Hump Cabin Warning

As we like to stay up late the nighttime noise won't be a problem in the evening.. What about in the mornings? Booming PA announcements? Thriller dance lessons? Any information on morning noise in these cabins would be greatly appreciated as we are In 8102 on the jewel Spring TA. Thanks in advance

Late morning, around 11 am, they had country music blasting for line dancing lessons.

We recently switched to 8102 on the Brilliance TA in April when it became available. My wife was worried about the noise. I said not to worry and the balcony would be awesome. I hope she does not read this thread! :D

Honestly, at this point... day 3... I would rather have no balcony than deal with this b.s.

We have always had hump balconies on Radiance Class ships and have never had noise issues. So wonder if this is fairly new. We were on Brilliance in Nov with a hump balcony and we had no issues with noise at all. We were on Deck 8

When you were on the ship, did they have a rock band in the centrum every night? I only remember piano music or soft sounds in the past. This band is good, but it should be in a club.

We are onboard with you. When we met you at the pool bar the other day and you told me that you had that cabin I thought "Oh no I hope the noise does not bother her". We had that cabin once and never again. We make sure we are at least 6 or more cabins down from the Centrum like Bob said.

Hi! When I get home I will be changing the cabin numbers on our other bookings!

I have cabin 8586 booked on Serenade for April. I don't understand how the noise from the Centrum filters all the way out to the balcony or is it just in the cabin where people notice the noise? Am I missing something?

It is inside the cabin and only annoying if you are seeking quiet.

I agree, on Freedom and Voyager class, there is no noise issue at all with hump staterooms.

Happy to see this. :)

We are in barely a hump, 8314, on Navigator and don't know what to expect since I have always booked rear facing aft, except for this ship, so this is a new experience.

Yes. That's the center of the ship, where most things happen. Groups with singers every day and night, special events at night, loud music.

Is there anything else you can report on? Are you enjoying your cruise otherwise?

Nothing new. Centrum just being used a lot now. Previously party band played in the Colony club, now in Centrum.

The part that bothers me about using the Centrum so much is the smoke from the casino. It drifts out into the Centrum and goes up many decks. Very troublesome. :(

I had a group of 6 which included me on the BR June 2014 for a Baltic cruise

When was the last time ship was in dry dock ?

Having been in the music business as a tour director for over 30 years

I know different types of music and acts can be completely different

On our cruise it was a piano player and a singer most nights and we all had

rooms in the said areas , the only night I heard anything was on the 70's Night

It funny that people seem to go crazy over 70's night. Now I am a 60's hippie and it is my understanding that the new ships are now doing away with the 70's

silliness and going with a 90's night

May 2013.

Thanks Bob

I was thinking it was recently done before our Baltic cruise.

All I can thing is the sound problems has to be with the entertainment used during said cruises.

As you know cruise destinations brings different clientele that the CD needs to cater to.

There have been many cruises since dry dock and really not that many complaints when you weigh it all .

I am writing this while aboard Brilliance of the Seas. We booked a hump cabin, #8088. Do not book this type of cabin if you want to sleep before 1 a.m. The bands that used to play in nightclubs now play in the centrum of the ship! The noise in this cabin is so loud! Horrible.

The guest relations person told me all ships do this now with bands.

If you have at least 50% hearing loss, it still makes a good cabin. :D

I'm in a hump on Allure, should I be expecting loud music or is it just the other class of ships?

The hump/centrum loud music problem is only on Radiance and Vision class ships. The humps on Oasis class are not even around the centrums.

Ugh, thanks for the warning! We are thinking of cruising on our beloved Jewel again soon & were considering trying to get a hump cabin on her but with this news will stick with our fave location of deck 7 forward E1 & E3 cabins with the bigger balconies :)

I just don't get the appeal of those balconies. They just seem creepy with the half wall at the rail. Are those the ones your talking about?

We were in #8088 on Brilliance back in late Sept-early October and loved the location!! My grown daughter and I. Since we were out most nights, by the time we got back to our cabin, the music had stopped playing. We enjoyed it while we were in our cabin getting dressed for dinner or something during the early evening. I loved being the first cabin off the elevator area. Sorry your experience wasn't great. The only thing I wish WE had was better weather. It was a fall foliage cruise to Canada. Not a tropical cruise! :).

I don't know what kind of half wall you're talking about - these are the ones I mean...If you're talking about the clear glass partition extension then *shrug* they're not creepy at all, lol:rolleyes:

That's the one, standing up there you just can't help looking at your neighbors. at least in a regular balcony you only get people looking at you if they lean out and look back. it's just an odd setup

Are those rubber bullets?

Brillo! Don't know if you remember me from our Freedom cruise ;) I see you and your son are sailing exactly one month before us on the Oasis! Have an awesome cruise - we're really looking forward to this one :D

p.s.

your hydration cure for hangovers has helped us more than once since our cruise :p
