Other than renting a car we are looking at another way of getting from Miami airport to hotel we are staying at night before cruise by the cruise port.

Any advice?

Thanks

Cab is about $35, less than you would pay to park the car at hotel

It is a bit more cumbersome depending on your luggage but there is the rail connection from Miami to ft lauderdale airport that tins every 30 minutes, or used to.

The cost is about $5 pp.

I did it once when an accident closed the highway and wait times required hours for the shuttle.

Before doing anything I suggest you check with your hotel. They are likely to have an arrangement with a transport company or can provide you with recommendations. There are quite a few transport companies that do shuttle runs between these two cities. Some go FLL to Miami, others go MIA to Ft Lauderdale. We recently did a FLL hotel to Miami cruiseport for $15pp each way. You can try the super shuttle, go-airport shuttle or fortlauderdaletransfers dot com. There are quite a few others if you google search or check the Florida board.

Be aware, there is always lots of construction and traffic between Miami and FLL that could potentially make what should be a quick shuttle into a lengthy ordeal, especially during commuting hours. We were fortunate to use a company that was able to negotiate back roads. We were arriving early to the ship, so adding 30 mins was okay with us.

We have used the Metrorail on two occasions to get from MIA to a hotel in FLL. It worked very well for us, and as Arno said, it is very cheap! We never had a problem with crowds and there was plenty of room for our luggage in racks in the train cars. If I remember correctly, we took a bus to get to the rail station. You can easily pick up timetables and route maps at the airport, and there are employees who are very willing to help you navigate the system. We are from a "one stoplight town" in MT and had no trouble getting to our destination.

Last year we used people mover ( kind of train, no bus) to reach MIA airport train station, took train to Fort-Lauderdale and there took taxi to hotel. Cheap and easy

We used SAS transportation this past February. They were reliable and inexpensive!

I agree and also have used them a number of times. However their service won't work for the OP as SAS doesn't service the Miami International Airport, South Beach, Miami Beach or Miami Airport Area Hotels.
