Oceania Smoking Policy?

What is the smoking policy onboard Oceania? I'm hoping for non-smoking in the casino.

Can I smoke on board?

For the safety and security of all guests and staff on board, Designated Smoking Areas are available on the forward, starboard corner of the Pool Deck and in the aft, port corner of Horizons. These areas are comfortably furnished and conveniently located near food and beverage areas. Smoking is expressly forbidden in all staterooms and suites, on verandas, or in any areas of the ship other than officially Designated Smoking Areas. Smoking in a stateroom or suite or on a veranda represents a serious fire and safety hazard to all guests and staff. Guests choosing to disregard this policy will be disembarked at the next port of call and may also be subject to additional fees that will be imposed to cover the costs associated with any damage to and the required cleaning of furnishings, verandas and surrounding deck and accommodation areas. All areas other than those specified as Designated Smoking Areas will remain smoke-free. This includes all guest suites and staterooms, verandas, restaurants, public areas, the Casino and all other areas of the ship. Cigar and pipe smoking is only permitted on the forward, starboard corner of the Pool Deck. The use of electronic cigarettes is allowed within designated smoking areas only.

People below our stateroom were openly smoking in their balcony leaving their butts as evidence for all to see. I reported this but nothing was done. So much for policy!

People do get put off of Oceania ships for violating the smoking policy, but first they are warned.

 

If the situation persists, they are asked to leave the ship at the next port.

 

We've only been on one cruise where it went to this extreme, but that passenger was also on the hook for some pretty hefty cleaning fee's because the infraction took place indoors, and Oceania had to deodorize the soft furnishings before the next person used that cabin.

 

Wherever the smoking occurs, if they don't stop after the warning, , the perpetrator loses the rest of their cruise without refund, and have to make their own way home-

Sigh, we wish....a "gentleman" in December on the Riviera complained, whined, and yelled, very very disruptively for 10 solid days, everywhere...breakfast, pool, dinner, etc, that he took a Penthouse specifically because he thought that he could smoke on his balcony...sigh...the butler and the GM told him to cease or he would be taken off the ship at the next port. Unfortunately, he remained on the ship for the entire cruise. He did end up in the smoking area, but was very belligerent on the cruise.

If this happened on a cruise that we were on, everyone from the G.M. to FDR would be notified. Smoking on balconies (or cabins) is 100% against company policy, is a fire hazard and there should be zero tolerance for this. If you want to smoke, go on Seabourn or one of Carnival's other ships that tolerate smoking.

I guess they need "zero tolerance " policy for belligerent passengers :D

That would be most annoying to the other guests having to listen to him for the whole cruise

 

I guess management does not have the authority it may have had for people smoking in the cabin or on their balconies to be removed from the ship :(

Wasn't he the guy who spent more time talking about smoking than he actually smoked ?

 

My understanding is that he kept threatening to light up in restricted areas, while smoking in the correct areas. but never followed through on his threats.

 

Disobeying the rules has swift and sure penalties, but I can see where putting him off the ship for verbally disrespecting them was, perhaps, a bridge too far.

Very happy to read about Oceania smoking policy. It is the same as on Celebrity, where as Royal allows smoking in the casino. But then I guess it saves me all the money I would lose from gambling in a non smoking casino. Every cruise line has offenders of all policies, it's how they deal with it that counts. Maybe make the offenders walk the gangplank?

I reported smelling cigarette smoke and security was at our room within 10 minutes. They too smelled the smoke. Don't know if the caught the culprit.

I like the idea of walking the gangplank ...

 

We are on a 20 day cruise and had our second boat drill this morning, where the CD repeated all the information about the smoking policy that she had stated the first time. My thought was, "surely people know the policy by now" ... but it sounds like my thought was in error.

You would think so

It is posted in the daily Currents where the smoking areas are

also about using your cell phone in the dining venues

 

but you still see "entitled" people talking on their phone during the meal :eek:

 

Maybe Oceania needs to put a hashtag in the notice for some to understand the policies ;)
