jonbgd Posted August 17, 2016 #551 Share Posted August 17, 2016 Sad it only took me 5 years to make Pinnacle and now time to cruise another line. Do you live on the cruise ship? How the heck to do make Pinnacle in 5 years I will never make Pinnacle:confused:

Paulette3028 Posted August 17, 2016 #562 Share Posted August 17, 2016 That is why I don't do FCC or take the OBC on the cruise I am on. I book an actual cruise and tell them to leave the OBC on the new booking, not give it to me on the current cruise. Absolutely agree.....and the way we have been doing it. Paulette3028 Posted August 17, 2016 #566 Share Posted August 17, 2016 I agree -- this is one of those "if it sounds too good to be true..." situations. And punitive strings are attached. When they came out with the book a future cruise onboard and you could choose to take the OBC for use on the cruise you are on, rather than use it on the cruise you were booking it really made no sense to me or DH. We already knew what we were spending on this cruise, any excursions were probably already paid for and even our tips were probably covered by some OBC's from somewhere....it seemed like a foolish this the do to -- but others of course feel differently. Now it can be seen how using the OBC on the current cruise could negatively affect any future changes which may need to happen.

Now it can be seen how using the OBC on the current cruise could negatively affect any future changes which may need to happen. I use to apply the on board booking credit to the future cruise until I had to change a future cruise and my $100 OBC went down to $25. Now I always take it on the cruise I'm on, that way I never lose it and if I don't need it, I just cash it out in the Casino, granted it cost me 5%, but $95 is better then losing it or getting only $25 on the future cruise. I always take the cash and put it in my future cruise fund and have had enough each year to pay for another cruise! Carla
montecarlo0407 Posted August 18, 2016 #568 Share Posted August 18, 2016 My very first Royal Caribbean cruise was January 2011 on the Freedom of the Seas. January 2016 Freedom of the Seas I became Pinnacle. Yes I did a lot of cruising in those 5 years. A lot of suites. I averaged about 18 cruises a year 2 to 3 transatlantics a year. So yes I did make it to Pinnacle in 5 years. Yes I live in Florida but I have also flew to as many cruises as I took from Florida. I am very happy they changed their minds about taking away the balcony discount for less than 6 months. I am also happy that Pinnacle gets an extra $25.00 balcony discount. So for 3 years even thought I was paying double I was getting single points and the first 7 cruises I didn't travel solo. Diamonds in December helped too. I did that twice. You can change your future cruise as many times as you want now - if you have the OBC on your future cruise!

I would think that they would adjust your deposit amount as the OBC has not been earned in full.

I believe you can also change bookings on which you took immediate OBC, however they can reduce the deposit if you downgraded the category and/or length of cruise. Clearly you had the time, and were financially able to cruise so often averaging 18 cruise a year. I would love to be able to do that, but work and finances get in my way. Maybe you have all the ability in the world to plan your cruising schedule more than 6 months out, that is great. What I do find odd is how you are so happy to have the extra $25 balcony discount as a Pinnacle, but want to HURT those who choose to book a balcony cabin within 6 months. If you are only looking at what is good and nice for you, how unfair. Edited August 18, 2016 by Paulette3028
