BEWARE of calling for price changes

So the other day I called CAS to see if there was any price reduction on the two rooms that I have booked with them as I saw a OBC promotion going on. The woman looked up our reservations and told me that it was best (cheaper) to leave second room as it was but that there were savings on the first room.

My final payment would be reduced by @ $160 and I would receive a $50 OBC. Only stipulation was that I had to pay off the final payment (which was @ $240)

Before hanging up I specifically asked if my dining and beverage package were the same and she said "absolutely" I hung up thinking I had saved some money.

Saturday I called NCL to just double check that my dinner reservations carried over as I never received an email with my changes. I found out that they DID NOT. The reason was because during that last change I lost one day of SDP! Went from 4 to 3! CAS was closed so I had to wait until today to call.

I called today and found out that not only did I lose the one day dining but the $160 saving that I thought I got was actually the tax/gratuity back from the Beverage package for 2. I LOST THAT TOO! They had to call the help desk to get my reservation back to its original state.

So I saved NOTHING,,have to redo all my dining reservations, and was forced to pay final payment before it wasn't actually due on 4/5 !

How far out is your cruise? I've done price reductions and added perks with CAS, but only when my cruises were months from sailing and have gotten price reductions, as well as new promotional perks. I wouldn't try this if I were 30 days or less out or if the new promotion is giving perks less than what I had.

You need to be careful with CAS. Depending on who you talk to you will get another answer. I always try to deal with the same one or two people and always request my info sent to me via e-mail prior to changing anything.

Our cruise is 6/19/16. I wasn't sure exactly what the new promotion was, that was why I called. I was inquiring what the "Earn up to $500 OBC "was all about. Had she told me I would have never agreed to change. She put me on hold for a long time then told me what my savings were.

Sorry this happened to you and thanks for letting everyone know. If I do it again, I'll make sure I have a list of everything I'm getting prior to the change and have them send me an email, before I change, on everything that I will get with the change. Thanks again for the warning.

My CAS rep that I work with ALWAYS emails me a new reservation and amenity invoice for me to see before we hang up.

When I have called before to add the 2nd perk when it was offered and another time I added dining package to third person they did the same thing. I spoke with a guy who was super nice (I wish I knew his name). This time it was a lady.

You don't get the name of people you are talking to?

No I didn't... But I will now! I am actually calling back now so that I can find out the name of the guy that I dealt with in the past so that I can just talk to him in the future. Lesson learned!

Thank you for the heads up. I have learned from this forum to be very careful when repricing or trying to get addtl perks. I am not making ANY changes to my booking because I don't foresee a better deal than what I have currently.

That's what happens when you deal with CAS, instead of NCL.

CAS blows.

This my first time booking withCAS using cruise certificates through twin river casino. The person I spoke with was well informed and helped me get a great price and amenities. She instantly sent me an amenities confirmation. We got an ocean view room with picture window, UBP, 4 night dining and trip insurance for $1,000 total. That is 1/3 of ncl price without the dining. I am very happy with CAS.

Me too! On the cruise I booked this week, I got a great price in upgrading to penthouse suite (would have had a free mini-suite, but chose to upgrade), plus 2 perks. After my first cruise, I've only dealt with CAS and have always gotten a great price and great service.
