Upgrade Advantage Offer Escape Help. ??

We are on the escape for 10/29. Got the email to bid on upgrades. We were in a mini suite and bid on several options. Ended up forward "penthouse " for 750 each. We put in a low bid to start then it ncreased it. Got notification the next day.

I'm on same cruise, booked guaranteed balcony for extremely attractive rate a few weeks ago. Assigned room on 9th deck.

Just bid $25 for mini suite, mainly for the thrill of the hunt. And hopefully bigger balcony.

That is even better that you got the perks as a guarantee. You got a current $6700 room for $3600 so I will call it a good deal. I'm sure you will enjoy. Did they offer any cabin choice?

His bid was 1050.00 per person which you pay for first two passengers which means he paid 2100.00 for upsell which is still a great deal

Indeed

This is more my speed;) We have been in the Haven once, but want to cruise more often so OceanViews and Balconies are our normal cabin. Will be interested to see if you get the upgrade.

Does anyone know if this whole bidding thing is offered to US guests only, like the upsell number was US only? Seems like everyone else never gets the chance for an upsell!

Also just wondering, if your bid is accepted to upgrade from say a balcony to the Haven- you keep your original perks and don't get the 4 for the haven, but you recieve all the other Haven benefits just as if you'd booked it originally, is that correct?

I'm on the Escape 10/29/16 cruise too.

Originally booked BX for $599 pp

Did not get e-mail, initially. Called the upsell number last week and asked them to send me the e-mail.

Bid $1150 pp and scored the last available OS. :):):D:D Surprised my offer was accepted within 48 hours when they could have held out until 2 days before sailing.

I doubt that minimum bids are effective, unless it's a few days before sailing and there are cabins still available.

Your best chances are if your bid is just marginally above the lowest category on the bid scale.

Next time, I'm going to start with the minimum inside guarantee and upsell from there. It seems that the price of the initial booking has no impact on the bidding process. Only your "free" (not really free) perks are affected.

Hope this strategy helps someone to score an upsell. :):)

When you upsell, you do not get the additional perks. You only get the perks associated with your original booking.

When you upgrade, at full prices, you get the additional perks.

You should take this in consideration when you submit your bids to ensure that you get maximum value for your total price paid for the cruise.

The Haven benefits are the same, regardless if you upsell or paid full prices.

I bid on a Mini Suite a couple weeks ago and just got the email this morning saying my bid was accepted and now we are in a Mini Suite! :) And my bid was pretty dang low too, so I am pleasantly surprised.

Can you tell us what your bid was? Congrats on the MiniSuite:D

So far it seems NCL is sticking to the maximum of a two category upsell. I've only seen Balcony and above have been able to bid on Mini Suite and Suites. So far I have not heard of Insides being able to bid on Mini Suites or above, so booking an Inside will most likely restrict you to OV and Balcony bids. Anyone have an Inside or Ocean View been able to bid on higher categories? I would also think these lower cabin decisions will be made much closer to sail date.

Price you paid has never seemed to matter with the upsell pricing. I'm not sure what you mean by only your perks are affected - I assume you mean you won't get all the promos that normally come with a suite when you upsell.

Start with an inside guarantee (no promos)

Upgrade to a balcony guarantee when the price drops

Upsell to Haven 3 to 4 weeks before sailing.

With savings of more than $1,000 pp you can easily pay for the promos you want.

I booked at same cost. It dropped 10 days later or so to 499 and I called, Rep said all they could offer was $25 onboard credit pp. Couldnt match new rate. Advised me to wait it out and call again, rates were 399/449 for cruises before ours.

I'm happy as is, $599 is great bargain.

Congrats on the upgrade!

When I say low, I mean LOOOOOWWWWW. $50PP

Congratulations!

If you don't mind, how much did you pay before bid?

just for statistic^^

I'm on the Escape 12/03/16 cruise.

Originally booked IX (inside Guaranty cabin) rates were 399p/p no perks.

09/22 got the email to bid on upgrades and put minimum bit 50p/p for a balcony.

Today the inside cabin were assigned on 12th deck mid-ship.

I guess they still can accept my bit in any moment before 48h

but anyway I'm going to be happy even with my original cabin.

Originally booked a Balcony Stateroom for about $1200pp, with our 3rd passenger free. So, if I broke it down for all 3, we were at $814PP

I am also on 10/29/16 cruise. I called but I was told my CAS booking (Free inside cabin but paid for mini suite) is not eligible for upsell. I guess I will quit obsessing about it. I'll just use the "saved" funds towards our Panama Canal cruise in 2018!

I was told it is still a house booking and they are eligible

We are cruising on the Escape December 17, 2016 in a B6 category. I had hoped to call the upsell line and find out what the cost would be to upgrade to a SPA mini Suite. I was told they are only doing upsells for the Escape through email so she emailed me a offer. Unfortunately the offer did not include Spa suites. Should I call the normal reservation line as we get closer to sailing day to see how much it would cost to change rooms?

Website is showing that all spa minisuites are sold out (as are all Haven suites). B9 is $1299 pp - that's only $200 pp more than the current price for a non-GTY balcony and $30 LESS than the price of a B6. Depending on what you paid for your B6, you may be able to upgrade to the spa balcony for little-to-no additional money. I would just call the general sales line and see what the cost is. Just realize you're losing your larger balcony but gaining access to the spa.

Do you have to book directly with Norwegian to get the bid/ upsell email? Has anyone booked through a travel agent or orbitz, Priceline, etc. and got the email for bid or upsell. We don't want to have false hope since we booked with a third party. Our rooms are all paid for and have been assigned just wondering if these perks are exclusively to customers who book directly with Norwegian. Thanks in advance...

My exact booking as well. Also today was assigned my inside cabin, Deck 11 Forward. Hope something comes through, but if not, not a bad price for our 3rd Cruise this year (1x in Haven).
