Upgrade Fairy

Does anyone know if the upgrade fairy can find you if you have transferred your booking to a travel agent?

Thanks!:)

Yes, we've been upgraded with bookings held by an agent.

I'm not sure that the upgrade fairy is still alive and well. Some say that the old upgrade fairy has retired, and has been replaced by the upsell fairy.

Of late, even some of the higher Pinnacles have said that they have been called by Royal Caribbean and were offered an upgrade..............for a price.

Times change.

As D+, we have never gotten an upsell offer, but we were upgraded on the second leg of a back to back on Independence. We learned of it while sitting in the dining room waiting to be escorted off the ship. So you just never know!

I wouldn't mind an upsell-- have a D5 on the 11th on Oasis and really wish I booked a JS instead -- already made final payment so too late to modify.

Actually, near the Diamond Lounge (Hoping it will stay available to us mere Diamonds now)

Does the upsell fairy leave a message if she calls? Asking because a) I teach and cannot answer my phone unless I'm on prep or lunch and b) I often don't answer the phone if I don't recognize the number. (I pondered answering it one day when a number from Ft. Lauderdale popped up, but a reverse look up showed that it was some VA Medical Center or something, so no more pondering that one as I know no one in a VA Medical Center in FLL or anywhere else.)

I assume the upgrade fairy just visits and you find out when you happen to look at your reservation (or when you get to the port if she visits after you've printed everything and looked at the reservation for the last time)?

(And generally curious as I tool a peep at available cabins using the UK site and there are a number of suites of varying kinds as well as a LOT of balconies of varying kinds, including a couple of aft balconies. So... Who knows.)

The upset fairy isn't so bad. I've heard of many GS folks that they've gotten a $100pp upgrade to a CLS, which is typically a $1000 jump. Not a bad gig.

Because Royal can't sell them for the ridiculous prices they ask. Never could imagine having to go up a flight of stairs to go to bed

Have been lucky and upgraded 3 times in last year (D+). Each time no phone call received by me or my agent, just happened to notice the upgrade when I checked my reservation on line On My Cruises? Twice the upgrade was noticed 5 days before and once a couple of weeks. Think I've probably hit my quota of upgrades!!

The upgrade fairy is alive, I just had to wake her up. I really could not believe this happened. I was booked and had already paid in full for a GS on the Oasis, for next weeks cruise. This happened about 4 or 5 weeks ago. I was watching the prices on the OS, but just did not want to let go of another 1700. dollars. Then the price dropped so it would cost me additional 800. dollars. I thought about it and since I really wanted the OS, I justified it in my mind that it was only a little over 100 a night, 50 more per person. Yeah I know convoluted thinking, but I was trying to justify the additional money. So I called my TA, and told them I wanted to upgrade to the OS, and would pay the additional 800. Well to shorten the story, about 30 minutes later I got a phone call back from my TA, and she said I got the upgrade, and it would not cost me any additional money, same price I paid for the GS, and I got to keep my OBC, and the paid gratuities. I was floored and so very very happy, I still am! We sail next Saturday in an OS on the Oasis. Thank you upgrade fairy 😃

Are there still JS available? We had paid in full for our D1 on Brilliance and then upgraded to a JS when the price dropped. We paid $285 for the upgrade.

I've heard of similar experiences from others as well, which is why I continue to monitor prices. They've come down some, but not enough that I've called to ask. I figure the worst that can happen is nothing.

I've never had a visit from the upgrade/upsell fairy since we began cruising on RC. Once I had a free upgrade from a mini-suite to a full suite on Princess. Another time I had a upsell on Carnival from a Grand Suite to the Penthouse Suite.

Cruising is a great way to travel. Enjoy!

My hope has been restored in the upgrade fairy. We booked our cruise last June for the Radiance of the Seas 5 day leaving on May 15.... I booked a inside room for the two of us and specifically picked one of the inside rooms that is a bit bigger than the regular. It was a sideways room instead of the ones that go deep, not sure how to expain that one. LOL About a month ago I received an email from our travel agent stating that we had been upgraded to a outside room on the same floor. When I checked the new booking I found that it was the last room on the third floor right at the back of the ship. Honestly I was not really to happy but quickly looked and saw that our original room was no longer available. Oh well at least now we have a window, will live with it. I checked our reservation yesterday and discovered that we had been upgraded yet again. This time to a balcony room on the 9th floor.

We have never been upgraded before, and now it was twice in one cruise. Needless to say we are very happy.

We booked internal guarantee on Ovation Dubai to Singapore and we got upgraded to Ocean View. There are quite a few on roll call who got upgraded from internal guarantee to balcony.

I was surprised and delighted. I think you should always be happy with cabin you book as I think these are rare. I'm guessing the upgrades on our sailing are because the ship isn't going to be anywhere near full.
