midnight sushi Posted January 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Has on-board ice skating ever been cancelled on you?
Cruising-Snowbird Posted January 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Sure.... Depending on how high the seas and rocking of the ship will determine if the ice show is canceled. It has happened a couple times to us. They will try to make up the show at a later time if possible.
Langley Cruisers Posted January 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Yes for us as well. The safety of the performers, or the guests if it is the free skate, is paramount.

midnight sushi Posted January 17, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Ever got cancelled for technical difficulties?
retird Posted January 17, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Technically rough seas causing significant movement of the ship is a technical difficulty. Happened to us on a couple of cruises. They did not score the technical difficulty in those instances:)
dpostman Posted January 17, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2016 Yep. On Liberty last April, the public Ice Skate was cancelled because the Ice refrigeration was running bit low and for the safety of the performers, the Public skating was cancelled to make sure the ice was in good enough shape for the actual shows. My wife and I did not mind. We're from Canada and can skate whenever we feel like it. We just wanted to go so we could say we skated on a cruise ship.;) dp
Russ Lomas Posted January 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 18, 2016 All skating and diving shows were cancelled on our Oasis sailing 3 years ago. This included the public skating sessions. All due to rough seas. They did reschedule some of them later in the voyage when weather was a bit better. Timing was not the best though. They offered one diving show while docked in St. Maarten since that meant the ship would not be rocking for the performers.
Langley Cruisers Posted January 18, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 18, 2016 Ever got cancelled for technical difficulties? Do you have a reason for asking such specific questions? Sorry, it just seems odd to me??......
Desert Cruizers Posted January 18, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 18, 2016 We had it cancelled on one of our cruises but they did a make up show later in the week. The skaters were having difficulty with their lifts and safety was a concern

mollyeilis Posted January 18, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 18, 2016 I would be so sad if the show or public-skate had to be cancelled. I would understand why, but I would also be sad.
monctonguy Posted January 18, 2016 #13 Share Posted January 18, 2016 The public skates were cancelled on my most recent cruise on IOS due to some the fact the show skaters needed extra time to practice. I am sure there were some disappointed kids that day. But the ice show was pretty good.
sky0000547 Posted January 18, 2016 #14 Share Posted January 18, 2016 I would be so sad if the show or public-skate had to be cancelled. I would understand why, but I would also be sad. There are different sessions throughout the day and throughout the whole cruise for public skating, if you missed all these sessions then you are really unlucky. As for the ice show, RCI would try to rearrange for another show on a different day if possible. Again you will be very unlucky not to get a chance to see one.
