Clarea Posted February 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Does anyone know if Royal offers any kind of internet discount to Diamond members? A Diamond member gets either one free 24-hour period of internet, or $30/$40 (depending on the ship) off a package purchase.

TravelerThom Posted February 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2016 The package discount gives you two days at no cost for Diamond.BUT I think you have to sign up for the package for the remainder of the cruise. IF you sign up for the last 2 days you pay nothing, but if you sign up before that, you have to PAY for the days in excess of 2.
tserface Posted February 25, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2016 We got 2 24 hour deals (we're both Diamond level). We started them mid day so they extended to two days each and effectively covered 4 days of a 7 day cruise for free. Some days are in port and we can get LTE or local internet off ship. It works really well unless you need to be constantly connected. We go on cruises to be mostly unconnected so it works great for us. Tom
Rare Denversail Posted February 25, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted February 25, 2016 How does the one device package work? Can you have just one device logged in at a time or is it restricted to one device the entire package?

robtulipe Posted February 25, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2016 (edited) BUT I think you have to sign up for the package for the remainder of the cruise. IF you sign up for the last 2 days you pay nothing, but if you sign up before that, you have to PAY for the days in excess of 2. Correct, the internet package must be purchased for all remaining days onboard and you pay for any extra days you want not covered by your internet discount. DW and I both are D+ thus use one of our internet discounts for two consecutive 24 hour periods early and the other for the last four days at no cost by getting the package. On a 7 night cruise we always skip the first day as we typically have a pre-cruise hotel with free Wi-Fi internet and start using our internet credit on day 2 so we have no cost service for most of the cruise. On longer than 7 night cruises we'll skip a day between the 24 hours consecutive periods and before starting the package. This provides us with no cost internet every day of up to a 9 night cruise. On even longer cruise such as the 12 night Anthem one we go on in just over a week we factor in the port we know free or low cost Wi-Fi internet is available. The Anthem 12 night itineraries we did last month and are doing next have 3 sea days to return to Bayonne where having a 4 days package in nice. Also one can make use of the free to connect websites, like RCI and X, in the period they don't have regular internet onboard. ;) Edited February 25, 2016 by robtulipe

Actually one would have continuous internet not partial for 48 hours at the end of the cruise. ;) Edited February 25, 2016 by robtulipe
gacruzr Posted February 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 25, 2016 We are diamond plus and wanted to be able to use both of our devices so we took the $30 discount mentioned earlier and were able to have unlimited access for the 7 days for $97. We were on the Oasis and the VOOM is great. Never had a problem connecting.

We were on the Oasis and the VOOM is great. Never had a problem connecting. Doing that only takes advantage of one of your D+ discounts but this is the only way to do this if you must have two device access simultaneously all the time onboard. As mentioned earlier by Bob (clarea) two or more devices can be used with the single device plan just not at the same time. One possibility would be to use one of your D+ discounts first for two 24 hours consecutive single device periods and share the internet for those two days by going on the internet one device at a time. Then the second D+ discount could be used for a two device package for the last 5 days onboard which would cost only $52.50 for a saving of $45 on a voom internet ship. On a non-voom internet ship the savings would be $60 for doing this on a 7 night cruise. ;) Also since we try to book our cruises onboard to get the OBC and lower deposit that offers, I will use the free Wi-Fi access to RCI and Celebrity websites with my laptop to do my searches for current information on cruises and pricing. Since I need not log on to our internet plan for this it leaves that internet access available to our other device, DW's iPad. link99 Posted February 26, 2016 #16 Share Posted February 26, 2016 One discount per package. Thanks just have to go down and activate them toward the end of each 24 hour period. Last time we sailed on Majesty last year we went to try and activate at computer stations the diamond option was not an option to choose. Went to guest service and they just gave it to us for the 3 days at no charge. Prior to that was on the Legend still had the 60 minute Free option then. So this is first time we are having to really use the 24 hour option

Virtopia Posted February 26, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Do the older ships have a lower cost for unlimited internet? Does anyone know how the internet is on Rhapsody? Contemplating getting it. If it's under $100 with my discount, that would be great.

Currently the older ships, like Rhapsody, with non-voom internet are actually more expensive at $20/day for the single device and $30 for the two devices plan. Lucky for you all RCI ships are to have voom internet by later this Spring so the cost for your 10 night cruise should be $150 for the single device plan minus your 20% discount, since I believe you C&A Emerald with the cruises listed in your signature, so the final cost would be $120. The two device plan would have a final cost of $180 with your Emerald discount. Edited February 26, 2016 by robtulipe

Can it be arranged earlier in the cruise for those days or will we need to go friday morning? Can they be set up together or will we have to activate 1-24 hour period and then go back and do the next? Sorry for all the questions but very techy challenged ... :(

So Friday morning you use the info from one SeaPass card to active, and Saturday morning you use the other SeaPass card.
