Palma de Mallorca - DIY?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for giving the right answer, I live in Illetas and get the bus into Palma alot. , and the time of the bus is around 15/20 mins .

On looking at the google map it is unclear as to where you get the bus : to find it come out of the cruise terminal and cross the main sea front road via the flyover and you will come to the Av De Joan Miro cross that road and the bus stop is on the other side.

Roger:

Per your suggestion, we will be going to Illetas beach from the Port -- we are a party of 6 -- will we have difficulty finding a taxi to fit us all?

Thanks in advance.

You might get a taxi for 6 if you are very lucky at the port or you will have to get 2 taxis, personally I would get the no 3 bus which stops at Porto P which is a 5 minute walk from the cruise terminal.

This will takkeyou directly to the beach it is the last stopon the route.

Hi,

Is it possible to rent a car at the cruise terminal? Are there any rental offices nearby or we have to reserve it earlier?

There are no rental outlets at the cruise terminal ,use Arash car rentals that I have recommended in a previos post.

We're stopping in Palma de Mallorca during upcoming cruise on Symphony of the Seas (8a-4p). We're doing the Old Town Bike Tour through Callandride (10a-1p) and thinking about visiting a beach afterward. What's a good beach for us to visit within reasonable distance and convenient after bike tour and to get back to ship afterward.

Thanks Roger. How much does the bus cost and can you pay for your ride once the bus?

Hello Roger b,

I was wondering if you had any advise for our plans when we arrive in Mallorca in October. We are planning on renting road bicycles in Plama from NANO Bikes and ride to Consell. In Consell we were thinking of going to Bodega Ribas for wine tasting and food during a 1-2 hour tasting. After that we were going to stop at a couple of places in Consell and then ride back to Palma. The rest of our time would be spent walking around Palma. I would appreciate any incite or advise.

I have not done it myself ., the the village of Consell is not the most attractive, looking at the winery the meals look quite expensive, the ride is nice but include going to Santa Maria ( where I always see alot of Bikers) on the way. Take this route which will give you a great look at the Majorcan countryside

Roger we have a reservation at Sa Foradada. Last few reviews on TripAdvisor were not so flattering. What are your thoughts? We will have cars and driving in Deia and Soller area. Hate to spent the time hiking down and back up and not having s memorable meal with friends.

This has probably been asked and answered before but we dock in palma for the day and want to go through to the main city centre bit. What's the easiest & most cost effective way to get there using transport? were 3 adults sailing this july,

Many thanks

We will be doing the same. Where would be the best place to ask the taxi driver to drop us off?

Hi.....great tips.....thank you.

We will be docking in mid October and we have been to Palma de Mallorca before. We were going to start our day by taking a taxi to Mercat de l'Olivar. We would then plan to leisurely walk back towards the Cathedral.....check out some shops...light lunch. What main streets should we focus on during our walk back, even if they are not the most direct. Any suggestions for jewelry shops/Mallorcan pearls? light lunch restaurant? Thanks!

Thank you Roger......Gaudeix is closed on Monday so we’ll try one of the others. Our cruise is so port intensive sometimes simple strolling, immersing, interacting is refreshing. Probably sample a few things in the Mercado so lunch may not be necessary. I know my wife wants to check out the beautiful Mallorca pearl options and although most are available online what better place than beautiful Mallorca.

Last trip we were on a smaller ship and I remember walking back along the marina to return......and I remember the fantastic yachts along the way.....some were closer in size to our ship [emoji15] This trip is on the HUGE Symphony so I am guessing the dock placement is different. Would it be better to catch a bus or a taxi back to the ship from the Cathedral?

Many thanks for all your help

Walking back Might not be possible as you might be berthed at least a 90 min walk from Palma .

Most of the Shops are open on a Sunday . There might be a service going on in the Cathedral ,but it should not affect your visit.

We were in front of the cathedral two weeks ago. A monk prevented everyone from entering because there was a service. So yes, a service affects the visit of the inside of the cathedral.

Hi all. This thread was a great help to us one our recent Symphony stop in Palma. Couple points I wanted to share from our recent trip:1) When we said we wanted to go to Illetas beach, the cab driver warned us that cabs don't come out there on their own. We decided to switch to Palma Novoa beach and it was also beautiful and there was a cab stand right near where we rented a sun bed. There were lots of little stores across the street where we could get cheap snacks and sand toys for the kids.

2) Taxis charge whatever they want. We had to take 2 taxis everywhere and we literally were charged a different amount each way for each taxi. It was ridiculous. (we went to beach and back to port and then took a taxi into town to Born street for the good shopping).

Definitely can't walk anywhere from the port so plan on taking ship shuttles or taxi. Ship shuttles stop running after noon. We came back from beach and then took taxi downtown.

Hope this is helpful.
