, pools, etc.), write down Left or Right Elevators or if at the end or front of the ship - 1st elevator or 2nd elevator. Trust me, it will save you a ton of steps if you know which direction to turn every time you leave your cabin.

That little homemade map became our bible since I am so directionally challenged.

First and only time we booked a cruise for the ship:) - Allure was the DESTINATION.

Amazing ship, also it was worth splurging for the All Access Tour, since it is the biggest "dingy".

Enjoyed very much the shows - Planet, Ice Games and Aqua. Loved the artwork and the "lost treasures".

Lucky to have a balcony near elevators, deck 8 at the entrance to Central Park (per recommendations on this forum), which we enjoyed strolling through.

Since we didn't care for standing in line to be seated at WJ, we decided that we don't like big ships, we'll stick with Radiance class from now on.

Otherwise, the ship didn't felt crowded.

We've sailed Oasis twice and Allure this past November. The ship is the destination for us. I had a mobility issue on the Allure cruise, but I still managed to go wherever I wanted on the ship. It just took a little longer to get there. The ships are huge, but we always book deck 8 so we are near Central Park which you can use to cut across the ship. If you don't go to the WJ at peak times, you won't be standing in line to eat. There are plenty of other places to eat lunch that aren't as crowded. There are also plenty of elevators and the stairs are never crowded. These ships provide something for everyone so you can do as much as you like or nothing at all. Book it and enjoy!
