Bad

American dining is a terrible/ 2 nights did not even get our entrees, than they serviced them when the rat of our table got their desert/ 3 nights one of us did not get a menu/ 2 other nights no drink order taken and 2 nights drinks never brought but charged/Food kind of like going to sizzler same ‘ol same ‘ol not very good/Formal American night looked like processed prime beef forgotten names and just be sure you write how much you like us.

Entertainment was poor in the fact that there is not a whole lot to do during the day/TV movies same ones over and over or pay for old movies out/went to cooking demo same exact thing we saw 5 years ago I mean it same food too

Buffet not a very good selection and a lot of them were closed early/

Nothing to make you feel like a long time customer returning except 2 bottles of water.

Good

9B room was great as was our room steward /he serviced our room morning and night and wen’t the extra mile each night with the towel people and any request was there right away.

FTTF well worth it so much less worry and luggage in room asap/ Tendered port just walked to the counter and they escorted us to the front to the tender.

Table mates outstanding there each night and wonderful to compare notes.

Oh man, there was a rat! That is bad.

JK, sorry to hear about the lousy service. The last time I went the worst service I got was at the bar, and mean all of them. I had the soda/bubbles package and once a bartender knew all I wanted was a pop and they were only getting 15% gratuity on a 1.50 instead 15% on a 9.00 alcohol beverage they would take any other person in front of me. I'm not even exaggerating

Really strange?? We've been on the Miracle many many times and have had wonderful service at dinner!

The American menu did not affect the service we received on the Conquest so hard to imagine why it would affect service on another ship?

When we have servers we don't like we just ask for a different staff because we have Your Time Dining and not assigned dining.

No way in Hell service was that bad consistent through the cruise without something being said or brought to the servers attention. Then turn around and talk about their wonderful tablemates.

Very strange, 30 cruises on Carnival and nothing even close to this happening to us.

We were on the 3/12 sailing. We had ATD. Only on elegant night we had an so-so service. Head waiter never came to our table, but went to every other table. Our water was never refilled. And the stupid shells were on the table, taking up valuable table space. The other nights we had excellent service.

We have had the new menu when it first came out on the Inspiration and like it, although there are still many of the old items on the new menu. We thought the food was on par or better than the old menu we had on the ship at the beginning of Feb.

I'm curious what your experience is since you're on the cruise after me. I was on the cruise last week and was very disappointed with the main dining room on nights 1 & 2. (YTD) Service was slow and even though we were seated shortly after opening, we had to skip dessert to be able to make it to the single showing of the Welcome Aboard show. We sat with another team on night 2 that had problems finding our saved wine (and didn't know that we had some, while in the past the waiters always knew ahead of time). Those two nights the wait staff did not seem to communicate and the teams seemed disorganized. This is how I felt on the Imagination when it received American Table.

Night 3 we ended up sitting with a great wait team that reminded me of the service we used to receive (and it wasn't even elegant night.) The Head Waiter was Sandro. His team was very organized, took care of everything quickly, and even topped up our water. We didn't tell him that we wanted faster service, but it just happened. In fact, we were sitting a row across from a group being served by another team. They had ordered their appetizers around the same time as us, but they hadn't even received their appetizers while we had finished ours and had our main dishes served. The "gentleman" at that table made a big fuss about it and went to eat at the buffet while the remaining ladies apologized to the waitress when she returned.

We thanked Sandro and provided him with an extra tip because up until that point I hadn't been enjoying the ship as much as I have on the prior 3 sailings. We asked for him and his team for the remaining nights, and always had excellent service in terms of speed (while not being rushed), recommendations, and all the little extras.

His team salvaged the MDR for me because the slow service would have made us miss our shows. The way they scheduled them on my trip left a lot to be desired. For shows that offered 2 showings, the second one would basically take up the rest of your evening since it was rare that even the comedy went on after 10:45pm. The Love & Marriage show, as well as Gender Showdown, were run as Night-time shows now instead of mid-day shows. It felt like they jam-packed everything in at the same time so if you wanted to eat dinner, see the main show, and catch at least one comedy show then it would be a challenge.

I hadn't heard of the cruise director (Saffie) before, but she called both Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlan islands, printed things in the Fun Times about "Caribbean" shopping, and talked on the on-board TV about the best deals in jewelry in the Caribbean. I guess she didn't realize what part of the world she is in :)

Exactly what I thought! It's like, I hated everything, but liked my tablemates? Huh? Personally, I have only had bad service ONCE, and got that resolved. We always do yourtime, since the beginning of it. I would not put up with bad service on a cruise anymore than I would at a land based eatery. All people have to do is speak up!

On the 3/12 sailing (the cruise before Saffie started), the shopping talk was called 'Caribbean'. Don't understand it. I thought they were going to talk about shops in the Caribbean, not Mexico.:D

OP, thanks for your review. I personally like the food on the American Table menu more than the old menus but I do hate the American Table concept.

I have to agree with you on entertainment, or lack of entertainment I should say. Carnival has really lost it in that area IMHO.

Sad about entertainment going downhill. We were on one of the last cruises with Ticket To Ride being done before they would scrap the props and replace it with playlist.

Think the American Table menu is fine. Think they should have tablecloths but not the end of the world.

I keep hearing about the menu change to "American Menu". Do you know when it changed? My parents went in early January...was it the old menu or the new American menu then?

What is the difference?

You mentioned you like the menu more, but hate the concept...why?

Thanks!
