Haven Butler Service

Requesting a single non-entree item like a soup or a dessert in advance typically will not incur a charge (as noted, doing so at seating is very disruptive to operations and they MAY decide to charge you if they will even do it.) Of course, this is for a one time request. If you plan to request more items, have the butler bring to your cabin.

I'm curious where you obtained this information. Are you simply stating your opinion because that's what it sounds like. I would suggest that those who do wish to have an item from one of the other restaurants especially if they do not have a dining package with their Haven package should ask the maitre d of the restaurant before automatically assuming this is impossible.

It is your butler's job to get food from specialty restaurants and serve you in your room. You pay for the food just like you are in the restaurant. When you have the Havens restaurant run for food, you degrade service to other guests in the restaurant, which is very selfish.

I have to disagree about this.

To be able to get food from other restaurants to the Haven restaurant is something the guests pay for on their cruisefare.

Of course the service may be degraded for other passengers but that doesn't mean that it's selfish to use what you have paid for.

If it's selfish to do that, is it also selfish to cruise with children? Lots of Children in the Haven means degraded service to everyone, is that selfish? Is it selfish to order breakfast from the butler every day? That may also degrade service for other guests.

my goal is not to camp out in my spa suite, and im not high maintenance, but i'm sure there will be times i have a hankering for X and dont want to leave the room/haven. so i want to make sure i'm understanding the rules:

1 i can call the butler and have him bring any food from any free restaurant to my room as long as that place is open at the time.

2. i'm unclear who to order food from if i want a snack while sitting in the courtyard (i see a few tables out there).

2a. do they bring food from the haven restaurant (or even the free restaurants) to the haven deck ?

3. any food from a 'pay' restaurant that is asked for within the confines of the haven or your room may be charged to my room or not, it appears to be discretion and timeliness of request (i full understand taking the SDP meal in room deletes one from your credit)

4. things like chocolate, strawberries, chips, candy, are free and will be brought to you in your room upon you requesting/scheduling them

5. i asked in another thread but didnt get a clear answer. will butler bring fountain soda/ice tea or whatever non alcoholic drinks there are, to your room. or is it basically a rule that 'any' drink costs u if brought to your room

6. what are the hours of the haven bar and restaurant

ty for your answers.

1 Yes.

2. The staff will come to you and ask.

2a. Yes, but it will take a while.

3. I don't know the logistics since I had the UDP, not SDP.

4. The butler will deliver a variety of snack items automatically. If there is something in particular that you want or want more of a certain item, just tell the butler and it will happen.

5. Our butler delivered a pitcher of iced tea and/or Sierra Mist with every meal he delivered. The only time he mentioned a charge was if we ordered alcoholic beverages to be delivered.

6. I forgot....total blank on that one, sorry.

I'm staying in the Haven on Breakaway in a couple of weeks. I was thinking of bringing my own ground coffee and asking the butler to bring me a French press full of hot water in the morning. Has anyone here heard of a guest asking for this?

Or you could put on your fuzzy bathroom slippers and walk 5 mins to the Havens Restauramt and have a pot made for you

That ain't happening! But if we eat our breakfast in the Haven maybe I'll bring my own coffee grounds and ask them for a French press, water only.

  • 7 months later...

I am cruising this coming Sunday, March 26th, on the Breakaway. I just upgraded my cabin from a regular balcony room to The Haven Spa Suite with Balcony. I am taking this cruise solo because it's on my bucket list. I've always wanted to take a cruise by myself so it would be all about ME. :D Anyhow, after reading a zillion posts and watching too many videos, I JUST HAD to book a Haven room. The Spa Suite was perfect for me because I had every intention of purchasing a spa pass. So, I've forked out a ton of money and I'm really excited but I'm also a bit stressed regarding the butlers and whatnot. I have sailed in suites before but that was with Holland America and Royal, with no butlers to fret about. I understand that all the Haven Spa Suites are on deck 14, with the actual Haven being on deck 16. How in the world will I meet my butler and the concierge? I'm not exactly sure what I would want from them???? I know that I don't care to eat any meals in my room, but I would like to have healthy snacks that I hear that they will leave. I'm NOT interested in sweets or things of that nature. How can I ensure that the "goodies" left for me will be things like fruit, chilled shrimp, veggies? Is that asking too much? I simply have no idea how to show any sense of deportment in this situation because I don't have any history in this area. :o I'm hoping someone can give me a good Haven for Dummies guide from A to Z. I haven't the slightest idea what time to arrive in port or how to conduct myself from that point forward. Any tutoring would be greatly appreciated with eye rolling kept to a minimum please!!! :D;):'):')

