bottled water

Has anyone had any problems getting water delivered to the cabin when you check it in at the pier?

We've checked a duffel bag or backpack full of bottled Diet Coke (and sometimes some San Pellegrino) along with our regular luggage several times.

Each time, it's arrived just fine.

But with carbonated beverages, we just let it settle down for a while, as we assume the bags got tossed around rather nicely.

I've done this a couple times. I taped around the outside of a case of bottled water with packing tape to make it sturdier and made a handle out of the tape so it's easier for the porters to pick up. Then put a luggage tag on it and there was no problem at all. It was delivered either at the same time as my luggage or a little later. I've only done this out of Boston though.

Just did it on the Sky last week and have done it on previous cruises as well. No issues. Just taped a luggage tag on the case and it arrived after all the luggage was delivered to the rooms, so bear in mind that it may arrive in the evening after you've sailed.

In our case, we were sailing from Miami, and as another poster mentioned, some porters won't take them at certain ports.

Most ports will allow you to check a case of water. A few ports including New Orleans and Port Canaveral do not allow you to check cases of water (they have to be inside a suitcase or bag). We normally have a small roller with water.

We had ours in a duffel bag when we sailed out of NYC in October on the GEM. We saw others with just the cases of water and luggage tags taped to it.

I'm not going to donate $$$$$$ just to get a free bottle of H2O ;)

Have to be at a certain level just to get that perk.

As of July 15, no more beverages, including water can be carried on board in any fashion. Thanks NCL.

Can I bring bottled water or soda on board?

Effective July 1, 2016, for sailings July 15, 2016 and beyond, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages -- including liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soda and juices -- on board either as carry-on or checked luggage, with the exception of purified or distilled water in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant formula; and fully sealed and/or corked wine bottles for personal consumption onboard that is subject to screening and a corkage fee (for guests 21 years of age or older). Open beverages of any kind must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, on embarkation day and at any port of call.

The latest rule has changed as you can see above.

Their FAQ says it's under the guise of reducing the amount of staff needed to inspect all the luggage for smuggled alcohol since people often hide it in other containers such as water bottles.

Seems legit to a point but its a slap in the face of people who don't break the rules who now have to shell out for their quite pricy water bottle packages.

Alas.

No more.

We can't stand Pepsi products.

And NCL doesn't let us purchase Coca Cola products (specifically, Diet Coke).

Bye Bye NCL.

A shame.

Our poor PCC will not be happy to have about 10 NCL cruises cancelled.

Thank goodness it's not too late to cancel them, or we'd be speaking with an attorney.

The WORST thing that NCL does is to change the terms of the cruise AFTER it it is too late for passengers to cancel without penalty.

That's a much bigger issue, actually.

Please come back and let us know what your PCC says when you cancel the 10 cruises.

Gamble enough money that you either get 1500 points during your cruise ($5 credits, yours or theirs = 1 point) or can get a Casinos at Sea cabin on your next cruise.

It would not have been such an issue if it was for new bookings only, instead of starting it in 2 weeks. My final payment is due on the 11th. Ill wait to see if the backlash works before i cancel and book with another line.
