Radiance Questions?

I hope you are having a good time. We board in a couple of weeks with our grandchildren. If you have a minute would check the prices of hot chocolate and lemonade? Also are they covered in a beverage package. Thank you so much and safe travels home.

Lemonade (non-carbonated) is included with the basic cruise fare, no package needed. Hot chocolate from a packet is also part of the basic cruise fare.

I have not found a freestyle machine. I'm a Diet Coke fanatic and have only been able to get drinks from various bars- which people are happy to serve.

Re: the smell. It is noticeable from time to time however we have not noticed any issues with restrooms. I notice the cigarette smell from the casino or outside more than anything else.

Overall the entire cruise has been wonderful and I hope to post a report in the Alaska thread.

We were in 8540. Every time we reported the incident we were told that they were having a system-wide problem with the vacuum. We have stayed on the 8th deck numerous times in the past and have never had a problem until this last cruise.

I guess it is a given that older ships keep developing these problems. Their waste

system is so fragile. Just keep hoping we get will get lucky and avoid problems each

time.

We are once again "riding the tail" in cabin #9256. (Love that corner aft cabin

for Alaska viewing ;)). I keep expecting issues being so far back there, thankfully

so far we have been lucky, though time will tell.

We sailed end of June on Radiance north to Seward. Trip of a lifetime. The woodwork and ambiance in the bars - incredible! Windjammer was pretty good. We thought the menu in the MDR was quite limited though. Struggled a couple of nights on what to order.

Last 2 cruises were on the enormous Oasis and to be honest, I LOVED the smallness of Radiance. Was so easy to get around.

The Centrum is really pretty with great views.

The cabin - kind of sort of time for revitalization. Ok, it's time! Small things were in a state of disrepair. Woot woot, they did install a new plastic shower curtain mid cruise.

Plumbing. We read about plenty of complaints prior to our sailing. We didn't have any issues other than a "sewage" smell here and there. Once, the water was yellow - both in the toilet and the sink. It was brief.

Fabulous cruise though. Trip of a lifetime :) I would go back on the Radiance in a heartbeat.

Never let the little things ruin your trip.

We are going next June (can not wait). Can you let me know if she has the Coke Freestyle machines?

Thanx

Erika

I did this sailing two weeks ago - alas, no Freestyle machines on Radiance. I would have preferred Coke Zero to Diet Coke.

Totally agree, we have been on every class of ship with RCI (except Quantum class) and

still love the Radiance series as our favorite!

We decided the only thing better than an Alaskan cruise on Radiance, was TWO of

them this time. ;)

I am glad to hear good things about the Radiance. For two years now, my husband and I have discussed going to Alaska. My kids even chose it over a trip to Hawaii. We just assumed we would sail with Disney, since our last 4 cruises were with them. But after comparing prices and itineraries, we chose a northbound cruise on Radiance in June 2017. This is our first time on any Royal Caribbean ship. We are all looking forward to the cruise. I have seen so many pictures of the ship and she looks beautiful. I can't wait!!

Our situation was similar. Our first three cruises have been with Disney (Dream, Wonder, Fantasy). But, we really wanted to go into Alaska after the cruise and Disney doesn't offer the one way itineraries yet. And, for the cost of a Disney cruise for 4, we were able to also bring my parents in another outside balcony on RCI.

Our sailing on the Radiance a few weeks ago was our first with RCI, but it won't be our last.

The Radiance and her crew were fantastic and, in our experience, the service every bit as good as Disney. Our kids are old enough that they don't care about character meets.

He is not in the Concierge Lounge. The concierge is a female. Can't remember her name. I believe she just checked in on June 24th when we boarded. Don't know who is in the Diamond Lounge. We poked our heads in just to see what it was like.

Hi Judi,

Posted over on the Radiance thread. No one is home there. Hoped to sea a trip report from someone. As you know, we could not make that cruise, but are wanting to know how it all went for you and others.

Any basketball on Radiance?

Next up for us, MJ B2B for our annual Birthday/Hurricane cruise.

Good luck in this HOT summer.

We did Alaska on Radiance this year and last year (the first time was for our Honeymoon, and it was so awesome we wanted to do it again with the rest of our family). The ship is in great shape. If anything, it seemed a bit cleaner this year compared to last. But as usual, everyone was super friendly and it was an awesome trip.

We were on Radiance of the Seas to Hawaii on April. Forgot to get email address for Awesome Cruise Director Steve Davis. I do digital photo albums - he had seen some which I took on the cruise and I did a talk on the subject. I'm now doing pages for the album from that cruise and I want to send some to him. I would be unbelievably thrilled if I could get Steve's email address. Mine is cdnwb@optusnet.com.au. Do hope you're able to help as I've tried phoning RC but no luck there.

Cheers Carmel

I'm currently sailing on Radiance of the Seas- northbound to Seward. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have and will share a few observations based on questions I have seen recently.

-the crew is wonderful- very friendly and helpful.

-most people eat in the main dining room after the first night. We switched and found we prefer the Windjammer. The food selection is much better.

- Internet (we purchased the higher level with streaming) seems to work fine. My nephew is getting his fill of Netflix and I have only found that you have to log back in after 2 hours of inactivity. If you have AT&T cell service it works great in port

-I was surprised at how small the cabins are and I am thankful I have a balcony

- Beds are slightly uncomfortable for most of my group however we aren't letting it bother us

- they were painting the outside of the ship yesterday so I am not sure how much or what was accomplished in dry dock

Re: Alaska. Icy Straight Point is wonderful. We did whale watching and saw Orcas and humpback whales. The tour group was thrilled as this was the first time some had seen the orcas.

If there are other questions about the ship I will do my best to answer.

She posted that she was on board on July 5. I doubt that she is still on board. :)

We will be in cabin 8520.

Bit worried now as I see it has a connecting balcony.

Will they put a barricade or something like a screen to ensure privacy?

Thank you

You have a connecting cabin that will have a double connecting locking "door" between you and #8518...much like you've probably seen in hotel rooms...these doors will stay double shut and locked...so no need to worry. The balcony isn't connecting in any way...the partition on each side of your balcony will go all the way to the railing.