On embarkation day, you will use the Haven's check in at the port. The concierge staff will escort you from the Haven's check in to the Haven's lounge on the ship. You will meet your concierge and their staff who will be assisting you on your cruise to Bermuda. After your orientation, the Havens restaurant will be open for lunch. Then you can wander down to your room. On Embarkation day, your butler will come visit you in your room. Get to know him. Make sure he know if there are any special requests. Each afternoon, he will drop off an afternoon snack for you. We ask our butler to keep a bowl of gummy bears and M&Ms full in the room. And will ask for some PB&J sandwiches to supplement our afternoon snack at least one during the cruise.

I'm not exactly sure what I would want from them????

We order breakfast in our room on busy port days. There will be a card with check boxes for breakfast items. Ignore the check boxes and order whatever you want from the Havens restaurant. Egg white omelet with spinach and mushrooms, eggs over easy, filet steak, bacon, ham, sausage, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, breads, fresh fruit, juices. You can go to the Havens restaurant and get this made to order daily.

I know that I don't care to eat any meals in my room, but I would like to have healthy snacks that I hear that they will leave.

Ask your butler for what you want. The defaults include cheese trays, fresh fruit, strawberries. If you want veg, or hummus, ask for it.

I'm NOT interested in sweets or things of that nature. How can I ensure that the "goodies" left for me will be things like fruit, chilled shrimp, veggies? Is that asking too much?

just ask your butler.

I simply have no idea how to show any sense of deportment in this situation because I don't have any history in this area.

The concierge desk will help you make and change dinner reservations and show reservations. They can help you book shore excursions.

:o I'm hoping someone can give me a good Haven for Dummies guide from A to Z.

Enjoy the Havens restaurant. Spend time in the courtyard. Don't really need the Havens spa (since you will be in the thermal suite). The Concierge will escort you down to the Cirque show and seat you before they open the door for other guest (if you pay for the show). There will be reserved seating in the Theater for Burn the Floor and Rock of Ages (we use the concierge to get in the door, then find our own seats front and center.

I haven't the slightest idea what time to arrive in port or how to conduct myself from that point forward. Any tutoring would be greatly appreciated with eye rolling kept to a minimum please!!! :D;):'):')

To avoid crowds, we arrive at the port no later than 10:30 am and board, escorted by the butler staff, around 11:15. There will be a special Havens check in. Use it.

So,,, just remember that the concierge and butler are NOT included in your daily service charge and should be tipped separately. Just a recommendation, $5-$10 per day for the concierge and $10-$15 per day for you butler. And $5-$10 per day for your room steward if they do a specail job for you.

You will be fine. My suggestion to you is what I did several years ago when I "graduated" to the NCL Suite Life and never looked back.

Read EVERY NCL suite review on CC that you can. See what others asked for and enjoyed. Make a list or print and highlight points of interest to you.

Enjoy it! Watch out. You will be hooked.

Congratulations on your upgrade your going to be spoiled for life.

The key is to communicate with your butler.

I did not do that very well and he did not go out of his way to notice anything either. I found the butler to be the least beneficial of all the Haven staff.

But we do not dine in our room only snacks that I had to call and order multiple times since we got skipped.

We asked the room steward for extra towels and we had plenty. Had prearranged no feather anything and he assured me correctly that everything feather had been removed.

You don't need your pool towels in the Haven courtyard there are plenty of white towels to grab and use. Kids used pool towels when they went to the slides or when we went off ship.

If your butler was good you would have felt differently. I had one like you did once and it was uncomfortable, but every butler before and after were pretty good-great.

we found leaving a note every morning meant the butler knew exactly what we wanted for the afternoon. somedays we didnt care but if you want a standing order or something different every day then definitely write them down or speak to him. if its on the ship you will get it. i know you said you arent a fan of eating in the room but try the free room service sometime. it's not bad. the pizza with shrooms and onions was really good ..but not healthy :)

the bfast in the restaurant is great and i loved the selections. I loved my spa room. let us know what room you are in and if there was a pole in there or not. compiling a list.
