Is My 6 Year Old $100 Casino Chip Still Good?

I unknowingly walked off the Liberty of the Seas in 2010 with a $100 casino chip. When I got home I called RCL and was told they used to allow people to mail them the chips and would send them the money, but, alas, they had just changed their policy a few weeks prior and no longer did that. I was told my only option was to wait until my next RCL cruise.

Fast forward 6 years and I am sailing on the Navigator this coming April. Any predictions on what will happen when I go to the casino with this chip?

Don't they have the name of the ship on them?? I just used some on the BR that a friend left with last April and the ship's name was on the chips.

Yep, ships name and artwork are unique. Like I said earlier, I've seen different ships in the small denominations, but never the big ones.

I was just wondering if you could cash a Liberty chip on the Navigator as the OP was asking about since it is not the same ship

I'm wondering that as well. Laura cash's in $100 chips at the table most every night and I don't recall the dealers looking at them very diligently. Pretty sure the current chips on Freedom are unchanged in the last 6 years.

Went on Victory Casino ship last spring and they still had commemorative chips from last space shuttle launch in circulation

The $100 and $500 chips have the ship's name on them. The dealer will catch that at the table. I would go to cashier and get the chip cashed out...If they refuse to give you cash, see if they will give you smaller chips and go play with that

Or get smaller chips and turn them in the next day ;)

Good luck, hope they honor the chip. Let us know how it turns out please

Last week on the Navigator I presented the chip at the casino cage on the first day. The cashier said she would take a picture of it and also send an email to the Liberty of the Seas. She took the picture, handed me back the chip and asked that I give them two days. Two days later I exchanged the chip for a C-note.

That's great to hear (and promising). I have a $100 chip, albeit on NCL from a cruise in 2009. I forgot to take it when I returned in 2014...I'm hoping to book in the next few years with them again. Granted, their policy may be different than RCI, but it does give me a bit of "hope".

Good info, Projunior.

Speaking of chips, my wife and I often get fridge magnets as cruise souvenirs. Once on the Liberty I noticed a $1 chip I had was really new. I kept it and glued a magnet to it. Not only is it cheaper than the magnets in the gift shop, it's unique.

Thanks for letting us know how it turned out. I hope it turned into a lucky C-note.;):p

I was just on Independence of the Seas a week ago, and this exact question came up. While no denomination was specified, the dealer indicated that they accepted chips from other RCI ships. You can also redeem chips by taking them to guest services, or even mailing them in.

With it being 6-7 years old, it may warrant a call first just to ensure that they didn't replace all their chips in between then and now (e.g. as an anti counterfeiting measure). But I'd bet you one black chip of my own that they'd accept it on any RCI ship.
