want to see more tv programming on your room TV's

Recommended Posts

RCCL used to have lots of free movies on TV, would be nice if they had what Celebrity has, but I like the DVD in suites so we bring movies and TV series we can watch when we want ( Hal has dvd player in all cabins) , I also cruised before cabins had dvd's and balconies

We too love to relax before bed and watch TV and old movies. I noticed there is a DVD player in our suite on the Adventure. Will DVD movies from the US work in the DVD player? I know sometimes the are coded. When we were on Holland, you got them from their library, so I never thought to bring our own.

Thanks,

Roy

A few additional episodes of any given show on the loops would be nice, but I wouldn't pay more in my cruise fare for additional channels. Maybe they can have a contract for $25 more per cruise to unlock 20+ additional channels. I can think of a laundry list of other things I'd rather RCI up my cruise fare for before additional channels.

Some years ago they used to have a channel called, I believe, Me TV. The programming was comprised of old tv shows such as Burns & Allen, Ozzie & Harriet, etc. Enjoyed while dressing for dinner--brought back such good memories.

My parents get me tv at their house. That and antenna tv. One has a lot of love boat and murder she wrote.

When we travel in the motor home, we can almost always pull MeTV on the over the

air channels. It is a free channel, so obviously costs RCI nothing to show it. ;)

Although I am happy to be away from home and TV for a week or two, my disabled husband spends a great deal of time in the cabin in his lift chair during a cruise. He needs to rest often. It would be nice to have a good selection on the TV.

I know my son needs TV to get to sleep! I feel sorry for his wife, but it is what it is. He has other really good qualities.

I like the Nancy Grace Mysteries that RCCI always shows.

So some people want better TV

If you are in a GS and above, go to the concierge/Suites lounge and ask for DVDs.

They are free rentals for you to use.

I enjoyed the outdoor movie screen on the vision and wish they played the same films at the same time on the cabin TVs. A couple of films I missed the end as had to get ready for dinner.

My point exactly, as I mentioned earlier. No reason they can't show those movies

on your cabin TV, since they are already playing them on the pool screen/theater

for free.

I do hope someone from Royal Caribbean reads these posts it appears I am not the only one that wants a better in room TV programming improvements. It is something easy and not too costly for them to offer to their customers. I would love to see a variety of more modern programming options and some programming that is more than shopping . I hope that the leaders of RCCL marketing can think and take some time to consider that customers want and really would enjoy some better in cabin TV programming.

On Serenade during one rainy sea day, we wanted to watch the movie being shown

in the Cinema theater. We got there 20 minutes early, but every seat was taken,

mostly by passengers that were reading their tablets to wait the time out as they

reserved seats. Others that came out before we went in, that also found the full

theater, told us some of those people had been in there an hour early!

Another example of why can't they show those movies on cabin TV?

Add us to the list of cruisers who wouldn't mind better tv programming or complimentary movies. My husband and I have started taking longer cruises, and we've met others on board who are on for B2B2B and even longer. You're not out and about every single night, and the more you cruise, the odds are there's going to come a time when you're not feeling well.

(We also keep our tv on most of the time during the day while we're in our room on the "Phallic Channel" (:)) because we like to monitor the map, ship speed, etc. Lots of times we've been out on the balcony, see a land mass, run in for the binoculars and check out the map.)

Yes you can bring your non blue ray dvd's I brought season 3 of Big Bang theory and some Sinatra and rock and roll movies, have done same on Hal, I think concierge can loan you movies also ( on RCCL only GS and above have dvd's I believe)

Another one for better TV choices. We hardly watched any TV this last cruise, but as others have mentioned, sometimes you just want to chill out in the room for awhile or sometimes you might not be feeling so good.

One thing we loved about DCL was their entertainment system. Lots of movies and shows to watch and you could pick them back up where you left off if you had to stop watching for some reason.

We have been cruising since 1997, we have done every activity there is (more then once). I love watching the "Today" show and the "Chew" when we sail on Carnival. Wish Royal would add network TV programming! Btw, I spend plenty of money in the casino!

Not sure how to get RCCL to listen to our wants for better programming anyone have any ideas?

Count us in on the group who'd like better TV options onboard. Sure, no one cruises to watch TV, but we aren't go-go-go constantly people. We do enjoy a nice afternoon nap or a quiet "just us" evening, and we'd like the option of some quiet, passive entertainment.

One option is to load a couple movies or a season of a show (of your own choice, not RC's!) to your iPad prior to the cruise. Bonus: You can watch it on your balcony. The negative, of course, is the small screen.

Rather than wait for RC to step up to bat, I'd like to hear if anyone has any other "work arounds".

Add me to the list of those wanting more options. In addition to liking to have the tv on while getting dressed, our two kiddos need some downtime during the day. They are too old for naps, but cruising and all the activity that comes with it wears them OUT! We end up watching the same episode of Doc McStuffins 50 times in one week. Ugh. I, too, have started loading my iPad with tv shows for them so we can have a bit of variety. It gets the job done, but it's not ideal.

My DH and I have complained on every post cruise survey for the last 7-8 years about the repetitive TV shows and the removal of the movie channel. Celebrity and Princess have much better TV options. We book a GS for the DVD player; however, it is disappointing to learn that on our upcoming B2B Allure sailings we will not have a DVD player in our GS. We are looking into buying an Apple digital AV adapter ($50) to stream Netflix and Amazon shows via our iPad. RCCL has the worst TV shows ever. It would be nice to just relax late in the evening watching some normal TV. I wish RCCL would read all of these posts. I have complained to the C&A Diamond plus line and was told that RCCL would like to see its passengers at shows and not in their cabin watching TV. I think watching TV is my prerogative - not RCCL's.

I would love to see RCCL improve its room TV programming options increase some. Does anyone know if RCCL ever reviews what programming channels they offer to their guests? I sure would like to see some better channels!:)

Carnival Cruises has the best TV programming of all the cruise lines we sailed with. When we sailed in January I was surprised to see ABC, NBC, and CBS, included in TV programming, along with several other nice channels. It was so nice to be able to tune into local news and weather.
