I'm getting a 4-night SDP on our 7-day, and I'm using two of them for Le Bistro.

I had three other candidates. Which would you drop, and keep the other two?

- Cagney's

- Moderno

- La Cucina

I'd drop Moderno. I find that it's just not that good, except for the salad bar. The deserts are awful. I love Cagneys and I think the food at La Cucina has really improved over the last 12 months so I like that as well.

Sorry I'm not answering your question exactly as asked, but the one I would drop is Le Bistro. That's because of the location. Those other 3 have the waterfront, which is wonderful, but Le Bistro is in a loud, busy atrium area. Plus, the inside portion of Le Bistro is extremely cramped. And while I didn't have this problem, there have been complaints of cigarette stench from the casino, which is directly above in the open atrium.

I agree with Aquahound here. On those 3 ships, Le Bistro is basically a closet, with no windows to the ocean at all. The tables are practically on top of one another. The food is good, but we could've eaten off the plate of the table beside us without even leaning over. We ate there on Getaway a couple times, but made a point of skipping it on Escape.

Regarding your 3 choices, the one with the worst food is Moderno. Any and every Brazilian steakhouse I've ever had on land is better, with larger salad/sides bars and better cuts of meat. Several people are voting La Cucina, but the menu is completely different than it was before it went a la carte, so unless they've had the new menu, take those votes with a grain of salt.

Our 2 "do not miss" specialties are Teppanyaki and Cagney's.

food is subjective, but i wouldnt do that line up

My favorite is Cagneys

I like Le Bistro, but like other posters say, it's location sucks, the smoke is horrific, and to be honest, the new Le Bistro menu didn't have me super impressed - although, their french press coffee is to die for *usually* and is worth the trip to get that - I wish I could just stroll down there and pay for some of that french press.

The one time I ate at La Cucina on the Getaway, was terrible, but that was years ago and people say it's much better now

I've also eaten at Moderno and it's not my favorite, simply because I can only have *so* much meat before i go into a food coma and it ruins the rest of my evening - it's really just not the way I eat, serving after serving of meat, but everything I got to eat there tasted good

Tried La Cucina on two NCL ships, and the second time we noticed the decline in quality. The big draw to La Cucina used to be all of the dipping oils they provided with the bread, but on our last cruise on the Pride of America, and which has also been confirmed with someone on the Breakaway, they got rid of that. I was very disappointed!:(

I'd skip Moderno. The salad bar isn't as good as it used to be, and they've also changed the standard table side dishes, which used to be my favorite part of the meal.

I just got of the Breakaway and the best meal we had on the ship was at La Cucina. Blue cheese encrusted filet? Amazing. It was the first time I didn't order the osso buco, and I was not disappointed. Excellent.

Cagneys is always good, but they always overcook the steaks, in my experience. Always. This cruise was no exception. I should know by now to order a lower temp than I really want. The same went for my entire family.

Well, I consider LeBistro to be the worst NCL specialty restaurant, I go with that to get rid of. Replace it with a bbq joint for all I care.

Next to get rid of would be

Cagney's: just average cooking, service and atmosphere

Moderno: I have only been here on the Jewel and never to a Brazilian steakhouse at home although there are a few near me - but Moderno has a unique atmosphere that is hard to achieve especially on a seagoing vessel

La Cucina: Is pretty good if you ask me, but it was a year since I have been there so maybe it has changed since but the service is top notch

Teppanyaki: My absolute favorite. Change nothing here. Maybe even make it bigger or add seatings as it is that good and more people should experience it if they can get the opportunity

Le Bistro food is just average, menu is not that expansive, I don't like the atmosphere and from what I remember, the service was not that great. So yeah, scrap it. But that is just my opinion.

Strangely the poll did not offer Le Bistro and that would have been my first

option.

All the SR's should have been offered for a selection.

The votes posted so far do not reflect what the posters are stating above !

Not strangely. If you read the post, the OP has 4 meals and already decided that 2 will be used at Le Bistro. They want to know where to use the other 2, by having voters eliminate their least favorite.

And yeah, I think the 2 meals at Le Bistro, especially on that ship, is a HUGE waste.

We were not impressed with Ocean Blue. The fried calamari was good, but the lobster tail was small and paired with teriyaki vegetables. The two did not go together.

We liked Le Bistro and were not bothered at all about smoke. We also enjoyed Cagney's and Teppanyaki very much.

Recently went to Cagney's, Moderno, Teppanyaki and La Cucina.

I would drop Cagney's. There wasn't really anything special about this restaurant to me.

I would put Teppanyaki on your list as I thought it was probably the best meal of the four.

Next, I would drop La Cucina but mostly because it was almost a 3 hour meal for us which was annoying. They did still have the oil/dressing for the bread on our sailing a month ago - someone above said they stopped doing that.

Definitely I would drop Le Bistro. I know you plan on going there twice but if on the Escape, you're going to have to love cigarette smoke if you eat at le bistro.

Its designed so you are basically sitting out in the Atrium area and that area is directly below the open atrium area of the casino. The smoke makes its way down and lingers right there.

Le bistro does have a very small area inside, the only way I'd ever consider eating there again is if I could sit in one of those couple tables that aren't in the atrium.

After having the four meal, meal plan on Breakaway in March, personally I would do all four meals at Cagney's. We ate at Cagneys twice and the food and service was beyond excellent. We ate at Le Bistro, and the service was poor and the food not good at all. Sevice was okay at La Cucchina, but the food was not okay.

It seems that with the menu changes recently made, NCL made all the specialty restaurants at the same or lower quality than the MDR's except Cagneys.

We ate at all three on the Getaway. Cagney's was my over-all favorite. LaCucina was pretty good, too! We had Teppanyaki twice...and were very satisfied. The only restaurant we had any issue with was Moderno! Meat was over-cooked and it took forever to get anyone to come over with the skewers! There was only one other party of 4 there while we were eating and they couldn't keep up??

I ate at Cagney's, La Cucina, Teppanyaki, and Moderno last week on Breakaway. Liked them all, but La Cucina did not impress. The appetizers were very good, but the entree was only so-so. I dine at Italian restaurants frequently, however, and am probably being overly critical. Most people seem to like it. My favorite was Moderno, since I like Brazilian Grill.

3 hours is way too long.

Did they have the three oils with the bread or just one?

It is very funny reading this. On Getaway, Ocean Blue was above and beyond the best. We had tons of amazing seafood and perfect service. Cagneys the food was good but the service was atrocious. We also loved Le Bistro. Yes we were in a small table about a foot from another guest... but we made friends. Moderno...meh. Teppanaki.... been there done that about a million times at Kobe. Its all in your taste.

Yes, it definitely is.

Um.. I didn't count or pay close enough attention but there seemed to be more than one and some cheese. It was very good.
