Porters a few bucks Room Service $2-$5 depending on how much they are schlepping. jakeT Posted March 25, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Per bag $ 3. Bar people $1 every two or three drinks, free casino drinks,$1 drink Room steward $20 for 7 day cruise If someone is really going out of there way I would tip more. Room Stewart I would tip on second day. Can't help you if you tip on last day
jamscckmc Posted March 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 25, 2016 This is subjective of course. We give porters $1-2 per bag. Room steward $20-50 cash extra depending on the quality of service. Usually $20 to each of our servers in the MDR. $1-2 cash each round of drinks. (If you give them cash they can keep it. If you add to the drink charge it goes to the pool.) we usually do $5 cash for room service. Others have stated $2-3. You will get a lot of opinions when you open the tipping can of worms. From people who give a lot more to people who take the the automatic tips off.
jamscckmc Posted March 25, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Spa adds 15 % auto tip. I usually up it to 20% as I would at a salon at home. If they really do the hard sell of products I'm less likely to add the extra 5%😉
Savlamara Posted March 25, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 25, 2016 - Porters (per bag) - $2 per bag - Bartenders - $1 per drink - Room Stewart (per day/week) - $50 for the week - Room Service delivery person - $1 per plate Head waiter - $40-50 Asst waiters - $20 each which is usually 2 people When we go to brunch or breakfast and have a totally different waiter then usual we tip them $5 each time This is in addition to the auto gratuities

Thanks! . .50 a bag IF you hire them to move your bags from one point to another. DO NOT tip the people that just take your bags. Bartenders and room stewarts are automatically tipped, but if someone does something special, certainly, reward them if you like. Room service should be proportional to the tip you pay for a full 2 hour served meal. Tips for those meals are a little over $2 per person per meal. SO a delivery of a tray of food should be half or less than half of that, but again, at your discretion. And a lot less more if it's not a full meal. TerReuv Posted March 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted March 25, 2016 - Porters (per bag)- Bartenders (every couple of drinks) - Room Stewart (per day/week) - Room Service delivery person - and nyone else I might have forgotten? Thanks! . Remember that all your bar bills will have an automatic 15% added for tip. You can tip extra if you wish. Room steward is tipped through auto tips. If our steward is really good (usually they are), then we tip them a bit more at the end of the cruise. No need to tip ahead of time since you have no idea if they will be great. Others swear by the "up front tip" also known as a bribe. If you don't want to do that, no need. Room Service - as others have said a couple of dollars depending on how much you have ordered. You can add this to your S&S card by writing it on the receipt you have to sign or you can give cash. We usually do cash. Remember, no matter what you read on here tipping is your decision only. No one else needs to know how much or how little you tip extra or otherwise. Pay no attention to anyone trying to guilt you into tipping more. Tips are earned, especially extra tips that are in addition to the auto grats.
lowroller Posted March 25, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 25, 2016 - Porters (per bag)- Bartenders (every couple of drinks) - Room Stewart (per day/week) - Room Service delivery person - and nyone else I might have forgotten? Thanks! . Porters, I have a problem tipping them, but I still do. $5 total, after all, the ones that I have used only pick my luggage up off the sidewalk and put it on a cart. Bartenders are tipped automatically on the bill you sign, if they are good I give additional $1 or $2 I get comped drinks in the casino so I tip $2 a drink. Room Steward is tipped out of the daily charge, but I have always given him or her an extra $20 when I see them, as I just want ice in my cooler. Room service, I never used but I'd think $5 would be good
Pyrate13 Posted March 25, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 25, 2016 This is what we do but it is just a suggestion as you asked. Porters - $2 per bag Bartenders - $1 per drink Room Steward - We leave the auto-tips and add extra at the end if they have done a good job Room Service - up to $5 depending in what is ordered DO NOT tip the people that just take your bags. Sounds more like an order than a suggestion.
Schoifmom Posted March 25, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 25, 2016 (edited) I pretty much echo what everyone else says: Room STEWARD receives the auto-grautities, but I tip a little extra at the end depending on the level of service I receive. Same with wait staff (MDR, lido deck, etc). They automatically add 15% to the bill for drinks, so I don't normally tip extra unless I receive some extra service (like getting an ice bucket for my wine/champagne, etc). Porters, I tip $1-$2 per bag or $5 for three bags (which is what we normally have). Room service gets $1 per item, depending on how many things we order. If we get a tray of food, I usually cough up a $5. I don't use the spa or children's services, but they should get tipped if you use them. DH used to get wheelchair assistance before he got his scooter, so we would always tip whoever pushed the wheelchair. Again, tipping is at your discretion. Don't feel bullied into tipping more than you are comfortable with, but please do remember to tip! Edited March 25, 2016 by Schoifmom
suzycruiser2 Posted March 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Porters - we usually have three bags - $5 Room steward - in addition to the auto-tips, we tip for everything extra that we ask for - extra ice, extra glasses, etc. - $2-$5 each; plus extra cash on the last night for an outstanding job Room service - $1 per item generally
cmukid87 Posted March 25, 2016 #13 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Porters - $2-$5 Room service - $2-$5, depending on size of delivery Steward - $10 at the start of the week, $10-$20 at the end, depending on service Bartenders - $1 every handful of drinks Drink runner (lido deck/comedy/etc) $1/drink

simplelife Posted March 25, 2016 #17 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Porters, $2-3 per bag. Room service $2-5 depending on how much they have to bring. Drinks have the gratuity already added, so unless you have a special bartender you use throughout the cruise, there is no need to tip. If you leave on the auto tips, the room steward and waitstaff are already covered, although I may give something extra at the end if the steward has been particularly attentive or if I have had the same waitstaff the entire cruise and have had good service. . I tip the Maitre 'd a couple of dollars he helps with a special request. I don't use the spa or salon, so I have no suggestions for that.

Anything over or under this amount is up to you on the quality of service.

esdoorn Posted March 25, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide me with an idea of tips over and above the auto-tip system and also for tipping the porter. Schoifmom Posted March 25, 2016 #23 Share Posted March 25, 2016 Porters are paid by cruiseline. No need for tips. Do you mean to tell me that when you have someone who assists with your baggage (bellhops, curbside assistance at the airport, shuttle drivers, etc) you NEVER tip them? I'm surprised that you ever see your luggage. It is common courtesy in the US to tip those who provide additional services.
