B2B with Additional Cabin Guests on 2nd Leg

Recommended Posts

I am taking a TA next Fall as a solo, and will be joined by my sisters (3 in cabin) for a Caribbean 6 day cruise as the 2nd leg of my B2B.

I am moving cabins to accommodate the 3rd guest, so I know I have to pack up the drawers and such. I assume I will have to walk off through customs before getting back on the ship. My question is, normally everyone in the cabin has to check in at the same time. How will my sisters check in if I am already on? Have any of you been joined by an additional guest(s) in their cabin on the 2nd leg of a B2B?

There's no requirement that all guests in the stateroom check-in at the same time. Your sisters will be fine checking in without you.

Thanks Bob. For some reason, I thought all guests did have to check in together. Of course, I can't say I ever tried it any other way :).

That sounds like fun! I hope you all have a great time. :)

Perhaps you could arrange to text each other when they board and then meet somewhere on board (if it is before the cabins are open, you will have access to the cabin as you are a consecutive cruiser, but they will not). If it is after 1:30 pm or so, you could all meet in the cabin if you wish.

Have fun.

They will be able to find me at the pool :D:D. I'll be the one looking incredibly relaxed :D.

I was on a b2b on Enchantment a couple years ago and my neighbor was my cabin mate for the 3 nighter, then she got off and another friend got on for the 4 nighter.

After the first cruise, I met with all the b2b'ers and we were escorted off, through customs and back on. I kept the same cabin, so when my friend got on board, we were able to go to the cabin and drop her things off even though it wasn't 1:00 yet.

A cabin steward did stop me and tell me that the cabins were not ready yet, but when I told him I was doing a b2b, he let us go.

Have fun!

I was hoping they would be able to at least get rid of their carry ons. This is also my 1st room change on a B2B, so I'm also hoping I can get settled in after going through customs.

We've done a number of b2b's where we added a 3rd person (nephew) for the 2nd half. The only 'glitch' that has happened about 3 times is the person boarding for the 2nd cruise we got their seapass card when we received ours. Knowing that my nephew had his cell phone on I called him and told him. He understood and he explained that to the check in people, although they didn't fully understand and went off looking for it.....and then they made him a new one.

Since you are the primary holder of the Reservations for your room I would print out an extra Set Sail pass for your sister to have when she checks in. All you need to do in regards to your clothes, is pack everything up and your room steward will move things for you. Your clothes in the closet can be left and they will be moved as well. Toward the end of your first cruise you will have a meeting for ll b2b's and they will go over the procedure with you.

FYI -

Since you are changing cabins, you are likely NOT going to be able to go to your new cabin until the cabins open. As everyone has said, your cabin attendant will move your things for you. If you have anything in the safe - let your cabin attendant know. You can either take it with you or they will coordinate with the new cabin attendant for you to go to the new cabin, put your things in the safe prior to leaving the ship. If you are not heading off the ship more that to clear customs, make sure you have with your what you will need for the day. Going to your cabin only happens during the day IF you are staying in the same cabin

been there, done that more than 20 times on 9 difference RCCL ships. Your old cabin attendant knows you, the new one doesn't. And who always tips a bit extra in cash to whomever is moving my stuff.

Holly, I have always been able to go to my cabin, even if it's a different one.

Understood, but one could certainly go meet the new cabin steward prior to turnaround day. I can't see him or her denying access to a consecutive cruiser's cabin.

We've done a number of B2B cruises and have always made an effort to meet the cabin attendant of our new stateroom for the 2nd cruise while on the 1st cruise. We kept missing her on the previous leg so when we opened the closed hallway doors and got to our new cabin for the 2nd leg, our attendant was across the hall and asked, "What are you doing here? Cabins don't open until 1:00".

The room was about half finsihed. It was a bit awkward explaining that we were consecutive cruisers and this was the 2nd leg. She didn't seem to think that mattered. We just dropped what we had with us off in the room and scampered out and waited until 1:00. The entire rest of the cruise, she was great. Still trying to figure out what happened. Lesson learned... make a better effort to meet the new stateroom attendant while on the previous cruise.

Thanks for the advise. I will track down my new cabin attendant before turnover day. With seven sea days in a row before I hit Ft. Lauderdale, I should be able to find the time :). I'm moving quite a distance and down two floors, but I'm moving from a 2 person center hump to a 3 person corner aft, so really no room to complain :D!

Couldn't the sister just print out her own Set Sail pass when she does her own online checkin? Since more than likely she's going to be using her own credit card (or cash) for her SeaPass account.

Wow - are you looking forward to that? I loves me a sea day but that is a lot in a row. :p

I would do 14 days in a row if I could. I love me some sea day while the other one loves port days. Go figure but after 27 years, it still works for us :D

Besides the cabin attendant - it is the floor supervisors who really enforce the rules. Some ships are more reasonable than others. If I am on for several cruises, I also make a point of meeting them. It can make a real difference. Rules are that you don't get access to a different cabin prior to cabin opening. Exceptions are made often, but not always.

who figures Grandma was right. Application of honey and sweetness works most of the time. Vinegar gets everyone......

I absolutely love TAs. I have yet to get tired of sea days.

I still work to support my cruise habit, but some day will be lucky enough like so many on this board who cruise 7-8 weeks a year (or more) :D
